 Reasons to camp here:

* The location is second to none. You are a few minutes walk from Durdledoor and the beach, with Lulworth cove a half hour walk away. Absolutely could not ask for more.

* The facilities are good with the caveat below. Shop is very good and fairly priced. The pub does good beer and restaurant serves decent enough food.

* Price per night was reasonable.

Reasons to not camp here:

* The public footpath to Durdledoor runs straight through the camping area. Prepare for coach loads of noisy tourists trapsing within feet of your tent at frequent and irregular intervals.

* These tourists will also stop off to use the ablution facilities meaning the frequently have to be closed entirely for additional cleaning. Not fun if you have been drinking a few beers and need to go.

* The wooded area is infested with crows which means constant squabbling and screaching, starting from about 6am, and everything gets covered in crow poo.

Frankly, a superb camp site let down by the fact that a public thoroughfare runs right through it.

We spent one night here while touring the area.

€25 for a two man tent with myself and girlfriend seemed extortionate but it was getting late and we needed somewhere to stay!

This is not really a tenters site. The two camping areas are small. One in a tiny strip of trees and one on a small grass area with static caravans on four sides. We chose the latter as the tree area was full of rooks and we didn't fancy their noise. The field sloped about 10 degrees and was exposed to the wind blowing down of the neibouring hills.

We opted to eat in the club house as the shop only stocked basic lines. First impression was good, nice clean bar, tastefully decorated with good range of drinks. Large menu. We ordered two lasagna with salad and garlic bread at 8. 95 each. They arrived five mins later straight from the microwave. Salad was just a handful of leaves with some balsamic, garlic bread- two slices of the cheap frozen stuff they serve in kebab shops. Lasagna was a four inch square, with no bechamel, just cheep 50/50 mozzarella/cheddar mix scattered over. Microwaved to death, tasteless and dry.

Facilities were adequate with hot showers but seemed an afterthought in terms of position.

We went to bed at ten pm and from ten thirty till around one were treated to the sound of a war zone when the mid tank range opened up for some night time firing practice. This lasted about three hours.

The location right above durdle door is fantastic but this campsite was just not for us. We relocated to a great place near corfe castle but I'm keeping that one a secret in case it gets too busy!

Stayed here for three nights and enjoyed ourselves. Thought the site was clean, although the shower/toilet block was muddy first thing in the morning even though mop was left for users to clean up after themselves! The shop was well stocked and reception staff very helpful. Our grass pitch was described as a flat pitch, however although some of the pitches were flat, ours wasn't which was disappointing. The pitch itself was very big with hedges on three sides, plenty of space for the caravan, awning and car. Although it was very busy, it was quiet at night. There is a good play area for children. Good dog walking area with lovely views of the sea and stars at night (take a torch!). Like other reviewers, groups of foreign children walking through wasn't a welcome sight (there is a hostel nearby). Although wifi is available, it was a bit 'hit and miss' and no mobile phone reception unless you walked up the hill. However, the scenery is superb, very beautiful. A must is the walk to Lulworth Cove, dogs are welcome in the local pub and shops. Would recommend this site.

Just returned from a short trip to the coast having stayed one night at this site. The main purpose of my post is to ensure readers that I found the facilities fine. A recent reviewer said they were in need of updating, well, the public facilities looked all OK to us. The toilet/shower block certainly comes up to scratch. It isn't brand new but has clearly been fairly recently built or refurbished. Nice, clean, modern and well heated block, plenty of hot water too. What more could you want?

We didn't use the cafe but it seems pretty good. The shop is well stocked.

Thought I should say something as that less than complementary review almost made us choose another campsite.

Mind you, not the cheapest available.

Been a few times over years and each time the site is getting busier. Now there's log cabins in filling spare spaces. The facilities seem the same and could do with a complete overhaul, still good but now looking tired compared to other priced sites. Lulworth estate have set themselves up as a premium campsite, sadly they need to do some updating. The location is stunning but the constant trail of summer language school students through the site isn't particularly tranquil. The location makes it worth a visit but it is pricey and needs attention. Interestingly it's amazing how many smokers leave smouldering bUtt ends outside the toilet block which is in the middle of the central wooded glade, it only takes one lighted end to set the trees and dry undergrowth alight.

What an idyllic place to camp. Myself and my 10 year old son camped here with friends over a weekend. Glorious weather which always helps.

Reception staff were really friendly and helpful. Pitch was huge for our 3 man tent and surrounded by a little fence on 3 sides. Most of the camping is under trees which is ideal for shade in the hot weather. Good sized toilet/shower/washing up block. Hot free showers. Shop for the necessities and a bar/restaurant (which we didn't use so can't comment on).

Location was perfect. Ten minute walk to the beaches - breathtaking. 15/20 minute walk to Lulworth cove - gorgeous. We also walked west on the coastal path which was stunning but very up and down steep paths.

I have 3 moans to make, none of which I hasten to add are a fault of the owners

1) Crows/rooks dawn chorus is a squawking affair. I love nature and listening to birds but these birds nesting in the trees above the tents were not pleasant to listen to.

2) Due to the very hot weather the ground was rock hard so bent a lot of tent pegs.

3) The most annoying thing was other campers leaving the toilet/ shower facilities in such a mess. Its not difficult to tidy up after yourself. I'm sure they don't treat their homes like this. The facilities were cleaned thoroughly once a day at lunch time after which were spotless.

Moans over. In all a fantastic place to camp though a little pricey. Great for being close to the beaches and the breathtaking coastline. Definitely visit again.

This is a big site. We visited just before the schools broke up and there were still lots of foreign children around. We chose a premier pitch. It was a bit utilitarian but had to be for a site this size. There is a shop on site and bar with restaurant. We used them both. Food at the bar was good value and tasty. Everyone was very friendly. We walked to Lulworth Cove. Beautiful/ stunning scenery. We could have been in the MED. Good location for this lovely coastline.

First visit to the campsite, reception staff very friendly and helpful. We had a premium pitch which had excellent space even with an awning and two cars. Family joined us for five days at no extra cost and the grandchildren thoroughly enjoyed the well maintained play area which had plenty to keep them amused. Shower and toilet blocks were very clean as was the whole site. The walks and views were amazing, Lulworth cove is worth the walk and surrounding areas had plenty to offer with nice friendly pubs. Plenty of attractions in Weymouth and the tank museum is well worth a visit. Would recommend this site and will certainly be returning.

A very happy and relaxed Ron & Jane Bosworth.

The location is excellent - though it's a bit of climb down to and up from Durdle Door, that's just nature. The playground on the site is fantastic - have rarely seen better. Unfortunately, we found the site overall a bit of a let down. While there's water on the pitch, it's too low to the ground to properly fill a 40l Aquaroll; the other water taps have no fittings and spray like mad so you have to hold 40kg of water up to the tap. There's waste disposal, but it's right at the edge of the pitch; the pitches are separated by plastic fencing which isn't finished properly so it tears at your clothes while your connecting services etc. They enforce a sticker system on both car and caravan - cheap stickers that leave lots of glue and torn paper behind, so expect to spend half an hour cleaning it off after your trip. Worst of all was the food from the Blue Crab - think half the quality of McDonalds for three times the price. The road to the Durdle Door car park runs along the side of the park, and if you get a pitch there expect to hear traffic passing back and forth from seven in the morning til nine in the evening.

Wouldn't go back - there are plenty of better sites nearby and Durdle Door itself is really only a day trip.

Once again we had a fantastic time! Weather was a little bit cold but the hospitality was really warm. All the facilities were spotlessly clean and the renovations from Harry's Bar to the Blue Crab have been well done. Can't beat a bowl of crispy fries and a pint on a cold misty afternoon. We love this place so much we have booked for June and again with the grandchildren in August. Thank you - keep up the good work.
