My boyfriend and I stayed here in a two man tent for just the one night last weekend and we were both very impressed. The place is spotless and very well maintained. Was £10 for the two of us and we would definitely go again. There is a great barbecue area and the toilets and showers were again absolutely spotless. After some discussion we could not decide whether the walk into town was nearer 3 miles than the 1.5 it says. So we measured it in the car and indeed it is 1.6 miles so a pleasant half hour walk in and just about a fiver back in a taxi.

Just returned from a two day visit to this site. It's not a bad little site. Clean adequate toilets that are well kept with radio 2 playing all the time. The water was always hot and I never saw the toilets dirty or running out of anything. The site itself is very quiet at night with hardly any sounds, grounds are also well kept. It could do with a few more areas for grey water to be emptied and another skip for the rubbish. I must have caught this Angus guy on a bad few days when I arrived, his manner was not what I would call friendly, on arrival it was more like we had interrupted his day or something. All I got was the obviously well practised routine. "do you have pets, you putting up an awning, you want hard standing or grass. Toilets are closed from 12. 30. Don't go up past the toilets its private" etc etc. It was not the questions but the off handed way he asked them and his attitude in general. After all the questions it was made clear that the caravan had to be placed right dead centre of the marker post, even asked how I was at reversing. I presume he might have been on hand to do it for me with that statement, never asked nor need his help so no idea We had the hard standing area to the left of reception. Did give us full instructions on the location of the water points and such like. Also several times mentioned that the area above the toilets are private, and that we had to be off site by 11. 30. Not one friendly word despite my best efforts. Once set up though he was seldom seen apart from driving round the site now and again. Though why he drove round I don't know could walk round in about 5 minutes Never told us that there is a TV aerial lead next to the power socket (10 amp), only found that out after trying to get a picture from the caravan Aerial (no chance even with a booster) only found out after the second day. Pity as we would be leaving that day. Would have been better telling us that than going on about all the other stuff Was a mixed site with campers caravans and tents, nearest shop is about a mile down from the site at the bridge (its about half way down on your right) follow the road and its bends right over the bridge then takes a sharp left turn ( if you go straight its into an Ind estate that also has a gas supplier) follow the road and you will come to a mini round about turn left and your there, has a Lidi Tesco and a few other shops (Tesco has petrol station as well) One thing is, the access is up a twisty single track road (sign posted from the centre of Oban as the "Gallanach" ) this is another site I presume further up the road as no sign post for this actual site, it does how ever take you along to this one. I would hate to meet another caravan or motorhome coming the other way, as at certain points even with a passing place it could be a nightmare Overall its a good site, not that expensive (cost me £25 for 2 adults, hook-up, no awning ) its clean not that far from the town (about 2 miles) and its quite and with good toilets. Would I go back. Not in a rush, but would consider it if nothing better in the area

A very clean site with excellent showers and toilets. Angus, the owner, is very helpful and makes sure that the site is well maintained and is a peaceful place. We only stayed one night and as it was our first night we were too busy fighting with our tent to need any entertainment. However, we did go for a small walk and it was very pleasant. Highly recommended.

We have just come back from our very first family camping trip at this campsite! We enjoyed our night here very much, it was really just a night away to try out our new tent and kit etc. The surroundings are really beautiful and peaceful and the local ducks are very bold and come right up to the tent mooching for food! We pitched only around 40m or so from the toilet block, so was very handy for the facilities. The showers and toilets are very clean and in fact both the ladies and gents are closed for half an hour each day for cleaning which is a good sign. The toilets play Radio 2 which was good as it gave us continuity as that was what we were playing back at the tent. The site was quite quiet when we went so we really got our pick of where to pitch. The pitch we chose probably wasn't the most level in the world but I guess we could've chosen better taking that into account.
When we phoned to book we were told it would be £16 for 2 adults, child, car and tent (no EHU) however when we got there and Angus saw our child was only a baby (13 months) he only charged us for the 2 of us so it was £14. We will probably return to this site but maybe when it's a bit warmer!

Have stayed here a few times in past few years, always a pleasure. Angus could not be more helpful. Lovely clean site with excellent facilities in a beautiful setting. A wee piece of heaven on earth. The covered barbecue area with covered eating area to the side is superb for those not so nice days or even just to chill and meet others staying there. The toilet block is spotlessly clean and though the showers are pushbutton its hardly an inconvenience. The laundry and washing up facilities are attached to toilet block and again spotlessly clean. The playground though of no relevance to us is a super place for other folks kids as they need to let off steam, and give parents a break too. Oban is just a hop, skip and jump away and taxi costs little so you can enjoy an evening in town without worrying about how to get back. As for the area in general well its beautiful all round with too many lovely places to visit to be able to mention them all. I would recommend this site to anyone!

Fabulous little camping and caravan site. Facilities were very clean and tidy, lots of hot water for the showers in the morning. The bbq area is very well organised but remember to bring your own coals to cook on (all under roof so can cook even when its raining). Angus was very welcoming and couldn't have been more helpful. As the other comments say it is just outside of Oban but it feels like you are miles away from anywhere. Will definitely be back at some point recommended to all. Thanks Angus

It has taken me several days to get over the utter rudeness of the so called gentleman that unfortunately was present at reception. We had turned up just under a whole earth hour early to the campsite and were looking to check in. Because of this massive inconvenience of turning up, we were told we were rude for doing so when we did. The poor wee soul had cleaning duties to attend to and had no time to deal with us. Utter outrage when we asked if we could pay by debit card ! For a split second, I thought I may have said to the man that I'd just burned his house down but my lady confirmed later that day that I had indeed merely asked if it was ok to pay by card. Seeing the last review, it looks like this may be a common occurrence which I'd like to bring to potential campers attention. Be on your guard or alternatively head to the campsite that we did at Oban Caravan and Camping site where the whole setup is very professional, clean, cheaper and the surroundings are beautiful. The staff are first class also. Please believe me, this is not sour grapes. I'd just be annoyed if your greeting to Oban was as rude as ours and we're both glad we walked away from this park to the one we ended up in.

This site is in a beautiful location with great views but the pitches seem small. We were very excited about staying the night but things did not start so well - the reception we received from the owner was rude. I paid for 1 night. We were shown a very small pitch next to the children's playground - it was far too small a pitch and we would have been on top of the next tent!
I asked if there were any other pictures and was snarled at and shown to another pitch that was on a big slope! I could not face another snappy conversation with the owner to ask for my money back- so we left and went down the road to Oban Caravan Park, had a wonderful reception and stayed for a great 3 nights. I wrote to the owner asking for a refund but the reply said that he had no proof that we had not stayed the night.

Had a one night stay before catching the ferry from Oban. He also was happy to accommodate us for one night on Whit bank holiday and wasn't fully booked, fortunately as he had no note of or telephone booking. Lovely little site, very pretty nestled between the hills. Lane to it is a bit narrow and passes some industrial bits. Good toilets, didn't use laundry facilities. A bit of a walk into Oban about 1.75miles I think. Easy parking at Tesco, also has petrol station and cash machines. Would use again.

September 2005 Sorry to give a negative on this site, but we weren't too impressed with this place. A one night stopover before a Scottish island hop, we arrived with a small tent and were given quite short shrift by the owner. Must have caught him on a bad day! Radio 2 in the loos is a great idea, though to visit at 2am and have 'Flash' by Queen in the background was quite unnerving! The toilets and showers could do with some TLC and the laundry facilities were out of order (although we were not told of this until we tried to get tokens). A great site for the location, and possibly better suited for the larger caravans.
