We have just returned from the high tide touring park, and will not be going again. The facilities are very basic, water toilet emptying and portable toilet with no showers. There is electric hook up but only 10 amp. , there is one washing up sink with only cold water.
We went for the weekend with our grandchildren because it is so close to Sandy bay beach, a safe sandy beach for children. Or so we thought. Friday night we didn't sleep at all, when the high tide pub closed lots of youths were using the site as a cut through, most very merry if not drunk and very noisily they were climbing over the gate dropping their beer bottles on the way. We didn't feel safe and wondered if our chairs ect would still be there in the morning. The sound travels at night and they continued to party just outside the site till the morning. When we looked in the morning there was broken glass around the back of our motorhome. There was supposed to be a security guard we didn't see any sight of one. When we came back to the site after spending the day on the beach people from the car park were washing the sand off their children in the washing up sink one child was even going to the toilet in the sink! They were queing up to use the toilets there were only 3 anyway, none of them were staying on the site. The beach was dirty with litter and washed in litter no attempt was made to clean it up it has shamed Porthcawl. Then on the incoming tide there was sewerage coming in ! We were glad to leave and felt ill thinking we had all been swimming in the sea, a blue flag! it is not.

Have just come back from a few days away in our caravan. The site has very basic facilities - toilets, electric and waste disposal. No showers (glad to get home for one) or a play area, but it is on the beach and the kids had a great time riding around on their scooters. It is a pretty open site, and anyone can wander onto it, so you do need to keep an eye on your children!
It is very close to the Hi-Tide amusement arcade, pub/restaurant, which we didn't visit as the prices were quite steep - a discount for those in the touring park would be great. Ideal for going to Coney Beach fair and easy enough for a stroll into Porthcawl or over to a Trecco Bay. Only half an hour to St Fagans which is well worth a visit as there is no entrance fee, just car park fee (£3. 50). Great day out. Within spitting distance to Sandy Bay, which was sadly, a little messy with litter and the steps to the beach were dodgy (not the fault of the touring park, I know).
All in all, I would recommend the site and we will be going back - just don't expect too much from it. We were a little worried that we would be kept awake by the fair and anyone that had been to the Hi-Tide and was a little worse for wear, but were pleasantly surprised. If you are a late sleeper, you may be disturbed by the market traders setting up (8am), but we're early birds so it didn't bother us. I thought that £25 per night for a caravan with awning and electric was a little too much bearing in mind the basic facilities, but when you consider the location. Looking forward to our next holiday there.

We used this site since it first opened on many occasions but each time the price went up until the present cost. We do not use it any more as facilities are very poor, portable toilet unit poor wsstewater facilities (no independent drain) dish wash unit is cold tap on old tin sink. Other users note the same. Last visit we were jammed in within the 'compound area' and had to ask others to move their units to leave. The site ground has been improved but very poor value for the asking price (10amp is low for the asking price). Our last visit a generator was stolen on site. Time before steps went missing from a unit. A foot path passes through the site.

Stayed here last year and the layout has improved with fewer units in one area but this has come at a price and has bumped the nightly fee up to £22 which I find quite expensive what you get. Cold water washing up area porta loo and no showers with power only being 10amp. Unit next to me tried to use a toaster tripped the power with no help from the site telling him how to reset the power.
We will not return as do not believe it is value for money !

Stayed at this site last year must say that the layout has greatly improved it now has all electric pitches up on the top site, each pitch has a grass area this year, the owner told me that the site called the bowl area (all grass area ) is being opened this June, site was perfect for our Easter break £12 per night plus £5 for 10 amp electric, the toilets were clean and plenty of bins out on the site

We stayed a few weekends at the site. Pitches for electric hook up were too close but as this was the first time site was open with facilities made allowances. The toilets were always spotlessly clean but could have done with a bin. There is never much in Porthcawl to encourage the growing trend for motorhomes and caravan owners. We went in the hi tide inn each night which serves a good elections of food throughout the day and night with entertainment every weekend. We also made new friends who we now meet up with regularly.
We only live about twenty miles away from Porthcawl but have always liked the town and it's shops.

We stayed here for 2 nights and were disappointed with the lack of facilities. There were no showers and only one toilet for men. There was no hot water for washing up or just washing!
The pitches were much too small and in case of a fire potentially dangerous.
On the plus side there were several nice pubs in walking distance and the beach was fantastic.
As the site has only been open for a short time I hope that the owners will learn from the reviews as the position is very good and this could turn into a good site.

Stayed at this site for the first time. Great location next to the beach, for only £10 a night. The owner explained that they only had a 6 month trial basis with their local council, after that period they were hoping for a longer lease to enable a shower block and re set out the site after this summer. The local pub hitide had free entertainment every night
And a firework display on Tuesdays. Looking forward to coming back in August then the Elvis Festival in September
