First stay, won't be our last!
The touring area is small compared to the rest of the site but there is enough space between pitches and all are very close to the shower block, water and waste.
The shower block, space wise is excellent with the biggest shower cubicles I have come across, and plenty of sinks and toilets. The downside being that there are no mops, toilet brushes etc to allow people (who want to) to clean up after themselves and leave things reasonable for others so they can become dirtier than some may like.
The play area for the kids is right behind the tourers and is excellent for all ages. There are big and small swings, a new wooden play area and a huge field with small goal posts so plenty of space for the kids to run off their energy.
The shop and bar are at the top of the park up a hill which didn't bother us at all but might others. The shop has a few basics and toys.
The bar is split into 2 with a family side and adult side. The family side has a few games and a pool table and there is the normal range of drinks, not too highly priced. It did seem a bit down and quiet and I'm not sure if they make the most of this good facility.
The lady warden seemed quite abrupt at times which was a bit disappointing but the fella was happy to chat and enquire if you were enjoying yourselves.
The site is at the top of the lakes and hence no matter where you go, simply stunning. Prices are reasonable and 'all in' with no hidden extras which I think is the way to go!
If I wanted to buy a static I think this is the type of place I'd be happy at and I look forward to staying again sometime.

This is a pleasant site for those wishing to do some walking in lovely surroundings.
It could be considered as being quiet but that is what most people visiting the lake district wish for.
The weather at the time we visited made it a little less than perfect but the site was clean and tidy albeit a bit on the damp side underfoot in places.
There is a small shop on site for the basics and a child friendly bar which opens in the evenings.
The toilet blocks are clean and tidy and have all one could wish for in a toilet block.
The surrounding areas are quaint and there are a few small pubs in the nearby village if you feel like a walk.
The scenery is what you would expect.Spectacular.And if you want a change there is a rather unique visitor centre several miles back towards the motorway, the Rhegged Centre, which will appeal to those requiring some retail therapy or wanting to see a film. Several small farms in the area have animal petting facilities which will appeal to those with children.
All things considered, including the sometimes inclement weather, this is a nice site to visit and would heartily recommend it.

This was our first outing as 'caravanners' and we choose this site as we like the area of Ullswater. We had read the reviews on this site and were very pleased with what we saw when we got there.
The tourer site wasn't very big but this isn't a bad thing. We found it a little bizarre that you could find your own pitch get sorted then go register at reception but it seems to work.
The toilet block was very clean and warm. The showers were lovely and warm and roomy.
There was a big playground which our 5 year old loved.
The reception and shop is at the top of a hill at the other end of the site but a pleasant walk. The shop had plenty in so if you found that you had forgotten something then you would probably find it here.
There were plenty of leaflets and information for ideas for days out which we found very useful.
Overall a very nice site and would definitely go back and recommend it.

Just back from a lovely 3 day break at this great family site.
The walk to Pooley Bridge was off road but across a hillside, so not really accessible for pushchairs but a lovely walk.
Showers and toilet blocks were large and clean, though hubby said there were not enough loo's in the male block, I cannot comment on this!
Dog walk was more of a dog zone, though this was not a problem, just head for the field walk to the lake.
Bar/lounge area is great for families, there's even books to borrow and loads of leaflets for planning your days.
Kids thought the play area was the best they have been to on a caravan site, loads of room for ball games too.
With a 10.30 quiet rule, we all had a good nights sleep.

As sites go this is up there with the best. Clean, tidy & well laid out.
The hardstanding pitch[ all pitches]was a blessing after the rainfall the area had in the days leading up to our time there.
The shop has newspapers, & a decent selection of food ,drinks etc.
The management have a very relaxed attitude toward arrival & payment. Pick a pitch & pay when you see them!
No point in rambling on,this site is spot on.

Stayed 7 nights from 14 July. Super, small, quiet, fairly level touring field surrounded by trees. All pitches have hardstandings and elect.
Spotless and plentiful loos/showers etc.
Well equipped children's' play area with large grassed area for ball games etc.
Great location. Short walk to pretty Ullswater [and boat trip jetty] and Pooley Bridge [good beer at the Sun Inn].
Short drive to Penrith [large Morrisons] and access to M6 J40.

We booked this site by chance, and was we lucky. The site is beautifully laid out and the toilets and wash up areas were spotless, there's also a small re-cycling area.
The site is quiet so if your looking for a peaceful holiday this is it, there is a large play area for children.
The wild rabbits were there in the hundreds and some were fairly tame, we also saw a Red Squirrel on the site and whilst walking into Pooley Bridge, there's plenty of places to walk, but some are on the road.
The site has a shop but is has limited openings but you can get your papers and bread in the morning.
Overall well pleased and will be going again

This was our second visit to this site, and it won't be our last! The staff are all really friendly and helpful. The site is a little away from Pooley Bridge, but a nice walk there, and easy to get around the north lakes. Easy to find. Kids play area is really good. Toilets ans showers very clean. Only problem we encountered was bottom end of site can get a bit wet after prolonged periods of rain, but it is the Lakes after all!

Lovely Site, very well kept with fantastic facilities. Our favourite site so far!
We visited through the lovely rainy weekend of May, stayed Sat, Sun and Monday night with a motorhome and touring caravan. As previous reviews have stated you arrive and pick your own pitch then pay at the shop or bar which ever is open when you want to pay.
We selected our pitch, hooked up, ate tea then hit the ‘bar’ well not sure its really a bar more of a large house with a bar in the corner! Anyway after the initial funny looks we gave each other when we went in we actually had a really good few hours in there. They have a pool table, dart board and other games. Dogs are welcome in the bar. Nice and clean too but it only opens Friday and Saturday nights.
Anyway after an early night we woke in the morning checked out the toilets and other facilities and I have to say we were amazed! The loos, showers, pot wash, clothes washing area are superb I’ve never been anywhere with such good clean and warm facilities.
There is a large park/play area for children which is a no go area for dogs (and rightly so I think when there are separate doggie facilities) so we just had a quick look in and I have to say it looked brilliant, swings and slides and a lovely large field to play football etc on.
Didn’t visit the shop as we had all we needed but if the rest of the site is anything to go by the shop will be top class too.
Dog walk is a little on the small size but was adequate for the quick toilet breaks my dogs needed after walking all day, there are plenty of walks from the site if the dogs need more exercise.
Wild rabbits all over the site, some quite tame too.
Location of the site is good, 20 min walk into Pooley Bridge which has some nice pubs and shops and is also the start of lots of walks in that area.
All in all we found this a very reasonably priced top class campsite and we hope to return when its not raining so much, though that’s good old English weather for us!

We arrived here on the Thursday evening for the may day bank holiday, there were only about 5 other vans, and you just pick your own pitch, and pay either in the pub, or at the shop whichever is open at the time. By friday night most of the 30 pitches were booked, there is plenty of room between pitches, but by sat morning it felt like you were just surrounded by tourers, with no scenery to look out on, but my main gripe was being in green static city, which is my pet hate, we knew that there were statics, but on the web site you couldn't see them from the touring area, it must have been the way it was photographed.
However I couldn't fault the facilities, the loos, and showers were always kept clean, and a nice touch is having a wash basin in each shower room, plus a plastic chair, there is also a pull down baby changing mat.
We had a couple of drinks in the bar, sit by the window, and enjoy the view down to the lake, and if you go behind the bar there is a lovely walk down to the lake, we could let the dog off here for a run, as the actual dog walk is just a 30 foot piece of grass.
Pooley bridge about 20 min walk away, with a couple of shops, cafes, and pubs, better to walk across the field to it, as no pavements by the roadside, and the traffic seems to speed along the lanes.
The children's playground looked very good, sited in a large playing field, dads, and kids playing cricket.
All in all a well kept site with everything you need, but don,nt expect a tv picture unless you bring a good ariel, we forgot ours !
