Easy to find, reception staff excellent and given choice of pitch. Site has a circular road with pitches both inside and outside the road, those inside look to be very crowded together. All of the pitches are narrow and past their best in terms of levelness and personally I felt rather squeezed in, even on the outside.
TV reception is poor but they do have TV points on the EHU post, so you need a coax cable to reach them. They are available to buy at Reception for a reasonable sum.
Toilet block is regularly cleaned and big enough for number of visitors.
WiFi is free BUT you have to walk up the hill between the statics to the Big House to pick it up, beware, the portal dumps spam on your connection.
Easy walk into Pooley Bridge, across meadows and through a wood passing the Steamer pier on the way, 4 pubs there, at least two are very good, the cafe just over the temporary bridge is worth a visit also.

We had a wonderful 2 day stay at this site, and enjoyed every minute of it. When we got there we were shown our pitch by a very friendly man, it was a lovely spot with hard standing and plenty of room between pitches. Dogs are welcome although not in the children's play area which wasn't a problem for us. Shower block/toilets were close by and were spacious and the water a good temperature. Dish washing facility was inside and very clean, also a washing machine and ironing board available. The site is nice to walk around with the mansion at the top of a hill, with lovely views over Ullswater. The walk into Pooley Bridge was off road and about 10 minutes. It's a small place but we loved it, not the hustle and bustle of Windermere! It's a great starting point for cycling too. Can't wait to go back.

Had high expectations of this site as it was featured as one of 100 top UK campsites and when we arrived the layout and presentation of the many static holiday homes was impressive. However, the touring part of the site was shabby by comparison; the pitches were of large grade chipped stones interspersed with weeds and were uneven in all directions. The grass and hedges could have been better kept and neater. However, the pitches had EHU, H2O and aerial point.
The hairdryers were good and the safe pathway down to the main road was appreciated. The showers and toilets, though clean and warm, were outdated and poorly finished. The wifi was hopeless; available only in 'the mansion' (bar) a fair walk from the touring pitches, it was difficult to access, slow and unreliable. Phone reception non-existent. But importantly the staff were both friendly and helpful and the shop looked well stocked. I assume it makes the top 100 campsites due to its location and proximity to Ullswater. (A return boat trip from Pooley Br. To Glenridding is £13. 50 pp)

Very well run campsite, toilets and showerblocks very clean warm and tidy. No noise after 10. 30pm this rule is respected by everyone. Close to all arterial routes but at the same time being peaceful and quiet. Staff very helpful and polite. On site shop keeps essentials including bottled gas. Our stay was very good and would definitely return soon.

My Husband and I stayed here for 2 nights recently. What a lovely place, friendly helpful staff.
Pitches are roomy, have their own water supply, TV ariel point as reception is poor. Not that this bothered me.
The toilets and showers are spotless, as is the laundry room and dishwashing area.
This site is popular with tourers and after speaking to some visitors it was clear that advance booking is required as many people return on a regular basis.
This is a beautiful site in a lovely area. We will definitely return.

Stayed 4 days over the Whitsun weekend.
Good points: Friendly staff, clean toilets, good showers with well heated facilities block. Water, TV booster and drain on every pitch. Superb location just a few minutes from the A66/M6 Junction. 15minutes walk to Pooley Bridge with several fine pubs and a few shops. Access to Ullswater Steamers, and 2 Hourly bus service (This becomes Hourly buses on 'Red days' Peak holiday high season)There is a bar/lounge on site which was open 7pm-11pm but we didn't visit this.
Site is very clean and tidy throughout.
Few dislikes: poor phone signal (no 3G anywhere) no internet on site apart from the Bar/Lounge and this was switched off during the daytime. Hardstanding was coarse sharp stone, needs very strong hard pegs if you are securing an awning.
A small tip: The 'official' path through the site towards Pooley Bridge takes a very convoluted route to avoid using the main road. However if you elect to use the site main gate instead, the section along the road without a verge is very short, and this takes a good 5 minutes off the distance.

This was our 3rd visit to Waterfoot. Its recently changed hands and the new owners have several other caravan sites across the Lake District. We pretty much knew what we were going to get before setting off. Its small - only about 30 pitches - and very quiet. There is a children's playground, but we try to be sited away. We stayed 5 nights. Its very nicely laid out, pitches are a decent size and the toilet block is always clean and tidy. However, there are some issues that detract from the site.
1) The showers. I tried all 3 in the men's block. They are the 'push button' type. The longest the water runs for is 16 seconds before having to press the button again! Thats the middle of the 3. The others are even shorter running times. To me that's ridiculous and makes showering tiresome and annoying! A further issue was the hot water temperature - just over luke warm. Not hot and not changeable. There is no temperature control to change. So you are stuck shivering and having to press the button every 16 seconds. Really unacceptable.
2) TV signal - each pitch has a 'TV Point'. Its advertised on their website. Its hopeless. Its a digital only area and the signal via the lead gave us around 15 channels. Not too bad, but when they are blocking and on and off randomly, again it makes watching Tv nigh on impossible. After a couple of days I tried the caravan TV ariel. This scanned up loads more channels and it was slightly more reliable than the the site version! I'm not sure if this was faulty site equipment or just a poor design. I understand about radio signals and know the difficulties of getting signals into hilly areas. But this would appear to be a simple case of the kit on the site not being up to the job.
3)Internet access. There is free wifi on site. But only in the 'mansion' bar area. This is slow and unreliable and only accessible there. To me, internet access on site is a minimum these days. When asked about plans to extend it to the full site I was given different reasoning from different staff 'its too expensive' 'its free as it is what more do you want' 'it keeps crashing' 'we don't feel there is a nned for it' 'you are in the lakes, why would you need internet?' To me its a basic minimum nowadays to have internet access - I'm not expecting free, just reliable and available in my van.
4)3G phone access - not the sites fault I know, but the coverage maps show that 3G internet access should be ok, but its not. Essentially if you need to check opening times, directions or any other information, you are stuck having to rely on the the 'mansion wifi'.
As lovely as the site is, for staying any longer than a weekend, its great if you don't need TV or internet. Personally I would not return there until thos facilities are properly available there.

A well run quiet site in a good location for accessing Ullswater Lake.
Michele on reception was friendly and helpful and informative
The toilets and showers were spotless and always smelt lovely
Would definitely return
Fabulous friendly site teaming with wild rabbits
The only negative thing I could say is that the walk to Pooley Bridge was next to a very busy lane
