We go to this campsite most weekends through the summer, portaloo down the bowl( these are regularly cleaned but still don't smell fresh I would rather walk up to the electric site), portacabin up by the electric site, these are very clean and plenty of hot water, nice showers as well,
Friendly campsite any problems are dealt with straight away, there's a security guy who walks around until the early hours
I would recommend this campsite lovely walks the beach is right in front of you, lovely pubs for meals. The Hi tide has entertainment outside most weekends, depending on weather which is great.

Location is great, right on the beach and a pub, town, funfair in walking distance. That's about it. £20 cash on arrival for deposit for the barrier card. (Wasn't advised before hand so if I didn't have cash on me, I would've had to either tow the van through town or park up and walk. Neither would've been a good start to the holiday)
Fresh water is right next to the toilet disposal point. Dish washing area in a metal sink and drainer with no weather shelter. Toilets are a portacabin which is clean. Can't comment on the showers as we didn't use them. Music can be heard from the funfair next door until about 10pm ish, which isn't bad, just a repetitive boom boom.
If you're looking to stay in Porthcawl, I recommend Brodawal in Moor Lane. Much nicer.

My Husband and I have just returned home from the High Tide Inn campsite and thoroughly enjoyed our holiday at Porthcawl. The owner and all his staff were very nice and helpful. The site was so lovely, we were at the top end of the site, with sea views and lovely walks amongst the sand dunes with our dog.
The toilet block was very clean and tidy and was cleaned at least twice a day, with nice hot water, soft paper towels to dry your hands and the shower block also had lovely hot water and was very clean.
Everything is on your doorstep, with the High Tide Inn for beautiful meals, and superb entertainment, then there is the fair, again very good, the little shops were very good, then there is a lovely walk into the town and a nice walk along the seafront towards the jetty. Everyone we met there was so friendly, and we hope to go back there in October this year for another little holiday by the sea.

Well first trip of the year there last weekend and still love it, so many childhood memories.
Site is as has been said before very basic but with the pub, beach, fair and town all there it doesn't need much.
Noise from the pub and fair is very limited and does not go on late, whilst toilets and showers are portaloo variety they are clean with piping hot water and the male toilets have been increased size wise this year.
Took the dog for first time ever and he loved it to, was we live relatively close we will be using this for short last minute breaks over the summer.

We booked this site as it is SO handy for everything - beach, pubs, food, Hi Tide bar. We were also attending the Elvis Festival.
We were in the lower Bowl which has very basic facilities - portaloos, water in a bowser.
However, we are in our own caravan so can exist perfectly happily with our own facilities.
It was very busy because of the Festival but we had plenty of room and didn't feel overcrowdwd.
The sites with electric (at the top of the site) looked very cramped but as we weren;t there I can't really comment.
For what we required it was ideal. We have been to other sites in the area with better facilities but they are so far out it means taxis everywhere

Bit lost at where to start really with this one. Maybe some on here will know what I am on about when I say that I was brought up on caravan holidays in Porthcawl or as it was better known during Miners fortnight Hiya But Bay.
First off its not for those who want a peaceful quiet site to sit and lounge around in. The facilities are very basic with the toilet and waste emptying point side by side and only one sink with just cold water for washing up but we were more than happy to use facilities in the van.
The toilets although portacabin were clean can't comment on the shower as was only there for one night and we again are more than happy to use the facilities in the van
The pitches are decent size and not on top of each other and whilst there is obviously a lot of noise from the fair, amusements and pub that is also part of why we went so can't complain about it. There is also a path that goes straight through which is open to public and people can just walk onto the site so you may want to be careful what you leave outside the van etc.
The main attraction for me is that within a minute you are on the beach and that's what I love and remember as a kid.
Would I use this site again then yes at least for a short 2/3 night break would I recommend it yes but don't expect the height of luxury it is what it is. I wish that either the local council or tourist board would get involved and help improve it in the areas where it needs it.

Been here about six weekends so far this year. Pitches a lot bigger with lovely grass between each pitch. Same facilities as last year. As pitches bigger not so many units crammed in together. A big difference between electric and none electric pitches but prices for electric do drop at end of august. This site is really needed in porthcawl on a permanent basis. Caravans and motorhomes have to have somewhere to park up if porthcawl wants to encourage tourism. We go up town and spend money there and the entertainment in the hi tide is free in the main room every day during main months and then weekends. Hope the council allow the site to stay open all year. We only live a few miles away but love coming here. What more does anyone want if you have children. You have the sea sand fair swimming pool a short distance away at parkdean and all for paying one price to stay at this site. Have already booked up again to return.

We have just returned from the high tide touring park, and will not be going again. The facilities are very basic, water toilet emptying and portable toilet with no showers. There is electric hook up but only 10 amp. , there is one washing up sink with only cold water.
We went for the weekend with our grandchildren because it is so close to Sandy bay beach, a safe sandy beach for children. Or so we thought. Friday night we didn't sleep at all, when the high tide pub closed lots of youths were using the site as a cut through, most very merry if not drunk and very noisily they were climbing over the gate dropping their beer bottles on the way. We didn't feel safe and wondered if our chairs ect would still be there in the morning. The sound travels at night and they continued to party just outside the site till the morning. When we looked in the morning there was broken glass around the back of our motorhome. There was supposed to be a security guard we didn't see any sight of one. When we came back to the site after spending the day on the beach people from the car park were washing the sand off their children in the washing up sink one child was even going to the toilet in the sink! They were queing up to use the toilets there were only 3 anyway, none of them were staying on the site. The beach was dirty with litter and washed in litter no attempt was made to clean it up it has shamed Porthcawl. Then on the incoming tide there was sewerage coming in ! We were glad to leave and felt ill thinking we had all been swimming in the sea, a blue flag! it is not.

Have just come back from a few days away in our caravan. The site has very basic facilities - toilets, electric and waste disposal. No showers (glad to get home for one) or a play area, but it is on the beach and the kids had a great time riding around on their scooters. It is a pretty open site, and anyone can wander onto it, so you do need to keep an eye on your children!
It is very close to the Hi-Tide amusement arcade, pub/restaurant, which we didn't visit as the prices were quite steep - a discount for those in the touring park would be great. Ideal for going to Coney Beach fair and easy enough for a stroll into Porthcawl or over to a Trecco Bay. Only half an hour to St Fagans which is well worth a visit as there is no entrance fee, just car park fee (£3. 50). Great day out. Within spitting distance to Sandy Bay, which was sadly, a little messy with litter and the steps to the beach were dodgy (not the fault of the touring park, I know).
All in all, I would recommend the site and we will be going back - just don't expect too much from it. We were a little worried that we would be kept awake by the fair and anyone that had been to the Hi-Tide and was a little worse for wear, but were pleasantly surprised. If you are a late sleeper, you may be disturbed by the market traders setting up (8am), but we're early birds so it didn't bother us. I thought that £25 per night for a caravan with awning and electric was a little too much bearing in mind the basic facilities, but when you consider the location. Looking forward to our next holiday there.
