Amazing campsite In a stunning location.
Owners were extremely warm and welcoming and took time to show us around the site. They even offered to help me put my tent up as they knew it was the first time on my own and were very accommodating when my friend and her 2 children ended up joining me for the last 2 nights.
Play park was basic but it didn't matter because there is so much to do.
We rented one of the fire pits one night to toast marshmallows and ended up having about 12 children join us. This was such a special night and My 2 children will never forget it. Shame more campsites don't offer it.
Washing facilities were excellent. Plenty of sinks and shower cubicles were clean. They also had a large fridge freezer which came in very useful as I didn't have electric hook up. There was also lots of information left out about local restaurants and walks.
I would definitely recommend this campsite and I will be going back.

We have just spent another enjoyable week on this site, for the 4th year in a row. The best thing about this site is the owners, Rob and Julie who are very welcoming and helpful. The next best thing is its location, which is on a small farm next to the scenic river Eden and about a mile from the village. The site is peaceful and picturesque and the facilities are great. Fabulous cycling on the doorstep, Rob will recommend routes. Nearby Lazonby has a community run outdoor swimming pool and good sized Co-Op.
We thoroughly recommend this site.

This site was one of the first we visited, as we've only been caravanners since May 16 and we wanted somewhere relatively close to home for our first adventures.
Mains Farm is a working farm and the owners clearly work exceptionally hard maintaining the farm/camping business and they were very helpful and pleasant.
We visited this site twice; leaving our caravan in storage at the site so we could return the next week. On our return, our unit was sited and ready for our use.
We found the site to be quiet with spacious pitches - some with lovely views over the surrounding countryside. The ablutions were very clean and well maintained. We stayed on the River Site both times and have nothing untoward to say about the site, the facilities, or our hosts.
The Lake District is a beautiful place and all of it is within driving distance from the site.
The nearest town, with a couple of lovely pubs (serving food) and mini-mart type shop, is just under a mile away.
The husband is hoping to find some cycling routes for mountain biking and I'll be chilling, with a good book and glass of wine, while he's gone.
We definitely will go back very soon and look forward to it. A great site for getting away from it all and just being.

We spent 4 nights here over the Easter weekend. Despite the rain which was heavy at times the field seemed to drain quickly. The toilets and showers were always kept clean & tidy.
We went to visit family in Scotland for the day and also spent a day exploring the Lake District. It is in a good position for sightseeing and the surrounding area is lovely. The owners are so lovely and helpful and even let my daughter bottle feed the lambs which was the highlight of her stay. We will definitely go back there if in the area and I would highly recommend it.
Being on the C2C route I have been recommending it to friends who love walking as the bunk rooms looked perfect.

Fantastic site, very hospitable owners, no rules posted in your face on arrival! Will re-visit this site, loved the relaxed attitude!
I'm not interested in quality of showers, whether they are hot or cold, or how long you get, or about how many there are or if you you have to wait! This is a very minor issue of my holiday!

Shhhh don't tell anyone about this site! It is just too good! Thanks for a lovely weekend Julie, we absolutely loved it and will be back. We loved the quiet farm feel, the toilets etc were excellent with very hot water. The kids loved the park, and the village was less than a mile to walk to, with good pubs and a village shop (with free cash machine).
Absolutely couldn't fault it.
Thanks!

We have just spent 5 nights at Mains Farm, The site is larger than when I visited it as a 5 van site when it first opened. A more inclusive set-up means that there are more pitches and tent campers can stay there. The owners are welcoming. Facilities are very comprehensive; plenty of showers toilets including disabled which is invaluable if a member of your party needs more room or an assistant. Plenty on scope for dog walking and swimming straight from the site. You can sit in the swing seat and watch your dog swimming. A longish leisurely walk via the river path is preferable to walking the mile along the road to the pub. The area is delightful. Glorious walks from the site to laceys caves and long meg stone circle. There is tourist information, our visit coincided with the tour of Britain cycle race and a huge map of the race was pinned up in the utility room. Very good value at £16 per night with electric.

Just returned from a two night stay at mains farm and very impressed lovely warm reception by owner and shown were to pitch. £16 pound per night with electric and water tap on pitch, first time pitched up on grass pitch but there is a couple of gravel pitches.
Good warm showers. Kitchen for campers and caravanners to use - toaster microwave oven etc.
Nice walk to river with a swing seat on banks of river. Kids play area a bit muddy and dated but I'm sure they are aware of it.
Washer and drier to use for clothes washing.
Pubs in village beautiful ale and food village has a small shop as well. Basic site but homely.

A rural site, working farm.
Large field with fair space between vans, Field is quite rutted and care needs to be taken entering and exiting as it does move van around quite badly.
The site is very large and spacious, lovely walks to the river where swinging chairs are available to use.
Very dog friendly, well some of the campers were!
Tents vans and pods all separated around site, so field of vans only.
Was a good holiday on the site, but at times some of the children needed guidance on behaviour and cheekiness to other people, some what tainted the holiday, but again this is not sites fault.
Owners helpful, but did need to go and find the waste disposal and facilities, Male showers one of them needed up dating and cleaning poor water pressure out of this, other one not to bad. Ladies showers were excellent.
Fair walk to get waste disposed of but fresh water at the van so that was handy.
Overall not a bad site would I use it again yes probably. Depending on time of year.

We spent 4 nights at Mains Farm and even though the weather wasn't very kind to us we had such a nice time. Julie couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful, there were loads of showers/toilets/washing up areas which were all clean and even a kitchen with oven, hob, fridges and a freezer, plus microwave, kettle, crockery etc. We will definitely go back as the area was beautiful too, a lovely peaceful site with lots of walks nearby. Fantastic place!
