We spent 15 nights as a family of 6 (two adults and four children aged 3 to 9), August 2009.
This site is excellent in many respects. It would be possible to pick many items to highlight but the one which immediately springs to mind are the staff. The owners and their team make this site the success it is. They run the site just how a campsite should be run. They have struck a balance between rules and being sensible, they are willing to help you out when in need, they have time to talk and do an excellent job at running the site smoothly.
The site is flat or as near as. The various fields (we were there in the height of the season when the overflow fields are open) are well marked out, the shop is well stocked with all your camping essentials. The 9am delivery of warm bread and croissant causes quite a stir! The children's playground is excellent and our children loved it, the farm animals are also fun. It's possible to camp right on the edge of the fenceless cliff however there's plenty of pitches a good distance from the edge so no problems for the little ones. The toilets, showers and wash-up are clean and tidy. The overflow fields have their own temporary toilets which relieves some of the pressure on the main block. The facilities are constantly cleaned throughout the day, no complaints about their cleanliness. In fact, on a 4am loo visit the shower block was being cleaned!
At no point were the facilities too busy. The owners seem to have the balance right and the numbers were just right. The site didn't feel cramped and we had plenty of room. As with any campsite there may be peak time queues for the showers but nothing unexpected (we just go at non-peak times and we're always straight in).
The area is wonderful. Lots of beaches and walks. The West side of the island is like a different world - we felt we'd stepped down at least four gears from the normal family hustle and bustle. You can't rush around, the roads don't allow it! However if you crave the bright lights it's only 20 - 30 minutes drive to the big towns. Brighstone is a lovely village with church, library, post office, newsagent and excellent village shop. Freshwater is the nearest bigger town with the nearest supermarket. The drive along the coast to Freshwater is fantastic with views far out to sea. Some of our highlights were Needles (not the fun park!), Mottistone Manor, Dinosaur Farm, Fossil Hunting (highly recommended), lolling on a beach, walking the downs, Needles Breezer bus with amazing views over Alum Bay, Bembridge.
A review wouldn't be complete without mentioning the weather! This is a cliff top site and is exposed to the weather. In 15 nights we had one windy day, gusting to 40mph. If you get caught out the site owners help out as much as possible. Other campers also lend a hand and there's a community spirit. Before we went we'd been told of the cliff top winds so I was a tad concerned, however it's all about being prepared. Take some proper pegs (not just the weedy cheap ones some tents come with), and pitch your tent good and proper. You should be fine. We have a HUGE Hartford XXL which acts like a sail and survived with no problems. (N.B. Decent pegs are sold in the shop). Bear in mind the cliff top site means beautiful views, wonderful sunsets, starry nights and ocean noise lulling you to sleep.
We had a wonderful time and would definitely recommend the site and look forward to returning.

Good site, loads of animals for the kids to see especially the 2 mad pigs Bangers and Mash (all the animals live on the site until they die of old age).
Good kids play area to keep the kids entertained and a grassed area for football.
Toilets and showers always kept clean but not enough at peak times.
Beach (all stones) at bottom of site. Shop on site open most hours of the day which was well stocked for essentials bread milk etc and not over priced. No pub on site which made for a quiet site at night.
Nearest supermarket about 10mins drive in Freshwater which is where the nearest pub was.
Owners very helpful if needed advice on camping accessories as my previous tent pegs were bending as ground too hard from lack of rain so recommended a great alternative peg to use.
All attractions apart from the beach you would need to have transport for but that makes the site quiet.

Stayed here for a week and enjoyed it. Friendly staff on site, excellent little shop.
Pitch - you can choose your own ,which is good.It can get very windy though ,but lovely cliff top views.
Toilets/showers - were plenty, one block was very modern with music playing and lovely inside.(ladies).A bit of a walk though from the top field where we pitched.
Playground was old and outdated ( broken rope swings, old painted metal stuff and an old boat to jump off) but the kids seemed to love it.
Location is great for a stroll to a gorgeous quiet beach and walks around the area.
I would go back here again .

We visited this site at the end of July and it was excellent.
On arrival we were met by a cheery ? owner (sorry forgot your name) who gave us a 'virtual' tour of the facilities using an aerial photo.
The shop is well stocked for basic provisions and tent spares.
We found the toilet/showers pretty much spotless no matter what time of the day or night we visited them and never had to wait more than a few minutes for one (and it was very busy).
Every field has at least 1 water tap that is safe to drink from. The overflow field also has a couple of chemical toilets to save you the walk back to the main block in the middle of the night.
On several nights there we had quite strong wind and heavy rain and when we saw the owner in the morning he was checking everybody was ok and asking if they needed anything or help.
Even though we have no children the play park seems well used there were kids of all ages playing there from dawn to dusk. And the pizza van turning up solved a dinner choice (cannot remember which nights it was there).
The animals are a nice bonus.
There is a short walk through the site down to the beach which seemed very popular with bodyboarders.
5 minutes drive away is the Wight Mouse inn which I would highly recommend for lunch or dinner.
In summary:
PROS.
Great location
Friendly and helpful staff
Clean (and hot) showers
Clean toilets.
CONS.
Umm cannot actually think of anything.

We stayed 12 days at this excellent site in spite of 2 force 10 gales. The site is well organised with friendly efficient staff. Pitches are generous.
Toilet block modern and clean ( even a bath!. Camp shop well stocked and daily fresh baked bread! Pizza van calls 2/week.
Coastal path passes close to the site.
Excellent services in neighbouring village of Brighstone served by hourly bus. Good village shop open 7 days, satisfactory 3 Bishops pub and excellent cafe/bar '7'.
Just note that the site is exposed to the wind.

We chose this site for out first family camping holiday with our 2 children aged 1 and 3.
We wanted a child friendly site in a beautiful location. The campsite was a major reason why we chose to holiday on the Isle of Wight.
The facilities are perfect, just what we needed, no particular luxury but as campers of the old school (rough and ready) the site was way above our usual expectations. The bathrooms were cleaned at least twice a day. At the weekend it got rather busy and a huge group invaded our field; the site owner told us that they had been 'bitten on the arse' by this as the group had arrived separately and then grouped together on the field. This concerned us as when we returned from a day out we found our field had turned into a car park. Thankfully the site owners got on the case and the cars were moved, and throughout the evening well into the early hours he was patrolling to make sure this group weren't disturbing the other campers. This was reassuring.
The playground was fun and the kids loved it, and the farm animals were an even greater attraction, especially the Turkeys and curly haired pigs, who charmed our children, and many other kids on the site. As one camper remarked to us, everything a child needed for entertainment was there on the site, especially with the beach just a few yards away.
The location is amazing, the views are great and from the campsite there are many walks, down the beach, the coastal path, and inland to the downs.
The island itself is a treat, a step back in time, with many beautifully preserved villages, top quality food and a lack of excessive modernisation. The air is pure and nature is ascendant, the roads are lined with biodiverse hedgerows. There are many attractions on the island, all easy to get to, and aside from the tourist traps there are some real treasures to find by exploring the island off the A roads.
We had a really wonderful holiday, the island is stunning and the campsite was all we expected and more! The amount of happy faces around the site confirmed this.
Highly recommended for families who appreciate nature and good fun!

This is a great litte site in a fantastic location, although in time it may end up in the sea due to costal erosion. The site has a little shop but you have to travel a few miles for a bigger shop.
The kids get a nice play area and it is a nice walk down to the beach but a bit of a slog back up the hill.
The owners where very friendly and nothing was a problem, the toilets where clean but a bit dated.
All in all a nice family friendly site

This is a fantastic site-amazing location with the cliff and the beach and the best playground the children have ever seen on a campsite. Facilities - 2 showers in one block, 5 more Gents & 5 more ladies in another block right next to it, a bath and a family shower. Hot running water and good shop. Animal farm was a nice touch.
Great site and the owner was very friendly and tried to get us to come back when weather was forecast to improve

We visited Grange Farm for three nights and had a lovely time. When we arrived we found that our booking had been made for the wrong week, but without batting an eyelid we were shown where we could pitch and went off to set up camp and there was plenty of space. Grange Farm is a lovely site, with fantastic views of the sea - you can get down to the stone beach in around 5 minutes. The site is windy. That said, when we were there we had gusts of up to 42mph and the camp shop and the site owners did a great job of making sure that everyone was okay. We were given gaffer tape to shore up a split tent pole (the tent was already up and it was too windy to take it down), another family were being shown spare poles to use in their tent and when my uncle and his family visited, they returned from a day out to find that the camp site owners had secured their tent to prevent damage or blowing away!
The camp site shop is excellent and stocks the basics and more. Fresh bread is available every morning and there are the usual dairy products as well as chicken and meat to cook, canned goods, hair products and toiletries as well as camping necessities such as guide ropes, pegs, spare poles (as mentioned above), ice blocks a plenty and toys for children of all ages (the wind does make for some pretty spectacular kite flying). I also saw a wide array of mobile phones chargers being used. There are lots of leaflets around with ideas for things to see and do and the weather report is posted each day in the shop foyer. Although the shop advertises as closing at 5, it was open until 7 when we were there.
The fresh pizza van comes on a Friday (and it seemed to be coming on the Sunday that we were leaving) and has excellent pizzas. There is also an Indian restaurant that delivers to the site, though we didn't order so I can't vouch for this).
The site's cleaning facilities were basic but fine. There are chemical toilets in the furthest fields for those not wanting to walk back to the shower block and plenty of showers and toilets in the block itself. These were mostly clean, with one notable exception, but this was rectified fairly quickly.
The Isle of Wight is only 26 miles across so everything is within half an hour's drive.

This is a really nice site - very simple but with all the mod cons required for a great holiday by the sea.
The site owners were lovely - extremely helpful on arrival by advising us on where best to pitch due to the high winds expected (and pointing out that the weather forecast would make for an interesting week).
The shop was well stocked with fresh bread and all other essentials - they even had an in depth weather forecast printed each day on the noticeboard.
The camp has a great, family orientated, friendly feel to it - our two boys had great fun making new friends and playing in the park.
The toilet block, showers and washing up facilities were always clean with hot water available throughout the day.
The island itself is extremely beautiful - with all attractions no more than a 30min drive away. Black Gang Chine was a great family day out.
The local pub is a short walk away across the fields and serves great food.
Oh, and a pizza van comes to the site on a Monday evening - making fresh pizzas to order - which tasted great and were good value for money.
All in all, a great little site on a superb island. A great camping experience (despite the weather!) - we would recommend it and hope to visit again soon.
