We came we saw and we left.   Slap bang on the top of the cliff overlooking the sea, fantastic views.   BUT beware it is very very exposed.   The top two fields would suffer greatly if there was any wind and Anglesey is renouned for its high winds.

However the main reason for not staying was the £28 per night per tent in Mid Season (no EHU).   I am sorry but I think this is taking the Michael (being polite).

If you want great views with the risk of being blown away both on price and literally then this is the site for you.   Otherwise go a couple of miles down the road to Home Farm.

My husband 3 children (13,12 and 6 years) and I have just returned from St Davids after a 4 night whit week break. The location and views are fantastic - roll out of bed, and there you have it Sea and sandy beach - What more can I say!
It was surprisingly quiet for bank holiday! The site has very few hookups (not in the best location either, field 2, next to boat park) so if you want one you need to book up early. Field 3 much better views but 4 times size.
The toilet/shower facilities are clean, plenty of hot water day and night, the family room is great if you have young children, babies with its corner bath, toilet, shower and wash basin. I am not sure how the site copes in the height of the season - 5 toilets, 5 showers in each male/female!
The only difficulty we experienced was the security key card system for entrance to the site and toilet facility - with 5 of us we occasionally found it awkward with  only 1 key.  The site is safe, clean and well run. The children's park is basic but clean and safe.
The small shop sells essentials at reasonable prices as well as beach toys etc. We only went to the tavern once, to escape the incessant rain! We had a lovely meal in the new conservatory overlooking the sea. Again reasonably priced. The beach is fantastic, flat sandy ideal for kayak, some boats, skiers etc but not too busy during our stay.
The village of Benllech just a short walk across sand  has toilets, cafe shops on front,  but steep hill to climb to get to shops. Freshly made bread, rolls etc at Co op, HSBC cash point, petrol station/shop, 2 chip shops, Indian takeaway and lovely shop selling wooden carvings, lamps etc. Be careful not to get cut off when tide comes in!
I would definitely book this site again and would be interested to see how it copes in height of season - if it does well we will return regularly as we all fell in love with the area.

The campsite is huge, you drive through hundreds of static caravans and chalets to reach the tent bit which is right on the sea front. The location is beautiful and the beach is easily accessible (when the tide is out). Be careful though as tide comes in really quickly and completely floods the beach area. Gound is good, a bit rocky but when in N. Wales you know what to expect. Good shop on site, didn't try the tavern.

Toilet / shower facilities are excellent and also offers disabled wash room.

We felt that £25 per tent per night was pretty steep even with the facilities and they also wanted full payment on booking which I also felt was a bit cheeky.

On the whole we had a good time but probably wouldn't visit again due to price mainly. Not being a cheap skate but with the competition you don't need to pay it.

Very nice clean site, predominately static residential site. Having said that, the camping fields are both set at the front of the site overlooking the bay with fantastic views. Campers are welcome and not made to feel the poor relation. Small shop but sells the essentials.
Nice pub that does sell meals but after a round of very expensive drinks decided to go elsewhere. For example £3.50 for a single brandy and lemonade. This rivals the prices at the expensive Newcastle Quayside bars hence the pub was a bit quiet) kids are allowed upstairs in the family room until 9pm.
The shower block was nice and the cubicles had lots of space with stools and duckboards available to take into your cubicle. Lots of hooks on the door to keep clothes dry. Hairdryer free and quite powerful.  We turned up a day early with a mix up on our behalf and the staff were very helpful and let us pitch up anyway and we payed the next morning when we had got settled.
Good private beach with good rock pools and soft sandy beach. This site is very exposed if the wind is blowing the wrong way and although the rest of the island was quite calm it was often blowing a hooley! a couple of tenter 's actually gave up and packed up.

Yet another fantastic weekend at St Davids.  We visited a couple of years ago and were pleased to see that the facilities were still up to the same high standard.  We were lucky enough to get a sea view pitch and although the weather was a little dodgy on the first evening, the following 2 days more than made up for it.  The kids were entertained by playing in the sea and catching crabs, whilst us adults watched them from the shore, with beer in hand!  The toilets were lovely and clean and there was plenty of hot water for (free)showers.   Would not hesitate to recommend.  I am sure that we will return.

Brilliant site. Wife, myself and 3 young children and some friends went here for our first family camping trip, we loved it. The views are beautiful, the facilities are great - loads of toilets and showers that were always spotless.
We pitched the tent and the children ran free around the big field and mixed with other children after a couple of minutes. The campground is right beside the private beach, which we used to walk into Benllech. There is a very nice pub that we used on the Saturday night as it rained for most of the day. The food wasn't too bad - we had fish and chips, £6 (frozen chips major gripe - doesn't anyone cook fresh chips anymore).
All in all we loved this site, the only downside is that I hope it hasn't set our campsite expectations too high.

Pros: Beautiful setting, great for kids, playground and football area, beach, nice bar, great facilities.

Cons: £25 a night, automatically shut out of facilities at noon, £60 - speeding fine in Benllech.

 Mixed views on this site!
We arrived Friday evening at about 7.30pm and the reception was closed.  The paper work sent out (all advance bookings) suggested that we had reserved two marked pitches on camping field 2.  On our arrival camping field 2 was completely full - and there wasn't a great deal of space on camping field 3!  The chap in the shop makes it clear that he is nothing to do with reservations.
So we went down to field 3 to see what we could find.  There was very little decent space available, so we pitched our tent on a bit of a slope in about the middle of the field.  Our friends, arriving later, were lucky to get to pitch next to us.  What little space was left soon disappeared.
I agree with earlier posters that the place does get packed out like a festival camp site and that really surprised me considering the expense.
The shower block is great, but only offers two sinks for washing up (imagine the queues!).  The bathrooms also have only one hairdryer and one hand dryer each.  They were really clean and well maintained and the standards of the site were superb (except for managing overcrowding).
The beach access is great, the views are wonderful and there is a fantastic array of rockpools to wander over with little ones.  When the tide is out you can walk to Benllech for ice creams and (microwaved) hot doughnuts!
As other posters have said, this site is exposed.  On the second night, the wind got up, many packed up early and left.  Some, ourselves included, didn't.  We finally spent the night in the car, with our tent poles snapped and the fabric shredded.  Most tents on the site were damaged to some extent.  This would appear to be a feature of many of the reviews posted on here.  MOST OF THE PITCHES ARE VERY EXPOSED!
There are some sheltered spots around the edges of the field, near the trees, these tents were all okay next day.  Also camping field 2, which is lower than 3 also survived the winds.
Overall, I think that this is a lovely spot for a camp site and a holiday with children.  Any seaside site will always be exposed, so bring spare poles, your own hot water supply for washing up and this site is great.  Next time though, I think we will go to the East Coast!

Pros - View, Showers, Beaches, Rockpools
Cons - Welcome, Over crowding, Exposed, Washing up facilities

Stayed at this site last year and returned this year twice so far with plans to return.  We camp 4-5 times each summer and this is the best site we have found.  The beach is fantastic, very clean and also quiet (as access is only from the private site).  There is virtually no-one on the beach on a Sunday as everyone has gone home.  Contrary to previous post we have always found the toilet / shower facilitates great – never known no hot water.  Good site for kids, football and play areas and beach.  Only draw back is the shop on site, which is very small and doesn’t have much to offer.  Get in there quick if you want a paper!  Looking forward to heading back during the summer.

Despite the weather being a bit cold, we still had a great time at St David's.  It is a fairly large site, but even so, they manage it very well and is always very clean and tidy. Its location is second to none, being as near as is possible to get to the beach!  The views are stunning too.  No messing about is allowed, and offenders are quickly dealt with should there be noise etc.  The reception is very warm and welcoming,  always a good sign.  We would recommend this site to everyone, its excellent.
