We decided to make this our first stopping off point for a trip to the south coast. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon and were offered a pitch under the trees or on the main camping field-chose the field. It was £36 a night including the dog charge.
Thought that was a bit steep at the time, but was imagining that as it seemed the biggest site in the area it was to cover entertainment and pools and stuff. But no. That doesn't exist. It was apparently the first busy night of the year and there was just us and our kids and a couple of other couple of couples in the bar.
If you are taking a dog make sure it`s got some good flea and tick stuff freshly applied as they were a real problem. The spot on just wasn`t strong enough. Also tick information posters might be useful (in the loos / showers or somewhere)
The beach is a real trek down the cliff steps, and a million times worse coming back up after a wonderful hot sunny day of swimming and sunbathing. Wouldn't advise trying to take a buggy down.
We went into Lulworth cove on the Sunday night And everything was closed by about 9:30.

I had wanted to visit this neck of the woods for a long time and was not disappointed with the location - absolutely stunning! However, it did not justify the inflated price (£32 + £3 each for 2 dogs) for a pitch where we had to use (several) breeze blocks for levelling (already in place on the site as everyone on the 'sea-view' pitches needed them). To be fair, we were warned in reception that these pitches were sloping and that we could change if we wished, but the whole point was to experience and enjoy Durdle Door. Had we realised that the pitches were adjacent to a public car park we would have parked up for the day and found somewhere else to stay the night. This stopover came at the end of a 6 week UK tour and was by far the most expensive site we stayed on. Sorry to say we felt it was a total rip-off.

Found this site very nice indeed, clean toilets and showers, great walks in both directions on the coastal path.
The weather let us down in big way and this being a bank holiday the cost was around £38 a night, that was just the pitch, which means we will not be returning too soon.
The shop was ok and the bar served good food, however was a bit pricey.
so if you don't go on a bank holiday and its not raining, take a bbq and I'm sure you will love it.

Visited late October 2011, and at £15 which includes electric and free showers - found this to be the cheapest site I've ever stayed at.
I cannot understand the grumbles about price.
The facilities were spotless, decent bar/ restaurant, and the food looked decent. Friendly staff too.
Durdle door & man o war just a short, but steep, walk away. I urge you to get down there and watch the sun rise- I had the beach all to myself.
I'm relatively new to motorhoming but this without doubt has been the best site I've visited.

I have just returned from two days at this site and found it to be excellent. Nothing is perfect of course and perhaps my only gripe is that the grass pitches could be a little better maintained.
As a previous reviewer has stated, the pitches are fine for wheeled units but a little lumpy for tents. I have seen a lot worse this year though and I was on a premium pitch with water, electric, and drainage which would normally be used for motorhomes or caravans.
I thought £15 a night was a little hefty for the time of year but that did include electric and one can't put a price on the location.
At this time of year the site was very quiet and I had a choice of pitches within the allocated area. I had a choice of pitches underneath trees (not a good idea in Autumn especially with a large flock of crows present) or in a clearing separated by a hedge from the road to Durdle Door car park. I chose the clearing, and the road wasn't too noisy.
This is a strange site indeed. It seems to be set out mainly for statics with separate, smaller areas for tourers and camping. There is a choice of more sheltered pitches within the main site or, for the hardy, a cliff top area. This area has beautiful views of the sea and coast but be warned, it can be very windy much of the time.
The cliff top area has no security and is easily accessible by anyone. Although there are barriers to stop unauthorised vehicles driving through the main area, there is a public footpath running right through the middle.
This footpath passes the main facilities block so there is nothing to stop the general public from using the site's facilities as they do the cafe/bar and shop. It is a little like camping within a public park. In this respect it may well be wise to take particular care of easily removable camping items and valuables and keep things out of sight. Not everyone passing through will be honest campers! I did see a couple of security officers around but I don't know if they are present 24 hours a day.
I didn't explore the entire site but certainly the facilities where I was were excellent, almost hotel quality, and kept immaculately clean. Likewise, the bar was modern and bright and although I didn't eat there the prices looked reasonable and the food seemed plentiful. The licensed shop was well stocked with most things one tends to forget to take.
The area is very beautiful but the cliff top walks down to Durdle Door or Lulworth Cove (about a mile away) require a stout pair of shoes, a good pair of lungs, and a strong heart. I seemed to survive on this occasion but it was tough going in places.
All in all a very nice campsite in an excellent location but I don't think I would want to be there during the height of the season as it would probably be packed.

We stayed in a tent in the 'standard camping' field area. Quite a nice pitch, although quite sloped.
As other reviewers have said, you are paying for the location, which is fantastic with a short (but very steep!) walk to the Durdle Door and Man o War beaches, and over the cliff tops to Lulworth.
We stayed in August, and for our first night the camping area was relativley quite, but not surprisingly it was jam packed over the bank holiday weekend. As there are no pitch allocations in the standard camping area you need to get there early in busy times to get a decent pitch, especially if you are camping with friends.
Other groups of campers were quite noisy, but not surprising for such a busy time.
The toilet and shower facilities were not of the standard I would expect for the cost of the pitch. The newer block in the wooded camping area has individual shower cubicles, and 2 free hairdryers (one of which was broken). As this was the newer block it got quite busy, and therefore was not quite so clean.
The older shower block as curtained off showers, and you need to do some research to see which ones give more than a dribble of water - some are fine! Although usually not my choice these older style showers were cleaner and as the windows were open generally fresher than the newer block.
The bar was reasonable, and food generous portions.
The kids loved the two play areas and the site staff were helpful and welcoming.
If you are camping with a cool box only don't rely on the Costcutters at the campsite for your meals, as they have dedicated half the shop to sweets and toys and sell very little meat as the basis of your meal.
Overall my impression was that they aren't really 'tent' friendly, and focus more on the Tourers and Static vans on site.
Having said all of that, you can't beat the location, and if you avoid the Bank holidays it would be a relaxing camp!

Well what can I say? this site is great!
It's a holiday site with a bar/restaurant with good food and beer. Its a lovely setting with tall trees and creeky crows. They do make a sound but with all that walking up and down to the lovely beaches close by I am sure that the sounds won't wake you up at night!
The toilets are clean and very well maintained. The site is pretty and welcoming. It does have a shop that stocks good stuff. We will certainly be returning.

Been to durdle door again this year, had a fantastic time again, absolutely brilliant for the kids, the grassed area in the centre covered with trees acts like a magnet for them, and they will be playing there in no time while you set your tent up.
Good facilities, showers regularly cleaned and never had to wait for a shower regardless of how busy the site gets, the big advantage is obviously durdle door beach over the hill, which is superb, probably why the site is more expensive than most, but if you don't mind paying a bit extra it's worth it.
Has regularly stocked shop on site for essentials, but if it's meat for the BBQ you're after better off going into lulworth where there is a spar shop 5 mins down the road, apart from this, excellent!

Fantastic views from in front of the site of Durdle Door. Quite a steep walk down to the beach via steps but well worth it.
The Man O War beach is gorgeous for swimming, both beaches being shingle and not sand. A lovely walk into Lulworth over the top and then we cheated and walked around the bottom of the hill on the way back!
The site was good, we had a premium pitch with water, drainage and electricity.
Could tell when the schools broke up for summer and to be honest was glad that we were leaving the next day as the site was getting very busy.

We had a lovely sunny Easter at Durdle Door Site. We had a Premium pitch with water/drainage/Electric. (All that was left)
The site was clean, toilet/showers clean plenty of them, only waited once for 5 mins for shower. Washing up facilities under cover, Freezer for ice blocks.
Shop good cafe good also take away available.
Fab Location to Lulworth cove, Man-o-war Bay & Durdle door beach (beautiful views). Great walks (steep)
Will be returning had a lovely restful time.
