We stayed at St David's for a week and I have mixed feelings about this site. The location is fantastic and the beach was superb for our two little boys. We spend most of the time either on the beach or crabbing. The park was ok too.
I found the site to be very 'cliquey' though with the seasonal pitchers and the warden, there are different rules for seasonal pitchers to normal visitors. They are very strict on the site and have 2 pages full of rules. You cannot even fly a kite on the site (we had the flimsiest £1 kite for our toddlers)
I heard the warden being quite rude to some guests who had a small fire in their bbq. He told them to put it out straight away or you will be off the site in the morning.
The facilities were clean and the family bathroom was good with having two little ones. We were pitched on field 3 which is on a slope so our chairs and table wouldn't stand up. I did use the laundrette which was on site. You can buy a small box of washing powder for 80p. The washing machine costs £3 to and the dryer was £3 also so quite expensive.
The shop had all the necessities and the staff were friendly. We visited the pub one day too for lunch which was nice. There is a pub on the main road out of the camp called 'The Bull' which do a great carvery for £5.75. There is a great nature trail walk which we did too from the site and is worth doing.
I personally think the site is very pricey at £32. You are really only paying for the location (which is lovely but still expensive) They could do with a children's club or some sort of entertainment on there.
Overall, we did enjoy the site and as I said earlier, the location is brilliant with the private beach. It lacks atmosphere on there though and that 'holiday feeling' which I expected for £32 per night. The warden and seasonal pitchers 'click' was a put off for us though.

It's a bit of a mixture, this place. It's huge, it's a holiday park with lines of static caravans, yet the camping area is down by the shoreline.
It's not cheap either, £22 just out of season (would've been £32 the following week!) for a campervan with EHU. Sadly the site is 'pet free' too.
Expensive as it is, the facilities were second to none. Heated floors in the showers, clean toilet cubicles and sinks etc. It was immaculate, and worth the £22, but it's not normally the kind of place we go to. We prefer smaller sites without the statics, but as said before they were separate to the camping area.
The Tavern only had one other couple in it, and the views from the conservatory area were great. The food was good, beer was, well, Guinness or Tetley's. Would've been nice to have a real ale in there.
The site was very quiet, deadly quiet almost. I don't think there were many others around despite all the caravans parked up, but I guess they were mostly storage.
I would recommend it for location and facilities, but not if you've got pets, not if you like a small, cheap site, and not when it's the 'busy' season!

We (2 adults, 2 toddlers) visited this site and stayed for 5 nights. The weather was terrible for the first part of the week (gale force winds and rain) but did improve.
The site is clean, the staff are friendly and the site is set in a beautiful location with outstanding views. The private beach was ideal for our toddlers, with crabbing pools that kept them entertained and other young children to play with. The playground area is also reasonable and the family shower room was very handy for bathing muddy kids at the end of the day. We always found it very clean.
We ate at the tavern and found the food to be reasonably good value and it compared well with the other restaurants at Red Wharf Bay. The staff were also friendly but the pub / restaurant does lack atmosphere.
The only downside to our stay was that the location (field 3) was not ideal given the extremely bad weather conditions at the start of the week. Being sited close to the edge of a cliff in gale force winds was scary and the awning almost blew away. Plus the lack of a hard standing pitch meant tons of mud and a fear that we would not get the car out of the field, let alone the caravan.
Asides this, would wholly recommend this site. Its proximity to Benllech is also handy.
We visited Moelfre and had breakfast at Caban Laura one morning- that was cheap but cheerful and tasty. Plus, we also had dinner at The Kimnel Arms pub in Moelfre - that was very good value too with a good atmosphere and family friendly.

Just returned from our first camping trip. The weather unfortunately was horrible.
That said the site is in a picturesque spot and has its own private beach the views are stunning. Please note however as it is on the coast edge it can get extremely windy. On one windy night we saw 5/6 tents badly damaged.
Had a quick look at the EHU field and this seems a very thin strip and to us seemed not a patch on the non EHU field which was massive.
For August it seemed quite quiet no feeling of being on top of one another.
Excellent toilet and washroom facilities. Especially liked the family bathroom which has toilet, wash basin, shower, bath and hairdryer. It was great with 2 young children especially as the weather wasn't great and by the end of the day they were muddy and soaked.
Only used the shop a couple of times as we did our shopping at Asda just 5 miles away. The site also has a Laundrette if needed.
Plenty of families on the site and all the children played together. The rock ledges were especially good for the children to go crabing when the tide was in. Lots and lots of crabs to be caught.
Site is kept in excellent condition, toilet block regularly cleaned, wardens out on site picking litter and on the last day cutting the grass.
Would recommend this site and we would return, hopefully to better weather.

I stayed at this site in August 2008 with 10 members of my family. The play area was o.K. And the shop was quite reasonable but the pub was over priced and the food quality was not great.
However the rest of the site was excellent the Showers were always clean and hot water was always available in the shower block, if not the dish washing area. The beach was also really good. So overall I would recommend this site.

We stayed for a weekend.
Pros
Beach is fantastic. Large sandy areas and rock pools
Play area ok, but doesn't need to be great because of the beach.
Pub and shop on site are convenient
Toilets clean and modern.
Cons
Very busy when we stayed there. No marked pitches in the main field. This made it difficult to locate a pitch.
Many tents pitched in a haphazard way. This made it difficult to work out where cars needed to drive to leave the field and difficult for children to play near the tents.
Quite noisy at night
There is not much shelter against the wind.
Overall we would consider staying there again because of the beach.

This is a great site, toilet/shower facilities kept extremely clean, well stocked, and weren't overly busy on the night they had 95 tents pitched. There is a play area for children, and a small shop on site offering the basic plus more.
Please note there is an Asda store about 10 minutes drive from site, and around the corner from them at the mini roundabout there is an Aldi, a Lidl and a Quality Save.
The beach is private with only those staying on the site using it. There are woodland walks which we unfortunately didn't get time to do, our kids favoured the Beach. The beach is absolutely second to none the best.
The Tavern - the food is exceptional, pricey but very good value. Well worth a try we thoroughly enjoyed our meals.
The pitch - beware of where you pitch, we pitched 1st night on the left on Field 3, this is on a slope so position your sleeping accordingly, with this we re-pitched on the right hand side of field 3 the day after. The site can get very windy, please make sure you use all guy ropes and as per previous reviews you definitely need hard ground pegs, we witnessed a few tents fall to the winds, however we where in an 'asda' tent with all ropes tied firmly down and we didn't move.
The one thing that could be improved is the amount of washing up facilities there where 2 sinks which between so many campers caused queues. However, this could be cut down if people did as I did and washed the dishes and moved back to the tent to dry them up.
We would certainly go back again, the management team where very friendly and always prepared to stop for a chat! Great site, and fantastic you can book and pay on-line.

We've just returned from a four night stay at this site, it should have been three but we booked an extra night while we were there as we were enjoying it so much.
This was our first family camping experience and I'm a little worried that we may have spoilt ourselves by choosing this site as any others we visit will have a lot to live up to.
The position of the site is fantastic with a very clean, large, sandy beach just a two minute stroll away and views inland to the hills of Snowdonia.
The shower/toilet block is very good with adequate facilities although queues did develop for the showers and to wash dishes at busy times. I found that the showers and sinks could be quite dirty first thing in the morning and put this down to the dubious personal hygiene of some campers, who seemed to think it ok to leave sinks full of dirty water and sand all over the shower cubicles, rather than the efforts of the cleaning staff. The shower block was cleaned every day at midday to a high standard.
The park itself is very clean with virtually no litter, the bins themselves were overflowing while we were there but then it was very busy and they were being emptied as we were leaving.
There are two camping fields, one smaller field with EHU and the main field which is quite large. The large field has a gentle slope but nothing to worry about, it is also quite exposed at the back of this field and as has been pointed out in other reviews it can get extremely windy, so much so that while we were there a couple of tents ended up in the site skip. Hard ground pegs are also recommended as there is only a couple of inches of topsoil before you hit shingle which will bend ordinary wire pegs.
There is a small shop on site selling the basic items you would expect in a site shop and also beach toys for the kids. There is also a launderette which we didn't use and The Tavern pub/restaurant which we did.
The Tavern has a fairly basic pub style menu, we ate a couple of meals there and while the quality of the food was fine we did think it was a bit pricey. The patio area outside was great for drinks in the evening and for a refreshing pint when coming back from the beach.
The beach itself is massive and perfect for kids as it is very sandy with rock pools dotted about here and there. When the tide is out you can walk round to the nearby village of Benllech where there are a couple of pubs, a small supermarket and some shops if you need to stock up on supplies. If the tide is in you can walk along the Anglesey Coastal Path which runs parallel to the beach. This takes about 15 - 20 minutes. If you walk up the beach in the other direction you will come to the village of Red Wharf Bay where there is a restaurant and The Ship Inn. We didn't try the restaurant but went in The Ship for a drink and to have a look at the menu. The pub is a charming Olde Worlde type place but be warned - it isn't cheap!
We had a great stay at St. David's Park and we will definitely be returning. Highly Recommended.

Just returned from a short stay at this site, Family of 6 (2adults and 4 children aged 13, 11, 9 and 4) all we wanted was a nice camp, clean toilets/showers and somewhere for the children to play and we got it and more besides.
The site itself although not commercialised in anyway is by far better than some oversubscribed sites that we have visited.
Very friendly staff who were more than helpful on the telephone and in person.
We arrived on a lovely sunny afternoon and pitched with no problem over looking the bay. What a view to be waking up to every morning with the waves crashing against the rocks it was beautiful. The camp is host to its own private beach and Rock Pools which is fantastic for the children the sand is lovely and soft and clean. Just a short walk across the beach and you come to some lovely little shops not sure of the name of the village but lovely to say the least.
Spent a lovely day in the town of Beaumaris approx 1/2 hours drive away and this is a lovely pituresque town that you could only imagine on postcards, we took a trip on the Catarmaran - Island Princess to Puffin Island (this being the highlight of my trip!) This was fantastic, we managed to see some Sea lions sunbathing on the rocks and all the different birds that reside on the island, unfortunately no Puffins insight as they had all migrated in July :o( but still had a lovely cruise anyway.
Had a lovely evening meal in the Panton Arms just a few miles away from the site, lovely welcoming landlady and lovely meals would defo recommend and not overpriced either.
Not much really I can say on a downside to this trip apart from the Wind - try and pitch in the lower areas of the field which are a little more sheltered by the rocks as we were quite high up and ran into a few problems! And also the fact that you are only given 1 pass for the showers/toilets as previous users of the site stated, this does pose a problem for larger families as you have to be strategic with your toileting and this can cause issues at times.
All in all had a lovely time and hope to return again soon.

I am the 3rd generation of my family to camp in this area of the island & I have been coming to this site since I was a child, as you can imagine we have been all over the island and this was my 2nd visit with my own children (the 4th generation!). We thought - yet again - this was by far the best and most beautiful location on the island and also best campsite, very clean shower/toilet, good amenities (tavern, shop, play area), great to be right on the beach and just a short walk along the beach to the Ship Inn and to Benllech. There is a large Asda supermarket in Llangefni and a large Tesco in Holyhead if you need to stock up when you get there. One thing made me nervous - the campsite being on the edge of a cliff with no barrier - children of all ages need CONSTANT supervision as recommended in the site rules. The no noise after 11pm rule and the high price discourages groups of younger people - brilliant for families
