We had another superb stay at Grange Farm (see previous review from July 2016). Once again the weather did not disappoint, with very strong winds, heavy rain and hot sun testing our aged airbeams to the limit and very nearly beyond it. I've said it before, but bring more rock pegs than you think you can possibly need, and then buy a couple of packs of the 9' nail pegs they sell at the shop. You will also need a hefty claw hammer because the ground is unbelievably hard: our hitherto trusty mallet snapped like a fresh courgette.
The re-vamped facilities are an improvement, but only a cosmetic one apart from the new bath. All the facilities were in need of a good, deep clean. We used the laundry this time round and it was pretty effective on the hot wash - I can recommend the middle washing machine and the top left dryer.
As the weather improved, the site filled up with joy-filled families, tourers, goths, Dutch 'pro' campers, German students etc etc. It was full of life and interest (I'd never seen a Karsten in the flesh, but there were two here) and the most pleasingly social camping trip I've experienced. We had some wonderful sunsets and there would be quite a gathering at the cliff top to enjoy watching the sun going down. The night skies were excellent too, with very little light pollution.
The beach was good this year too, with far less 'winter shingle' and much more sand exposed. Grange Farm is in a wonderful area, far less built up than the more popular eastern side of the island.
The staff continue to be very helpful and the street food from visiting vans remains popular.
I managed to trip the EHU at the bollard whilst drawing less than 3kw, so probably best treat it as a 10A supply.
To sum up, it's not a perfect site, but we did have as nearly perfect a holiday as we could possibly have hoped for. Well done Grange Farm; I suspect we'll be seeing you next summer.

Fantastic clean site, the large tent area was unfortunately closed but we were sited on a good part, only 2 minor drawbacks
1, like other sites the pitch wasn't clearly marked.
2, the ground was rock hard and we ended breaking a lot of our pegs.
Overall a good holiday and great site

Lovely site, friendly staff, beautiful views. Beach is down a slope, then onto quite big stones, there are some sandy patches and okay for dogs. The shop had everything you could need including warm Danish pastries for your breakfast, delicious! Only gripe I have is that I emailed the site to book on and they emailed me back to inform me we didn't have to book for one night, we arrived when we said we would to be told they had no record of us booking! I showed them the emails I had received from them, they were very good as they wasn't busy. So even if you're only going for one night make sure you have it confirmed! The site is a little isolated, but ìt does have everything you need. Showers are a bit small but everything was spotlessly clean.

We have just spent Easter at Grange Farm and was able to park our motorhome on a hard standing position that gave us a wonderful view of the coast to wake up to. The site has good toilet and shower facilities and a small shop for some essentials. All members of the family were very friendly and pleasant a despite battling against the not so friendly weather, always had a smile and a helping hand for damp campers and those that got stuck in the mud.

We arrived on the Saturday 26th of Aug the bank holiday weekend and as to be expected the place was rammed with happy campers and practically all the best clifftop pitches were taken (which is where we like to pitch ) but with help of David the site owner managed to get us a pitch perfect for us.
There was still plenty of pitches available away from the clifftop edge further back towards the on site shop, even though the site was busy it didn't feel cramped in any way.
The shower blocks had been completely re-vamped and all tiled out to a great standard and were a joy to use, always a shower available and never had to queue once.
The play area was as usual filled with the sound of kids having a good time, all joining in with a game of football with a few dads and mums showing off their skills too.
Our pitch was a maxi pitch with EHU, we had two cars plus small trailer and as usual we had plenty of space.
The site shop was fine with hot croissants available.
Nearby in Brighstone there is a good pub with an extensive gluten free menu called the Three Bishops and a very good local shop full of local Veg and produce which opens at 7. 30 mon-fri and 8. 30 on a sunday.
Not a bad thing to say about this site it fits our needs completely and as always we had a brilliant 7 nights here and cant wait till our next trip here although unfortunately that wont be until 2018 maybe spring time.

We stayed here for 3 nights and watched the Round the Island boat race, best campsite to sit and watch it. The shower rooms have been completely refurbished, they have been nicely tiled and have new cubicles. Could do with more hooks, but that is being really picky.
Brighstone is a 20 minute walk away or 5 minute cycle ride. We had a meal in the 3 Bishops pub, nice meal and friendly staff. We bought local produce from the grocery shop, well stocked on fresh fruit and veg.
We made use of the fish and chip van which visits the site on Fridays. There is a curry van on Saturdays. We love this site, even though we live on the island, it's a pleasure to stay here.

Lovely friendly site in beautiful coastal location. Not many people about as low season but all facilities open and well maintained. Nice to have the bakery on site and also liked the book exchange.
Some good cycle rides in the area and the coast walks were very bracing.
Toilets and showers very clean, some refurbishment going on but no problems.
All sorts of campers using the site from small tents to motor homes and caravans.
Village is a pleasant 15 minute walk via footpath and Shorwell only 25 mins by bike.
Would definitely stay here again.

Not usually one to write a review, but I have had such a nice time here, I just wanted to echo everything that everyone else has said really, a charming and welcoming site complete with Alpacas, whats not to love? We have probably had a different experience to most as the site wasn't very busy at all due to it being the October half term. Its been mentioned before, but I will say it again, do your homework with the winds! The only other large tent apart from ours that was there only lasted a few hours before poles got broken, they had pitched exactly where we were pitched two days previously, the winds at that time were around 20 mph constant, when we were pitched there it had been in excess of 30 mph, but I knew in our Karsten we were good for it. The only reason we had moved the tent further back was because of the noise, I've not seen it mentioned in the reviews, but if you pitch right on the cliff edge as we did, the waves at night are really loud! The bigger waves that were hitting the beach we could actually feel from our beds! All that aside, its a truly beautiful place to be, the facilities were clean and you could order fresh cooked pastries to be picked up in the morning. Sent child out to pick them up at 9am and they were still warm. I choose this site after reading these reviews and I'm glad I did, things may be different if the site is really busy, but for my visit it was ace.

We arrived on the 23/8/16 one of the hottest days of the year so was pretty hot work pitching. The site was quite busy but there was still plenty of choice of pitches available, as we take two cars a trailer and large tent the maxi pitches are of ample size. The site is oldy wordly just as we like it. The toilet/shower blocks are all kept clean and regularly stocked with toilet roll and paper towels etc. The playground area is always full of happy kids enjoying themselves. Nearby in Brighstone about a mile away is a local store shop which has a good selection of veg and fruit also local meats and produce which opens at 0700. The site shop has a few camping accessories which is handy. The site owners Dave and his wife are always welcoming as are his staff and will do their best to help out in any situation. There was slight confusion on the signage for the chemical waste disposal site one of which stated for kitchen liquid waste only but was in fact for the toilet waste too. No disappointment with the site at all. We absolutely love the site and do not have a bad word to say about it. Our only disappointment came on our last night when we went for a meal in the Three Bishops pub in Brighstone which boasts a large gluten free menu which is handy, as we have a son that is coeliac and we normally have packed away our cooking gear by then, the gluten free meal was fine but my eldest sons and my steak meals were not the high standard we had there last time and for the cost I did expect better.
Back to the site, a brilliant quiet family back to nature dog friendly site.

I stayed here for a week with my daughter at the end of July and into early August. We pitched about 50 yards back from the edge of the cliff on an EHU 'Maxi pitch'. It had been dry for a while and the ground was like iron. There was absolutely no chance of getting my plastic Deltas in and it was even a struggle with 8mm T-bars, but 6mm rock pegs were manageable. We didn't have enough of those to do all the pegging points, so there was some bodging and anxiety as the wind got up (and up, and up). Torrential, horizontal rain blew in through the vents, which kept blowing open. Tip: de-fluff your velcro. A lot of fibreglass poled tents ended up damaged, so unless the forecast is flat calm I'd suggest steel poles or air beams for this site and plenty of good rock pegs - you may want to cross-peg as the ground softens a bit in rain - and extra guy lines. I also found clingons and little bungees useful to keep the awning's mud valances down.
GPSranger's points (June 2016) are spot on - the impression if you're being critical is very much of whitewashed breeze block walls and tired out fibreglass - but I think that goes for much of the Isle of Wight outside of Cowes, and is part of the Island's period charm (ca. 1978). Other than that it's a real hit. The grass is well cut and there are all the camping resources you need from spare pegs to EHU cable hire, to pods and statics if your tent gets flattened. The site shop is very useful (9am - 6pm) although the Village Shop (7am - 7pm and 8:30 - 5:30 Sundays) is better for food and does booze: lots of real ale. There's a little Co-op in Carisbrooke which is open till 11pm and I think 10pm on Sundays. There's a big new Co-op in Freshwater, 10 mins up the coast road, and a Blacks, a Millets and a Mountain Warehouse in Newport.
The other facilities all work well and queues were rare even on very busy week ends. The push taps are a pain, particularly at the washing up sinks, but the family shower room and bathroom were great. The laundry facilities looked a bit mid-20th century industrial with reassuring signs saying things like 'this machine now works, but it makes a LOT of noise'.
Food vans visit at least every other afternoon - fish and chips, curries and superb pizza in rotation whilst we were there. The atmosphere is good and relaxed and the staff are friendly, helpful and busy. Recycling facilities are comprehensive, so it's worth separating your rubbish.
To sum up, it's a perfect site for visiting the Isle of Wight, but not cheap, especially when you add £50 each way for the ferry. If you're a first time camper or have fibreglass poles, pitch well back from the cliff and if possible in the lee of a caravan or a stout tent (there's little or no natural cover). If you can, bring too many rock pegs, spare guy line, lineloks, clingons, and a stout claw hammer. We really enjoyed it and will definitely be back, I hope for a fortnight next time.
