Made welcome on arrival at site by owner. Was shown facilities which included 6 showers and toilets situated in 2 buildings.
Toilets and showers were clean with plenty of hot water. Site itself was a large field with EHU and individual water pipes to each pitch.
It was peaceful and relaxing with lovely views of the countryside. The road at certain times was extremely busy with farm vehicles but site is on a working farm with other farms close by

Payment is taken by bank transfer before you arrive. As you enter the site there is a notice board, which tells you which pitch you have.
We stayed on the Farm site and there are two other caravan fields as well as at least two camping fields. There are also camping pods and bunkhouses.
Pitches on the Farm Site are arranged around the outside and all are grass except for one hardstanding. The pitches are well spaced out and there are four fresh water taps in the field. EHU is 16amp. The field in front of the caravans is large.
The mobile phone signal was good but the wifi was not so good this year.
The children’s play park was open.
There are two toilet blocks with a total of at least 8 toilets and 8 showers (there may be more) and the possibility of hiring one of 4 private bathrooms. The facilities were cleaned at least 6 times a day. There were no restrictions on how many were using the facilities and there were reminders to socially distance. It may be an idea to time your visit to the showers, as there could be a drop in water pressure during peak times-the site was full whilst we were there. There was hand sanitizer outside of the toilets and showers and next to the CDP and waste disposal.
This site is ideally situated outside of the Lake District and there is an outdoor swimming pool in the village of Lazonby, although I did not check to see if it was open due to the pandemic.
Julie and Robert, who run the site, are really good owners.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, even though the weather was a little wet and windy the views are amazing!
The owners were very accommodating and nothing was too much trouble for them. They also know some great walks and the fire pits are a must for watching the sunset.
Very clean and lots of hand sanitiser around the site helping to keep you safe through COVID-19.

Lovely large open site with distinct areas such as for tents, groups etc. Our pitch was grass and nicely level. Showers etc housed in old farm buildings but we're fine.
Great walks on nearby river and 30 mins to village of Kirkoswald via a scenic route. Only a short drive to the Northern Lakes and plenty of quiet paths around. Great place to relax.
The owner was helpful and friendly. Hope to be back soon.

What a beautiful site. We stayed in the adults field which is across the road from the farm and main campsite. A hill of trees behind us, field with sheep next door, it was so nice to sit outside watching the swifts (or was it swallows) swooping by again and again.
Robert and Julie are incredibly well organised for Covid safety with gel available even at the bin areas, and had actually built 2 new stand alone toilets the week before we arrived.
One of the best we've ever stayed at, just back from our second visit this July!

Had our 4th visit to this lovely site just after lockdown lifted and we weren't sure what to expect. We needn't have worried. It was so well organised and the facilities were spotless, all covid measures had been taken but nothing was spoilt.
The location is perfect for social distancing - peaceful with fantastic views, fields to play and fly kites in, playground, river to splash in and lovely walks from your doorstep. It was busy but never felt crowded.
Its a working farm with a lot of character (and sheep) and the facilities are mostly in converted barns. There are some new private bathrooms to rent for your stay but sadly they were fully booked when we were there. However, the addition of a new sheepdog pup went down well with our daughter!
Robert and Julie are brilliant hosts and I'd recommend this site to anyone. Can't wait to go back.

Loved this site. Very clean and well kept. Robert and Lesley were so friendly and their new little pup is adorable.
Followed the river walk which was great, sad that the Inns weren’t open for a little rest but completely understandable at present.
Will definitely be back!

Just spent a relaxed and enjoyable week or so at this site. Didn't use the facilities due to the Covid, but they looked really nice and clean. Grass and hedges cut regularly and the grass was well drained. Good distance between plots. There is lots of space for children to play and a great looking playground provided though this was also closed at this time, due to the Covid. Both Robert and Julie, the site owners and all the staff are very friendly, helpful and approachable.
There is a lovely farm track down to the river that leads into walkways in both directions. The two local villages have pubs and a shop available, all within 1 mile - though only 1 pub was open during our stay. We would recommend the Fox and Pheasant in Armathwaite, a few miles further away, serving very good food at reasonable prices.
Only drawback to the whole experience, was the narrow entrance to the main van field (Witness the paint alongside the stone post!). You really need to swing hard left before turning in, if you have a longer setup. With a long estate car and van, it was not easy at all.
Sadly some addled campervan idiots decided to play music full blast at 02:00 in the morning of our last night there. Good to see they had moved on next day after a lot of complaints. This is no reflection on the site, but more on the incredibly ignorant attitude of some folks. Unbelievably there had been a similar outbursts of music in the tent field where a group of blokes threatened and frightened the farmers wife, Julie, when she reproached them. These ignorant selfish idiots should be ashamed of themselves.
Would definitely recommend for a quiet country break.

A October half term trip to mains farm in kirkoswald Cumbria was fantastic. We met friends on site who had a caravan and the owners put us in our tent right next to them as the site was quiet. Lovely warm friendly welcome from the owners.
Toilets and shower area kept clean at all times and are modern and showers very hot. Site offers a kitchen to cook in if you want too it's equipped with a double oven, grill, toaster, kettle and utensils. Also a converted barn with an electric fire and dining tables A lovely place for a get together when the weather is poor.
The site has a decent play area for the children and the river Eden runs along the bottom of the site a lovely walk.
All in all one of the best sites we have visited and will be back at Easter
