Had a nice stay on the Seaview pitches overlooking the sea. Views are great but it was a bit of a pain to level the van up with breezeblocks (provided by the site). Still would have preferred to be there than in the other touring/camper pitches; the crows are nesting so was a lot of noise round there!

Toilets were clean first night, a bit messy next morning but cleaner was there about 9:30 am sorting things out.

Shop was reasonably priced and the bar was good price. Shame they don't let dogs in, but can understand why. I didn't notice this on their website, so would be a useful addition.

All in all, nice, rather than great.

Great site. We had a sea view pitch which was wonderful. There is plenty of space between pitches and for the kids to run around.

There is a pay and display car park right in front of the pitches which gets really busy in the day but is deserted at night.

It was a short but steep walk down to the arch rock and man o war beach and about a 20 min walk to Lulworth Cove over the cliffs. If you like walking then this is the place to be.

The shower block was modern, warm and spotless even when the site was packed.

The shop was well stocked and reasonably well priced with fresh baked croissants in the mornings.

We ate once at 'Harry's Bar' and the food was fine but not amazing. It is a good place to have a drink.

The play area was really good for children. My girls loved it.

We all enjoyed our stay here and will return again soon.

Stayed for two nights mid July. The weather was very good. Site was busy. Incredible location. Breathtaking. Pitched tent right on edge of wooded area near to Durdle Door car park.

Easy walk to spotless and new looking shower block. No queues. On site shop was large and well stocked. Prices were very reasonable. Can buy all your needs. All in all great facilities. The two beaches within a steep climb are stunning.

Walk to lulworth cove was wonderful on a warm evening. Great transport links. I arrived by bus which stopped right outside. Took bus to swanage. All in all a brilliant site that I don't think can be bettered.

This is a great location for exploring the best Dorset has to offer. Our pitch was massive, and the site was clean and tidy. There were 2 shower and toilet blocks, one more modern than the other.

Our personal view was that the pitches were a bit expensive, if the modern shower block was full or closed for cleaning the other alternative was dated and not nice at all.

We felt for the money there were some things lacking. You are paying for the location really on this site

The location of this site is definitely its top selling point! The surrounding area is stunning in terms of scenery / views! The walk down to the beach and Lulworth Cove is not for the faint-hearted!

The campsite is spotlessly clean and the toilet / shower block was immaculate, very modern with free showers / hairdryers. The shop on site has all the essentials including a good selection on beers/wine.

We were pitched in Abbeyfield (which is advertised as a level pitch) we had pitch T7 and we needed the assistance of blocks to level up our caravan (which reception did provide), I know several other people in that area also had problems getting their unit level. Not a problem if you are prepared for it!

Visited the on site pub for dinner one night; to be honest I was fairly disappointed with my meal; £8 for a curry that tasted like it was out of a jar is a bit pricey but it was edible and the pub itself is very nice and well maintained.

The pitch fees are a bit pricey but well worth it just to stay in that location.

Just got back from a week at this site, (only our second week away as new to caravanning, so don't have much to compare it with).

The site is owned by a large company who seem to own a lot of Lulworth and the surrounding area.

We stayed on a fully serviced pitch in Abbeyfield and needed to use our ramps to level the van. This field is accessed via a security gate that you need a swipe card for (we had to change ours four times as the barcode never worked, not a big deal although each time when we took it back to reception they were not particularly friendly). Large tents can also pitch in this field and it is more meadow than manicured lawn. Not a problem for us but depends how you like it. The pitch was very generous in size.

The pitches with the sea views looked amazing although they only have ehu, and ours was windy enough even with amazing weather conditions so I can imagine it gets very breezy on the sea view pitches.

The location could not be bettered, a short walk to Durdle Door and its beach, and less than a mile from Lulworth Cove which is exactly why we chose it.

The shop seemed well stocked although we only used it for milk. We used the bar and restaurant and found the food good for the price.

When we first arrived at the site we found one of the facilities blocks closed for refurb and found the other two basic and not what we would expect for the price this site charges. However we use the facilities in the van so not a concern for us. The third block was completed in the middle of our stay and were very good, they had even installed air conditioning! The showers had separate areas for changing and keeping clothes dry and there was no charge for either showers or hairdryers (of which there were 2). I cannot comment on the amount of hot water as we did not use them. My only suggestion would be that they provide cloths, mops etc for people to clean up after themselves.

All in all a good site with an amazing location. We will return.

We have just spent a lovely week here over Easter. It was busy but quiet, and the shop was really handy. We didn't use the showers, but they looked ok. Laundry was a bit pricey at 3.50 a wash and 1.50 for 15 mins of tumble drying though!

We were in abbeyfield on the allocated pitches, and we were really glad as the pitches overlooking the sea were so wind swept that no-one spent long outside. It had really rained when we arrived and the pitches were very wet and we got stuck getting on our pitch, as did everyone - there is a tractor that can help if you ask at the office. They also brought us some breeze blocks as the site is quite sloped. V helpful office staff. The kids playground was good.

The walks down to Lulworth Cove and Durdle Doorwere right on your doorstep but are really really really steep - especially when you have 2 young children who you have to carry back up! Not for the faint hearted, or the unfit.

We visited the tank museum (excellent), monkey world (a bit expensive and not much to see, although playground at the back was good), steam railway at Swanage (nice) and Studland bay (shell beach was the most beautiful, but all lovely)

Overall, pleasantly surprised by our first visit to a 'holiday park', and would visit again

When I booked this site I was asked if I wanted a sea view, I said yes.

What a pitch! It was at the back of the site at the top of the hill, below was a pay and display car park then a drop to the sea. From our pitch we could see Weymouth and Portland and had 180 degrees of sea view. The pitches were long so we could sit in front of the van looking out to sea or watching the car park.

Bad - the toilets were at the start of the pitches and a long walk through the camping section that had no lights. The showers were dark and small with no dry area and one hook in direct range of the water spray. My wife stated the worse we had ever been to and we have been camping the carvaning since 2003. The pitches are very uneven therefore take plenty of blocks, although the site does have a limited supply of breeze blocks.

The site had a good restaurant and bar, well stocked shop and good reception with lots of local information. There was also a good childs play area. I have scored low on the facitlites because the showers were so bad, had they been up to a resonable standard then 10 out of 10.

The site is on a costal path walk and has access at to Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove which are lovely sheltered beaches. To get to Durdle Door beach you need to be fit as it is a steep path to the beach.

Great site. Has a lovely sea view if you can get a space on the cliff top but it is on a slope, breezeblocks provided but couldn't get our fridge to work but who needs a fridge with a view like that. Freezer provided in washing up block.

Plenty of room for the kids to play and lots of car free paths for my son to ride his bike. Playground had great facilities but a bit far away for my kids to access by themselves.

Shop is fairly priced with fresh bread and pastries daily.

Went to pub on last night and had a good meal for about £50 for a family of four including drinks.

Toilets and showers were very nice, floor a little bit dirty but campsite was very busy so perhaps to be expected.

Durdle door is beautiful, my wife and son swam through it and my daughter loved playing on the shingle beach. Waves can be strong enough to knock you over. Lovely walks to nearby coves over a big hill but managed it with a pushchair.

Overall a great site, will return to it again and again.

Spent a week here July 18th - 25th, with two 7 year old twin daughters. Despite pretty appalling weather (wind and rain almost all week, day and night), we had an absolutely great time here. The field was a wonderful location, very peaceful with lovely views of the surrounding hills.

Facilities at this site were first class. Possibly as a result of so many families arriving and then departing within 48 hours (either by design, or due to the awful weather, not sure), the loos / showers etc were never crowded and were pretty much immaculately clean all week. I was taking my girls into the mens showers to wash their hair, and I only saw about 1 or 2 other people in there all week. Plenty of hot water, clean sinks / loos, couldn't have been better.

On a couple of occasions when the field shower blocks were being cleaned or were closed (early mornings), we had to use the blocks by the trees, and these were definitely inferior. The showers were hugely irritating as they had timer switches which only lasted for 17 seconds, so you were continually having to hit the button over and over again. 17 seconds - why??? Also, the shower heads were SOOOO close to the wall that it was quite uncomfortable to get your hair wet, you were continually banging your head against the pipes. Completely daft design, you wouldn't have it in your own house so why don't they fix this? Anyway, a small complaint. These blocks are also much shabbier and less pleasant to use than the field blocks, so perhaps an opportunity for a little upgrade.

Dish washing up facilities were also great, with plenty of sinks and loads of hot water. All in all the facilities were brilliant.

Laundrette was very useful mid week, with all those wet clothes. Wash £3.50, tunble dry (15 mins) £1.50 per go, so again a bit on the pricey side but if it weren't for the crap weather w wouldn't have needed to use it.

Shop was always well stocked and sold pretty much everything you could need, even if some of the prices were surprisingly high. On the other hand, they do sell a kite for 99p which was brilliant, and which my kids flew pretty much every day, so just about the best 99p's entertainment value I have ever come across.

The bar / restaurant were perfectly pleasant, with a good range of beers and food. As with the shop, the food was rather overpriced for what it was but I doubt anyone was eating in there regularly so it served a purpose (i.E. Lunch on day 1).

The little games room next to the bar was a disappointment - my kids love table football, but the table was out of order for the whole week we were there. How hard is it to fix a table football game? Ah well.

So, all in all the site and facilities were fantastic, despite the odd little niggle which are only little niggles.

Walk down to Man o War beach / Durdle door was stunning. Swam in the sea a few mornings, what a great start to the day. Views and scenery just breathtaking. Did the walk across to Lulworth Cove, perfect for little legs. Perfect sea-air walking.

Local attractions - food in the Castle Inn in West Lulworth was a HUGE disappointment. The place seems to trade on location and chocolate box thatched roof looks, but it's simply not up to scratch under the bonnet. For great food you have to go a little further to East Lulworth, to the Weld Arms- simply one of the best places for pub food I have ever come across. Everywhere surprisingly pricey (even from a Londoner's point of view), but they have a captive tourist trade throughout the area so I suppose they can get away with it. It works in the Weld Arms where you get stunning top quality food, but not at the Castle Inn, where the food is decidedly second rate (see tripadvisor comments on these places for other opinions).

Tip - avoid local taxis if possible. We got caught at Lulworth Cove one particularly rainy day and needed to get a taxi to East Lulworth as the kids legs were too tired. £25 quid for a 10 minute drive - verging on criminal, but again we had no choice and the locals know it. Some of the prices can quickly turn a budget camping holiday into a very expensive break away, particularly if poor weather forces you to do a few pub lunches etc.

Things to do locally: the Rex Cinema in Wareham - britain's oldest working cinema (?), a great experience; Wareham sports centre for rainy days - loads to do; canoeing on the river Frome; Corfe Castle steam train; and walking anywhere along the Purbecks.

All in all, despite the weather, a brilliant week, and we will certainly be returning to the Durdle Door campsite. Full marks to them for running a superb place. With good weather, the place must be absolute heaven for the little ones.
