After visiting oban late at night we were looking for somewhere to park up for the night, I saw this park on the website and decided to give them a phone.

The owner was very helpful and accommodating, even though it was later at night he met me at reception and made us feel very welcome

The park was clean and well equipped with waste disposal and even able to fill my fresh water tank back up.

The toilet block was spotless and the showers were great

Would highly recommend this site.

Booked a 3 night stay in the bothy for myself and teenage daughter. Left after one night due to damp and having to kill moths etc during the night and throwing a frog out of the bothy about 12 o’clock at night.

The windows had been left open so guessing this is where the bugs came in. The front door lock didn’t work properly and was sticking. There was a hole at the front door next to the fridge and I’m guessing this is where the frog came in. Didn’t sleep a wink that night.

Not worth the money and no offer of refund from the owners. Bothy needs updated and having stayed in caravans, shepherd huts and glamping pods this was really disappointing.

Really nice location of site and cracking view from bothy but majorly let down by the inside of bothy and the lack of customer service by the owners.

Location - close for ferry stopover - little out of the way past new housing development, follow their (good) instructions on web site, not postcode.

No view (over Oban as expected as up hill behind the town).

Facilities clean but dated. Showers electric, poor steam but no extra charge.

Staff available on arrival.

Overpriced at £24

This is an interestingly laid out site on different levels which is a nice change from what are often landscaped fields.

I stayed for one night during the week which cost £18 and I think is reasonable for the facilities provided. It seems to be very much geared towards camping as there is a shelter to take refuse in and a covered over barbecue pit which is a nice touch.

There is a proper elsan point, a drain for campers with underslung grey tanks to empty and fresh taps dotted around the site. The taps all have the push on hose connector useful for campers with built in water tanks but no hoses provided, that I saw.

The pitch I chose was reasonably level although not perfectly. Each pitch has a 16 amp hookup point.

The shower block was functional but slightly dated, although this doesn't concern me. My main complaint about the showers is the old no place to get properly dried. Also, as the site was quite busy by mid morning the showers weren't as clean as they could have been, the usual grass dragged in.

This is one of those sites with signs everywhere! Please do this, don't do that, no dogs allowed etc.

Overall, a nice tidy site with an unusual layout, pretty good value for money and reasonable facilities.

Good location and great potential, but a bit of a let down and dated for £24 per night.

Also got asked when we were leaving the site on the morning of departure 30 mins before we were due ! (site was nearly empty) Hate when they do that !

Well signed from the main road into Oban from the south. Be aware that there are new roads & housing on approach, our recent OS map was misleadingly inaccurate. And best not to use the alternative approach from the shore side, especially with a caravan, as it's single track, narrow & very bendy.

The site is nestled in the bottom of a narrow glen, with no views of the sea nearby. Choice of different pitches to suit everyone, free Wifi (near the office hub), plenty of space & picnic tables. We found the owner very helpful and relaxed, but there is an excess of large signs, most of which aren't needed.

No problems with the free showers, lots of hot water. Motorhome dump & water very accessible. The site was extremely quiet, just the sound of birds - partly because no one could sit outside due to the clouds of biting midges. Come prepared!

We would come back but only if we didn't have the dog - the fields around have sheep & there was no safe place to let her off the lead to run.

Firstly the location is top class but the facilities are very tired and dated. The place could do with an overhaul which is a shame as it has great potential. I was charged £23 which for 2 people I felt was excessive (no hook up was required).

The male host was very pleasant but the female one was rather abrupt. I paid for one night and said I would most likely be staying a second but would let them know in the morning.

I twice rang the bell at reception in the morning but no-one appeared so headed off out reckoning that as my car and tent were still on site they would realise I was returning - am not going anywhere without them after all!

On my return rang the bell and was abruptly told that I had gone off without paying etc. True but I had tried to make contact with them.

I think I found the perfect site! Quiet, tranquil yet within walking distance of town. Beautiful surroundings the campsite is on different levels thus giving privacy. Great welcome with information, maps etc. Full facilities which are well maintained. Perfect.

We booked in for a 1 night stay, and the owner was friendly and helpful on arrival.

The pitches are well spaced, on different levels and we were close to the children's play area.

Showers/ toilets were clean and we didn't have to queue.

We walked down into Oban, which took around 40 mins (slightly longer on the way back due to the steep hill), but hardly any traffic so a nice walk.

We booked the site on the hope it would be quiet and away from traffic noise, which it is. We put our small tent on top of the hillock by the flag pole and had this to ourseleves for the whole stay. The location is really stunning, feeling well away from it all, yet really quite close to town.

On the other hillock by the fixed barbecue is a shed with tables and benches for small tent users to sit.

Previous posts have said there is no phone reception, but I had no problem texting on site. The site wifi only really works close to the reception building.

Showers, etc all fine, although you might have to queue when the site is full, as only two in each loo area plus one for the disabled. If I'm being really picky, I'd like to have a more powerful shower with a wider head, as on a cold wet day, you want to be able to ensure all of you is in the hot water flow!

We came by train and bike and used the old Glenshellach Road out of Oban which has been blocked off to cars, but not bicycles. (Cars have to route via the main A85 Soroba Road and the hospital. ) That of course means there is very little traffic, but do expect to push laden bikes up the steep hill.

Without our bags and the tent, it was no more than 10 minutes to ride into town, the large Tesco store being easily accessed en route. Coming back out we preferred the Gallanach Road via the Sound of Kerrera which gives you all the hill climbing at the campsite end. This road includes a gate, which is another reason there is almost no traffic past the site.

In Oban, an excellent place to eat your take out fish and chips is the park by the harbour lighthouse on the Ganavan Road (which heads north out of town to the Ganavan beach). This is perfect for watching the ships and gives a view over to Mull. I'm sure this makes the chips taste better.

For brunch, Roxy's Cafe (Combie St) was excellent. Good coffee, nice porridge and excellent value breakfast buns with bacon, sausage and egg or black pudding. Note it doesn't open until 09:00.
