Back for our annual get together this time with grandson for a few nights also.
There is a new camping/caravan field called the meadow which has lovely views over the valley.
There was plenty of hot water and the pressure was consistently good.
The facilities were kept very clean despite the weather being mixed.
As ever a Julie and Robert are great hosts.

Lovely campsite on working farm, great views.
Within a 20-30 minute walk to pub.
Lots of nearby walks.
Owners friendly/helpful.
Been here camping many times non EHU but alas their prices of £35 per night for 2 persons is in the main too expensive for us now 😢

Amazing stay. Have stayed here the last 2 summers and wow it gets better every time.
Firstly the location is a safe rural place with plenty to explore.
Kids loved the playground and mixing with the other children.
The river is nearby but safely far enough so the children can't get to it.
The honesty shop is a delight.
Showers and toilets are always clean and fresh.
Washing up facilities all over. Plenty of parking and excellent value for money.
The views are amazing. Campfires are lovely. I can't express how lovely this place is.

We have just spent another enjoyable 6 days on this site. We were pitched on the farm site which is level and the pitches are very spacious. It was very peaceful, we particularly like the fact that they have a no music policy.
The toilets and showers were always clean and warm and the dishwashing area always had hot water. There is a small honesty shop which sold sweets, cakes, eggs and other goodies.
The village is an easy 20 minute walk along the (quiet) road, and I gather that you can also walk to it along footpaths. We walked to the Crown Inn for a delicious evening meal. We cycled most days, there are some lovely quiet roads nearby but it is quite hilly! Nearby Lazonby has a community run outdoor swimming pool and a good sized Co-Op.
The location of this site is beautiful and as ever, the owners Julie and Rob were super friendly and helpful.

We first visited this site about 10 years ago when it was a CL and bunkhouse. Now it has around 50 pitches arranged in small fields so it doesn't feel like a big site and still has a CL in addition.
Showers toilet/laundry and WiFi room all excellent.
Location is good with walks off the site and a really helpful orientation leaflet given out on arrival. You can walk to the river Eden and swim in it and there are benches set up for picnicking or just enjoying the view.
We were on the CL which is now on the other side of the road from the main site so very peaceful except for the farm dogs!
This is a working sheep farm and the dogs are kept in a shed which is directly opposite the CL. I suspect their bouts of loud barking are not audible from elsewhere on the site but if you had a reactive dog it might be an issue.
The site owners seemed to be a bit stretched the weekend we were there so possibly need a few extra hands needed to keep up the high standards.

We were back again with friends for our annual visit. Mains Farm has been for us a great place to spend time.
We booked on line and found the process very easy. There are three caravan fields. One of which is adults only and three tent fields. The pitches are mainly level although you may need chocks on some of the pitches on the adult part.
The Farm site has had its entrance widened significantly and those with wider caravans will have no trouble getting through the gates.
All caravan pitches have16A electricity and roughly one water tap between each pitch.
There is free wifi available but you need to go to the wifi hub next to the house.
The TV signal was very good but this year the mobile signal was inconsistent. You will still need to time your shower visits well when the site is very busy unless you like cold showers. Early morning or later in the day there was no problem with the hot water.
The park was very popular with the children on site.
There is now a motor-home grey water emptying point on site.
The Fetherstone in Kirkoswald is good for drinks and food. Melmerby, which is not too far away has a good tearoom. There are also druid stones not too far from the campsite.
As ever the site owners, Robert and Julie, were fantastic.

This is an excellent site with excellent facilities - Good showers.
Clean toilets and sheltered washing up area.
The tent area was completely flat with good space between pitches.
Julia and Robert were very friendly and helpful hosts. An excellent site to explore the Eden Valley.
Our only suggestion would be to reserve one field as a quiet - Adult only- area

This was our first visit to Mains Farm and it was a fantastic experience.
It was a very busy weekend, celebrating the Platinum Jubilee, but the site was always tidy, with plentiful, clean facilities and plenty of hot water, including for washing up.
There was a bring your own picnic on Saturday, in a field by the river, with live music which the owners had organized.
The views from our pitch were spectacular, over the wild flower meadow to the river and beyond.
We will definitely return to this site to explore more of the area and to eat out again at The Fetherston Arms in the pretty village of Kirkoswald; the pies were amazing! We also used the community shop in Kirkoswald, they seem to stock most things, and have the daily newspapers.
The village is about a mile away from the site by road, which we felt safe walking along, or a bit longer along the river bank and permissive path through a field.
Thank you for a brilliant weekend.

Site with lovely views. Great facilities and very safe during covid restrictions.
Well maintained and super friendly to adults children and dogs.
Baby lambs to see close up and great experience for kids. Town near by and good attractions close. Plenty of paths if you fancy a longer walk to nearby to towns when pubs are open.
Our third time here and it won't be our last.
