Family weekend break with 2 adults and 2 children age 10 and 7. A nice quick welcome on to a secure dry, spacious and clean plot. We had to put our awning up on hard standing for the first time. Easy and no mud!
We had our own water supply and our own little area of grass. We had a grassy mound to the back which sheltered us from the breeze and gave us a little suntrap outside the awning.
It was about 5 miles down hill into the centre of Scarborough, but don't plan on riding your bike back up!
We will definitely go back.
It was very close to both bays, the swimming pool, a little petting farm, the sea life centre and pesholme park

Just returned from our first caravan trip and this was a lovely site to start at.
The pitch was nice and wide (we did have one of the largest pitches as ours was a corner pitch, but they were all wide enough for van + awning + car parked beside with space to spare. Pitches are clearly defined with hedges and all have their own water taps and electric supply (although electric is at the other side of the pitch for some reason - they don't know why either - inherited it that way!)
There was a lovely view from our pitch, this did mean that a few people came to see it, but none where intrusive. There was a large mound behind our pitch so that you can see the sea etc.
Access to the site past reception is via a card controlled barrier - same card works for the toilet blocks as well.
There are two play areas but both of these where quite away from our pitch. Children are supposed to be supervised at all times but were not. There was no trouble though and the equipment all appeared to be in good order. My 8 year old really enjoyed it.
Toilets were always clean when we went in there - very large cubicles with own sink.
Showers were spacious as well, a double cubicle really - seat provided in the dry area and two hooks on back of door. Had to keep pressing for the water as it didn't stay on for that long, but it was warm and I didn't have to queue at 9am.
While I was in the shower one of the staff was in the toilet block as someone had reported a mess in there and she was there to sort it out. Heard her talking on the radio saying that all she could find was a bit of loo roll which had been wet and thrown on cubicle door. Seemed to be good service.
We went into the clubhouse on the first night and ate there. Food was reasonably priced and the burgers tasted nice. There was a bingo on the night we were there which was very popular.
Staff were on the whole friendly and one of the barmen is a mechanic (son of the woman in the showers) and helped us out with getting our car started after we flattened the battery.
We walked into Scarborough from the site (it's about 2 miles down hill) and after spending the day there we got a taxi back which cost us £6 (apparently it was cheaper and quicker than the bus).

Just returned from this site after a weekend break, expected this site to be busy with it been so near to Scarborough, although the site was full it was very quiet. Toilet block was ok, stayed for four days my only moan is there was no soap in the dispensers in both mens and womens toilets.
Good size pitches with tap and drain on every pitch. Our kids loved the playground and there was a separate park outside the pub for smaller children.
Food in the pub was excellent I can recommend steak pie chips and a pint of lager super chilled,or fish and chips with mushy peas good food at reasonable prices. There is 3 pool tables and a few games machines in the pub which the kids loved.
Site is perfectly situated only a five minutes drive to Scarborough.Visited peashlom park and went on the pedaloes my 9 month old baby loved the ducks and the boat ride too!
Going back for another weekend break in a couple of weeks time.

I visited this site following the reviews on this site and have returned home completely underwhelmed! In short badly lit showers and toilets, staff generally unavailable especially the cleaner, for the two nights and three days we spent on there we never saw one at all! Also when we arrived there wasn't any explanation of the facilities only a request for a £5 deposit for a key card and instructions that it was best not be out after 11pm as the barrier is closed.

Firstly,it was a last minute choice to visit this site due to bank holiday availability. Good value for site fees, and location. The all weather touring pitches are roomy and hard standing. My grandaughters pointed out how filthy the showers were, the male block was worse and no soap in dispensers! Late noise was a problem for us too, a group of kids 10/13 yr old decided to play around the entry barrier shouting and swearing, they were asked to move, but returned later 9.30pm to throw stones at our van. The manager has also banned the use of anything electrical in awnings, i.E. TV's fridges, extra lights, heaters or fans We still had a fab time in Scarborough, and surrounding area none the less, though we will book in advance in the future.

Just got home from a 5 day break at this site.
We found the staff very friendly. A very clean site.
Playground area for the kids, although we didn't have any with us.
Dog walking area in the woods was small but ample to keep the dog happy after being out all day.
We had a very large pitch. Corner plot with Ample space all around. The other pitches were all a nice size with plenty of room for awnings and cars.
The pub was lovely. Food was good and very good value for money.
Large toilets with their own sinks if you just want a strip wash. Showers with plenty of space so you don't feel cramped.
Close to Scarborough. Filey, Bridlington, Whitby etc.
A lovely site which we will definitely visit again.
Good value for money all round. Highly recommended.

A group of 10 of us (2 tourers & 1 tent) visited the site at the beginning of May for the weekend. We where pitched at the top of the site. The touring pitches where level with water and electric points. However it was a bit windy when trying to put the awnings up being at the top of the site. Our friends in the tent where camping almost adjacent just over a mud mound which was handy.
The site itself was good value with a nice play area for the kids. Toilets and showers reasonable however not the cleanest on the Sunday but that was more to do with the users than the cleaners I suspect. Food and drinks are served on site at fair prices.
The only complaint I would make is the fact I was told that due to having a foreign van they would not normally have accepted me on site. Not sure what difference this makes so long as there is adequate space (>3m) between the vans / awnings etc. After talking this through with the owners they stated I could visit again but without the awning. Apart from that the site was nice and I'm looking forward to visiting again in the autumn.

This will be our 3rd year this year going to Jacobs mount I have always found the staff very friendly & helpful. The shower blocks are very clean. Just a small shop but you can buy newspapers, milk & bread. All the touring pitches are hard standing with water taps so no carrying water. A small children's play area. I have never known the site to be noisy. The food to very good. If you want to be surrounded by woodland and quiet then I would recommend it. The site is only about 2 miles into Scarbrough plus easy access by car to the north york moors

This was our first time camping and we visited this site on the 24/05/09 for 5 nights, the site is aimed mainly at static and touring caravans. There are two pitching areas for tents one in the lower corner for about seven tents and the one were we pitched near the top in-between the touring caravans with enough room for 4-5 tents.
The site is a family run business and they were all very friendly, we visited the onsite pub every night and the meals were good value for example, homemade steak pie chips veg and gravy for £7.00 which is delicious, also the beer was reasonably priced.
In the pub there is also 3 pool tables a few arcade games and on weekend there is some live entertainment.
There is one toilet shower block, which was kept clean, laundry room, family bathroom and pot washing facility. A play area for the kids and a small one for toddlers at the rear of the pub and there is a small onsite shop stocking the basics.
We walked into Scarborough one day and its about 45min walk all down hill, taxi fair back £6.40.
Two small grumble’s, on our return to the site on Monday afternoon we found the we were the only tent left all the other campers had gone home, we thought great except a couple of days lots of kids started to use the area around our tent for ball games and just hanging about, also noticed that all the bins on site were overflowing with rubbish.
We would use this site again but would try the lower camping area next time.

Visited this site 8/5/2009, although most of the pitches had caravans on, the site was very very quiet, we hardly saw many people during the day and the pub was very quiet on the night, so if your looking for a busy park this may not be for you, although it might get busier as it is only May. However if your looking for a quiet retreat this will be heaven.
Not much food variety to choose from off the menu in the on site pub / restaurant but what food we did get off it was good.
Toilet / shower block are adequate although showers poor design mean if some one is showering in block next to you then their mucky water runs through your shower floor as well!
Shop is basic but stocks the things you need, campsite is very clean and kids playpark is ok. Betton farm has a bird of prey centre and the owner was extremely nice in giving us a personal guided tour of the birds, also has the normal farm animals and a play area for kids and tea room is only £3 for adults and £2 for kids, under 2's are free. It's well worth a visit to pass 2 hours of the day and it's only about 2mins from the campsite The campsite is only about 5mins drive from Scarborough itself. Overall this is a very cheap caravan site to stay which is clean and in good situ to Scarborough and I would recommend it for anyone wanting a peaceful break, I will visit here again.
