Just back from a Bank Holiday Weekend at this large Camping in the Forest site. It's a remote area, but the nearby village of Bransgove has a couple of good pubs and a few shops if you need them. It's a 15 minute cycle away. The site does have a well stocked shop and takeaway too.
We had to queue on Saturday morning to get in and choose our pitch. The gate staff were great, friendly and helpful. They needed to put a positive spin on what was by this time utter chaos! The place was heaving, really not relaxing in any way! The toilets, showers and washing up areas were in constant use and queuing was the only option to use them.
At any other time I'm sure this site would have a very different vibe, but the atmosphere was just not what I have ever experienced before on my hundreds of camping trips. There didn't seem to be anything laid back about the entire site! It seemed that London had emptied into the New Forest and bought with it the hustle and bustle! I won't be going again.

First impression of the campsite wasn't great. As you drive you up to the campsite you see a large field full of the same tents so thought the campsite was going to be extremely busy and noisy. Once on the campsite the staff member who checked us in was friendly and told us to drive around and look before camping. I was really disappointed on the drive round because most of the space is taken up by caravans parked all over the place. There are weird hardstanding areas for caravans everywhere so it looks like they're parked on the car parks. I think you can store caravans and stay long term so this made the place look quite run down (we had a caravan next to us that had a broken awning and the curtains were all broken) and not at all like the previous New Forest Campsite that I had stayed in near Lyndhurst. Had I not already paid for my pitch I would've left and tried to book at the place in Lyndhurst.
However, we did manage to find a beautiful spot, in the field furthest away, amongst some trees. The ground is VERY rocky so make sure you take some rock pegs, although they do stock them in the shop.
Once we had put up the tent and got used to the caravan car park, it got better. The shop is pretty good and reasonably priced. It also sells take away food and things for breakfast. There is a park plus 3 shower blocks so they never get full, although they could be cleaned more often.
Although it was pretty busy the site wasn't noisy, just watch out for children with no road sense on their bikes as parents let them cycle where they want with complete disregard to cars driving along the roads.

We stayed here for 5 nights and found it a good base for access to the New Forest. There is lots to do in the area - both in the woodland and by the coast. We particularly enjoyed the open top bus tour, which stopped just outside the site (half a mile walk).
The site is huge. Too big for my liking. If you don't mind a big site it is ok. Average/ as expected facilities which I never found crowded, even at peak times in the peak season. Toilet blocks were often closed for cleaning when I wanted to use them but this seemed necessary as some people had no regard for keeping the facilities clean and tidy. The staff must have worked hard to keep them as clean as they did.
I found it strange with people pitching on the concrete roads but got used to it! We had no hook up the first night and were able to find a pitch we liked in a quiet-ish area but not too far from the toilets. Nice little piece of woods for the kids to play in there too. Was much harder to find a pitch when we moved to hook up (hook up was fully booked for the first night of our stay). People can pitch where they like and it was virtually impossible to find anywhere with hook up where we could fit on without being too close or blocking vehicle access for others. A very helpful ranger, who had been our neighbour at our first pitch, tried to help us find somewhere quiet/nice with hook up but it was a struggle. So we were allowed to use the rally field as no group was booked on until the day after we left. This was fine with plenty of space for our children to play. Had we had to squeeze onto a different area it wouldn't have been enjoyable - just too cramped. I think the site needs more organisation and set pitches. They seemed to have no clue who was where! I was worried it would be very noisy at night but actually it was fine. There was a park area which my children, aged 6 and 2 enjoyed. It never seemed too busy there.
I wouldn't stay here again due to the size of the site and lack of organisation but would return to the area as there is so much to do.

This is a really well situated site for the New Forest.
Wardens were friendly, facilities clean, shop well stocked and a friendly take away service.
The site is best suited to tents or caravans rather than moterhomes or camper vans, this is due to the pitching arrangements which are unmarked and not reservable, this means if you go out in the van your pitch may be taken forcing you to re-site on your return. The positive side to the unmarked pitch system is that you have a great choice and can be close to friends if you choose, or move at anytime if you wish.
Overall a nice friendly site.

We have stayed at this site for many years now camping with friends at the end of the season.
The site is well situated surrounded bu nature and peace and quiet.
The facilities on the site, showers and toilets, are always kept to a very high standard. The tent pitch areas are kept in very good order and level. The electric hook up is reliable and not expensive.
The site is located well for days out to the beach or places to visit.
The staff are very helpful and very friendly.

What a great site in the New Forest with electric. Even though it was high season and there were a lot of people there, we never felt overcrowded. It's a clean site with helpful staff and plenty of space for kids to play safely. Clean warm showers, a good shop and a take away open in the evenings. Close to Lyndhurst and Christchurch for supplies and the coast for the beaches.
We couldn't fault it at all and will definitely be staying there again.

Returned for our fifth visit to this excellent site. Large open spaces allowed our four groups to pitch close together and enjoy a long weekend. Great walks to Burley and to the pub topped off a holiday enjoyed by all. The facilities were well maintained and routinely cleaned. Already planning our return for summer 2016

Stopped for one night and to be honest that was one night too many, basically it's an old airfield, no set pitches just have to drive around in circles trying to find a gap to fit in, lots of big groups camping (well drinking) together, caravans parked on all the roads camping rather than on any of the grass pitches. Very noisy and no attempts by anyone to ask people to keep the noise down, we had a group opposite us who were parting quite loudly till about 2am and were not asked to quieten down at all. Went to have a shower in the morning to be told the whole block near us was closed for cleaning it stayed as such for 45 mins, given this was at 9. 30am seemed a bit stupid really to close a block in morning rush hour for the shower blocks! To be honest couldn't wait to leave in the morning and leave the rest to enjoy the live Jeremy Kyle show that is Helmsley!

This is an excellent site, that we look forward to visiting again in the future. Very well looked after by friendly staff. Showers and toilets spotlessly clean, and plenty of them, so no queuing. Lovely barista coffee shop and restaurant/takeway/breakfasts on week ends - coffee etc available on week days. Excellent, well stocked shop. Surrounding forest area brilliant for walks and cycling. Local villages offer good pub lunches, shopping etc. Will be going back!

We found this site online as I was looking to book 2 EHU caravan pitches, one for us, one for our friends. When I phoned, they told me that the didn't have any EHU pitches available unless we booked Super size Premium pitches. So that's what we did, paying extra for our premium pitch.
When we arrived mid afternoon we were met at the gate by staff who wanted to see our booking before we were allowed in, apparently there were a lot of travellers locally they didn't want coming in. We thought this security was great, no complaints from us!
When we checked in though, we were told to choose a pitch where ever we liked. When I pointed out we had booked and paid for a supersize premium pitch we were told that it had been very hectic and we just needed to take what we could find.
There didn't seem to be any organisation as to where people pitched, which was odd because some people had been charged extra for premium pitches. We ended up being shown to a pitch which we felt was tacked on the end of a row, that wasn't really a pitch at all even though we'd booked a premium one. I spoke to reception about it but the lady just shrugged her shoulders and suggested I contact the booking centre which I did, but as yet (4 weeks later) I've not had a reply.
Anyway, the site was nice, showers/toilets were clean, warm and there were plenty of them. Location was great, we loved the walks that could be done round the New Forest, we stopped for a cream tea at Holmsley Station Tea Room which was great!
We would like to return, but probably wont due to the chaotic checking in, the fact our premium pitch wasn't really a pitch and the fact they have not bothered to reply to my various emails about it.
