We have just got back from a weekend camping here. The site (we had a premium pitch) was excellent, beautiful, peaceful and tidy! This camping area felt very safe for our young children to play outside. The toilet block was a little dated, but clean, piping hot water which we felt was OK. There are only four showers in the mens and I could imagine this may be an issue in busy times. The dishwasing area is good with plenty of space and sinks, but only one plug so take a bowl or plug! The on site shop was excellent offering camping gear and good range of food including cold beers! There was a bar/cafe which we did not use. The childrens play area was very good. This area is beautiful and you can walk to Durdle Door from the campsite. All in all we would definitely go back and we only live in Poole!`

The setting on the edge of Durdle Door is second to none and access to the country walks is excellent. Whilst the site is clean, well maintained with good hook up facilities and a decently stocked shop, the touring pitches are prone to waterlogging which we found after a downpour. The toilet, shower and wash up facilities are dated and there aren't enough off them. Having to queue for well over an hour to use the showers and then find that due to the shear volume of use they are in a right state is not a good recommendation. The pub on site finally has quiet time at 11.30pm and the music reverberates throughout the touring hook-ups. So to sum up; Great location, excellent access to the coast but for a premier campsite it fails on it's facilities.

I was disappointed with this site beacause it is really a huge mobile home park with a tiny area for camping. There are two camping spots, reading the reviews here everyone seemed to have camped under the trees in the wooded area which I would never do as camping under a tree is a pretty poor idea. However, when I tried to find the other open field area I could see why people chose the trees. I drove right past the camping field twice without spotting it as it was a small area totally surrounded by moble homes. So I went for the trees and parked right at the furthest end which was all right.
What really disappointed me about this site was that it had no views at all. Bearing in mind that it is right on the top of the cliffs and if you walk 100 yards there are great veiws, but from the camping areas you can see nothing. There is, however, a spot for touring caravans which overlooks the cliffs. Also it was so windy that it was impossible to cook outside the tent or sit outside without being blown around, so you had the disadvantages of being on the cliff top without the compensation of the view. Admittedly it was a dreadful summer.
Now after all these negatives, some positives. I thought the facilities were excellent. The newish toilet block was exceptional, lots of lavatories, cleaned regularly, toilet paper, loads of hot water, free showers and everything nice and clean. There were lots of water taps, bins, barbecue areas if you needed them. I paid £16 per night mid week, so I would expect good facilities for that.
There was a well stocked shop and a rather charactless and overpriced bar, but at least you had access to everyhting you needed without leaving the site.
From the site there are excellent walks on the South West Coastal Path and access to the sea at Durdle Door. Lulworth Cove is a short walk away with pubs, restaurants etc.
There is a large area for posh campers who want electric hook ups and fully serviced pitches etc. Basically this is a site for more upmarket camping. Personally I prefer something a bit more basic and uncrowded, but you cannot fault the facilities.

What cant we say about this site the views are absolutely stunning. The pitches with the sea views are sloping but well worth the extra time setting the van up .(if you want it level) even though the weather one night was horrendous it was a little scary in high wind but has not put us off we will definitely visit again . Absolutely loved it.

We have just returned from a camping holiday at Durdle Door. The pitches are good sizes on the premium site and the camp site is ideally placed for some beautiful views and for visiting places of interest in Dorset
In our party was a family of four plus Nan who is disabled. From reading the brochure we felt that on face value there would be adequate disabled facilities. Ladies Facilities - Reality was that yes there was a toilet/shower room for the disabled but the doors in to the building could not be accessed without assisted help. 1) they were too narrow and 2) to open the door my mother had to use her feet while I pushed the wheelchair forward. The wheelchair just got through the door and the model we have is slightly narrower than the average wheel chair.
To access this toilet / shower room a universal toilet key is required something that not all disabled people have but could get if informed before hand. The toilet/shower facilities were not particularly clean and were in need of updating and repair.Often not having toilet paper . The showers themselves had a plentiful supply of hot water but dressing arrangement are such that you can't dress in the shower itself but communally outside. The floor outside was always dirty. The separate wash rooms approximately 10 - 12 had but four plugs between them. (Incidentally the washing up room had only 1 plug amongst 7 sinks!)
It is also important to mention that this campsite is a public thoroughfare. Facilities are used by all who pass by. The public also walk through the centre of the campsite. For security purposes this we found a little intrusive. A premium rate paid per night deserves premium facilities.

Pitching areas Campers have a choice of areas, we camped in main field. Part way down field as bottom gets waterlogged. Best place is around the edge of the main field next to hedge - for protection from wind. Wooded area looked nice but you can expect your tent to be covered in bird droppings from crows and ravens. We were warned and avoided.
The Durdle Door famous arch and beach is just 10 minutes walk from the site and Lulworth cove about a 20 minute walk, but you need to be fit. This is a photographers and wildlife enthusiasts paradise. Our week included Poole harbour and Brownsea island. Dorchester - several museums. Lulworth Cove beach. Durdle Door and Man of War beaches. Corfe castle and village. Studland Bay and heath. Wareham - fish and chips by River Frome a good choice.
Site facilities Shop is excellent - well stocked and prices reasonable. Staff cheerful and helpful. Bar/restaurant was good. Bar food was good and real ale from local brewery excellent. Adventure playground. Management of site. I feel this was a let down. One of the toilets in the upper block remained un-flushed without a chain for the duration of our stay. Lower tiles on the wall were falling off - two fell off when I opened the door. The facilities weren't as clean and modern as previous sites of same grading. Management and security were ineffective as they failed to take any action (despite speaking to front desk) against a group (camp site does not allow groups!) of campers that descended on the site approximately 16. They partied next to our tent until midnight and spoilt the site for families who had enjoyed the week stay. Overall - Excellent location, facilities could do with an upgrade, groups and weekenders need managing.

Just come back from this campsite - May 07 - and overall was impressed. I had been warned about the noise of the crows and the mess they make on the tent, but to be honest it was nowhere near as bad as I'd expected. We camped in the tree area, because the weather was bad, but the field looked equally as good. The campsite is in a fantastic location, just a quarter of a mile walk down to Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove. I'm quite sure the location of this campsite would take some beating! We had our 3 year old daughter and dog with us and the campsite easily catered for both, with indoor (small) soft play area, family friendly bar / restaurant and large outdoor play area with swings / slides / baseball hoop etc. The shop was very well stocked and inexpensive. We enjoyed fresh baked bread every morning, choice of newspapers, fairly priced wine and groceries every day we were there. The restaurant also offered a take out facility which was useful. Nearby Lulworth Cove has good eateries, including a Moules 'shack', fish and chip take away, good pubs, coffee shops and beach shops. Worth walking from the campsite though as like everywhere on the coast you get charged for parking. Lulworth Cove pebble / some sand beach is great for families and half is dog friendly which was great for us. The toilet block/shower block (although slightly dated) was always clean, fully stocked with loo roll/soap and there was loads of hot water in the showers. The washing up facilities were good too, with loads of big sinks and boiling hot water. I always find that static caravans make a site look a bit naff, and to be honest that was the only thing I didn't like about Durdle Door - but then again, you get this everywhere, and I doubt the facilities would have been as good on site had it just been a 'campsite'. Another slight negative is that we found it more expensive than other sites, but then again you are on the beautiful Jurassic Coastline and you pay for everything. Overall would recommend and will return.

Had a good few days stay here - and Yes the Crows or Ravens did give us an early morning call everyday. A lovely site within easy walking distance of coastal path and beach. Was a bit pricey over Easter Weekend, charged us £25 per night, then it dropped down to £15 per night for the remainder of the week, which we thought was plenty as there are not any faciliies as such apart from a small, but well stocked shop and a club or small bar which only had entertainment two night a week, staff were polite though and the toilet facilities were clean and the park is well kept.

Loved the site nice bar and location is 2nd to none I pitched in the wooded area. In my opinion big mistake because it must be the favourite stop over place for every crow in Dorset from morning to dusk the noise and mess. Could have pitched in the field but everyone else had pitched in the sheltered edges leaving just a big open exposed area and a fair trek to toilets. But if crows and their mess (wiping tent down morning and night) don't bother you I would recommend

We spent the first week of September at Durdle Door and had a great time. We had originally booked a pitch at the front with a sea view but the wind howls inland from the Ehglish Channel and whilst caravans were fine we could not open our Dandy Camper in such a strong wind. We were swapped to a pitch on the main site which is very sheltered. The site is nicely laid out with a well stocked shop and good laundry facilities. The shower block is adequate and nowhere is more than a brief walk away from it. By far the best feature is the site's proximity to the beautiful coastline. A matter of a 10 minute walk down the hill and you have the stunning Durdle Door and some fantastic walks. If you want a nice pub then a 20 minute walk into the local village is easily done although there is a clubhouse/bar on site but it didn't;t appeal. I would imagine it could be very noisy at the height of summer. The only noise we encountered were some very loud rooks nesting in the trees at the entrance side of the site. Avoid pitching there if possible. My only other gripe was when a large camper was pitched right next to us even though the site was mostly empty. Apart from that I can thoroughly recommend Durdle Door.
