This was our 5th stay at Jacobs Mount, we like the location, it’s just outside Scarborough but not too far away. The pitches are a good size, fresh water and waste disposal at the pitch. We do have bother with the electric tripping at certain times of the day, especially our kettle first thing in the morning - we use a normal household kettle so can't expect anything else! You need to pay for an electricity card but you are only paying for what you use and as the pitch price is very reasonable you can't complain (we used just over £5. 00 in eight days). The toilets and showers are warm and clean but could do with being renovated, having to keep pressing the shower to get water can be quite annoying when trying to get washed and any time I try the hairdryer it never works! The showers are operated by tokens which can be bought from a machine outside reception – tokens cost 40 pence each or three for £1. 00. There is a pub on site (closed on a Wednesday) which serves food in the evening, the meals are excellent, cooked as you order them so there is sometimes a bit of a wait especially when they are busy but it is well worth the wait. There's also bingo and other entertainment at the weekends as well. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Overall we think this is an excellent site and like other sites there is good and bad but this is a site we enjoy returning to each year and hopefully we'll be back next year.

Just returned from a weeks stay at Jacobs Mount. Didn't know what to expect as it was our first visit. Was a little apprehensive as there was some confusion when I rang to request a pitch either next to or near my father in law who had already booked for the same week. Was told that the pitches are allocated upon booking and wouldn't be possible to change our pitch. When we arrived at our pitch we discovered the one next to us was empty and remained so for the whole week. Never mind we were on the next row along anyway so no massive hardship.
The site is well laid out and pitches are plenty big enough. The rules on parking are not stuck to by everyone which is a bit unfair( no parking on grass alongside awning which makes your car too close to the next caravan).
You Have to pay a deposit for a security barrier key fob and a card for electric which is refunded when you leave, any electricity not used is also refunded.
The shower blocks are reasonably clean and warm, the showers are on a token meter which is outside the cubicle and gives you 8 minutes per token (strip off first then dash back in) The water is on a push tap which you constantly have to hold in ( a bit daft considering you have paid for the water and it cuts off at the end of the timer).
The club on site serves food but we had to wait an hour on Saturday evening. The quality is reasonable and price not too bad. Beer prices are a bit steep. The club doesn't open Wednesdays and the entertainment was a little below average on Saturday night. He managed about 3 songs then his equipment packed in and we were all left waiting in silence whilst he tried to fix it.
Be aware around the shower block as it is a kids hang out and becomes a race track for bikes and scooters which are abandoned all over the place despite signs saying no scooters or bikes allowed in the area.
The security barrier is locked down at 11 pm and you are told to park your car near the shower block on the road after this time. What we weren't told was that you cant get out with your car before 8 am.
There are no buses running past or near to the site and it is a pleasant half hour walk into Scarborough (taxi back as it is uphill ) £7 from top of town to site so not too bad.
All in all it is a nice site let down by silly rules, poor showers and bar entertainment. Price wise for the bank holiday week it was fair. Bus service is a let down but ok if you don't mind taxi or taking car. Site is not signposted anywhere in or around Scarborough but sat nav will get you there.
Did we enjoy our holiday? Yes because its what we made it
Would we return ? Probably not, usually stay at Flower of May which is an all round better site even if its further out of town.
Better sites all over Scarborough, shop around and do your homework. It may be for you, but not for us.

We stayed here as we thought it convenient for Scarborough (approx 3 miles away). On ringing, we were told they could 'fit us in', and that dogs were welcome. The pitch fee being £16 per night. Oh good we thought, sounded like an excellent deal.
How wrong we were! We had to pay a further £5 for our 2 dogs, and the electric was charged on a meter. If you want a shower, then that's extra too! We started to wonder if we would be running up a massive bill by the end of our stay.
No wonder there were only 3 other tourers on site; the other pitches were seasonal and deserted apart from one caravan that had 3 vehicles with including a builder's van.
Glad we only stayed the one night, and won't be returning.

Just home from a 5 night stay at Jacobs Mount. This was our first outing in our new (to us) Caravan. We were happy with the site overall and would definitely visit again. The showers could probably do with some updating as they are the push button affair that you find at the swimming baths. You need to pay for them with tokens. 3 tokens will cost you a pound and offer 8 minutes each. I used two but could have used just one really. The electricity is metered and you have to pay for this separately in cash and get given a card. Anything you don't use is refunded at the end of your stay. We were confused at first due to a mix up with which pitch we were to stay on and thought we had used a lot more than we actually had. We ended up using just under £10 and had quite a lot running in the van including the heater and tv. The site is really central to everything and all the staff are really friendly and helpful. The weather was against us but it didn't make a difference. There is an on site pub but we didn't use it as it was closed for the majority of our stay. From what I can gather it opens every night in peak season. The play area was really good for the kids and ours loved it. All in all the whole holiday was a success!

We have visited this site for over 20 years and now we decided to stay on site with our caravan all season, I haven't one complaint about anything. Best site in Scarbourgh, Excellent and very friendly people, nothing is a problem if you have one, the Bar and food is of very high class and site is quiet and every one on site is very friendly, the kids love it, would recommend this site to familys with children where you can just relax and enjoy, the sea front is only 5 minutes away we will be staying next season and beyond, keep it up guys. Fairly new to caravan touring and really liked this site. Excellent site fee, cheap electric that you only pay for what you use. Disposal points at handy areas. Nice staff, £6 taxi ride into Scarborough, very handy for the motorcycle racing at Olivers Mount. Continental type water hook up and drainage. I needed an extension length of drainage pipe and the site shop had drainage pipe for £1. 40 metre, local caravan dealer - £2. 20

Ive been a few times to Jacobs Mount so felt I would give my two penneth worth.
As others have said, pitches are hard standing each with electric and water point. Five showers in the ladies with hooks on doors and plastic garden chair to put things on.
Spacious clean toilets, five or six with cold water, wash basin and soap dispenser. Separate clean wash area with hot and cold water (no soap dispenser) hand dryer, hair dryer 20p a minute ish. Showers £1 for three tokens, eight minutes a piece which you put in outside your shower. (token machine next to reception)
Plenty of time although push button a little annoying. Onsite shop fine for milk, sweets etc. Childrens playground brilliant for the kids and ours loved it. There is a small area for under fives at the Pub which is pleasant. Food in the Pub very nice and good portions. Two adults, two kids and couple of pints around £25 (closed on a Wednesday) We walked into Scarborough and after the initial 400 yards of hair raising fast road was quite pleasant. The Stepney Farm shop 10 minutes away very good for your bbq goodies. All in all a good location for Scarborough and a very enjoyable time was had. We did put £5 on the electric card and three days later had used 4p. We charged our phones and plugged a laptop and lamp in. Reception seemed to think there may have been some left on the pitch. Oh and one other thing, we found all the staff friendly. Dare I say even the seasonal campers happily chatted to us and we never felt like it was them and us ;-)

Stayed at the site this May Half term and I have to write to say how dispoionted I was after reading such good reviews, Where do start when I arrived at the campsite I was asked how much electricity I would like to pay for. When I booked the site over the telephone I asked if the pitch had electric to which the response was yes, not once was it mentioned that it was extra and had to be paid for on electric meter card. Next came the showers again nothing mentioned not even when we booked in that showers had to be paid for. I would suggest that if you are going to charge people for showers that some one should clean them at least once a day, we visited the showers every day during our stay and at different times and not once did they look clean they were just dirty. The showers are poor and you have to hold the button in constant for water. I would also point out that many seasonal pitch holders think they are a cut above the rest. Overall a bad stay of which we won't repeat again having stayed in this area several times I will certainly go back to the previous sites we have stayed at giving Jacobs mount a definite miss.

Just had three nights here. First off, the site is well ordered, with enough hard standing for individual units, with a little grass area if required for sitting out. September rate of £17 including awning is fair enough. Metered electricity cost me £1 per night, a previous review commented on amperage, don't know what it actually is, but at one time, we had fridge, water heater, space heater, TV, microwave and lights all at once, no issues!
The toilets/showers are adequate, but those push buttons! No heat control either?? The token meters are in the wash room area, so when the token is inserted and your time starts, you have to get to your shower, undress, run shower for a time to heat up, then wonder how much time you have left. Eight minutes was actually enough, for me. Can't also figure out why all the toilet cubicles have a sink, cold tap and soap dispensers, when the washroom has sinks, hot and cold taps, but no soap dispenser??
Wi-Fi at £2 a night is OK, but the log in system is awkward and signal strength patchy. One night I didn't have enough signal to be able to pay on line!
All in all, a satisfactory experience, the staff were especially friendly and helpful

We have visited many times and as usual the site is very clean great not having to go and fill the aqua roll up with each pitch having its own tap. The only downside is that it isn't a very high amp for electric and if you have anything else on as well as the kettle it trips, I think now that every pitch is metered and you pay for what electric you use rather than a nightly charge it could do with upping to 16amp. Also, I find that the electric charge works out ok and with what we use is less than £2 per night.
