Having been a seasonal visitor for several years I have to say it's gone from being great to only ok now. Meals at the club are ok, but kids meals are now a bit of a let down. For example if you ordered chicken nuggets, in the past it came with beans or peas, now it's just chips and nuggets (go to Dennison Arms at the bottom of the hill to fill your kids up!). Also, the play area at the back of the club is stated as suitable for under fives only, and literally right next to it is the designated smoking area which for me, no matter how you look it, can't possibly make sense.

My Wife and I have just returned from yet another visit to the Jacobs Mount Caravan Park. We have been visiting this site along with other sites for a number of years along with our friends and family and find we still have to keep returning to Jacobs.
All the staff are very friendly and helpful. It is great value for money for what you get on this site as all pitches are super pitches with own water and drainage facilities. The pitches are a good size and very nicely set out. The shower block is clean and well maintained. The clubhouse is very large and friendly serving excellent food at reasonable prices.
We were pleased with the low cost of the electricity used with the introduction of the smart card payment system, we had £10 put on to start with and got £6. 40 back when we left after the long weekend, admittedly the weather had been kind to us but considering the reasonable pitch per night price, again good value
The site is about a 10 minute car ride into Scarborough or 10 Minutes to the local Morrisons supermarket and close to a large Garden centre.
Would we go back. WE DO

Great site, very close to scarborough with out all the traffic queues you get if you stay filey side
Convenient for travelling to whitby robin hoods bay etc,
On site pub decent showers and security barrier which locks at 11pm so beware
Staff are friendly and very helpful they do not tolerate trouble or rule breakers which is great as you know there's less chance of an idiot ruining your holiday
A few basic items are available to buy from reception but there are super markets 10 minutes drive away
Pitch was big enough for our twin wheel 27ft touring van and awning

Jacobs mount is a great site food excellent clubhouse good great location its our most favourite site. We have a tourer and visit as often as we can. As to the other guy who left a review saying the staff are not friendly and prefer static owners and seasonal pitches owners must be off another planet. As the staff are really friendly and helpful you receive a warm welcome ever time cannot fault it in anyway.

This is overall a pleasant campsite, with clean, spacious pitches and clean facilities. We received a fairly pleasant welcome when we arrived, although we did feel there was a lack of information given, such as opening times of facilities and there wasn't any tourist information we could see. The wash blocks were kept clean by the staff and replenished often, but I did find the lack of hot water taps at the wash basins slightly irritating. The showers for me were always hot, however, my husband and two boys had only warm showers at times. You use tokens to pay for the showers, 3 for £1, and the tokens give you approx 8 mins of shower time, which is ample. The site explained that the reason they now charge is that people kept tying the punch buttons down and leaving them on, and resulted in sky high water bills for the site. In fact whilst we were there someone left the hot tap running in the family bathroom, draining the hot water, leaving cool showers. However, the site gave us more tokens and boosted the hot water. There really is no need to tie them down and you can keep a constant flow going. There is also a charge for the electricity, again due to the fact that people started to take a lot more electrical equipment with them, and do things like leave a heater on in an awning all night for a dog. We were initially a bit annoyed about the electric but soon realized that it didn't cost as much as we thought it might as it encouraged us to think about what we were using. It does feel a rural site, and it is lovely to wake up with an abundance of birdsong, also there didn't seem to be the traffic throughout the site, which you often get. With regards to it's location, it is at the top of quite a steep hill out of Scarborough, but we were able to bike in (20 mins) and walk in (40 mins), which saved on the expensive parking in town, and traffic queues.
Just a couple of points which I think need to be mentioned. Firstly, there was quite a lot of rubbish build up when we left. It was all in the bin area and it had been a bank holiday weekend, although I don't think the site was full, but, we just thought the site could have arranged for some of it to be bagged and moved elsewhere, instead of leaving it around the bins. Not nice for those who were pitched next door to it. There weren't any recycling facilities on site, which could have helped, but equally, people weren't breaking boxes down either, which didn't help. The second thing, which I understand is difficult for the site to control, was the foul language we heard throughout our stay, all from children between the ages of about 4 and 10 years old. If fact at one point both me and my husband, on two separate occasions asked the children to stop. My two boys (12yrs & 9yrs) also complained about the language on the park. I did mention it to reception when we checked out, and they told me they'd had to speak with a family the week before about their language.
Finally, we weren't asked if we had enjoyed our stay when we left, which we thought quite unusual. We enjoyed our stay at Scarborough, but I think you get what you pay for. Would we stay at this site again? Probably not.

Well we stayed at Jacobs Mount this year and we had a shock when where told that you have to pay for the electric extra via a smart card and we were not told at the time of booking and the web site did not inform you, but this as now been updated. But the only good thing the pitch fees are the same as the last few years. The problem we have is the showers as you need is 3 hands or a zip tie to hold the button in to have a shower as so as let go of the button the water stops I think the showers need updating

Just got back from 3nights a jacobs mount. Still same staff great people. Good toilet, shower block. Shower buy token. Only criticism is you have to pay for your electric now, this is not mentioned on web page. Electric is buy card you can put 5 pound a time on, what you don't use you get back. We were only there for 3 days and used 10 pounds with us having heating on all time out of the 5.

Me and my family went away with friend to Jacobs mount the location is perfect for visiting scarbrough
The site has all the facility's you need and it's very reasonable,
I had a few issues which have been mentioned in previous reviews, the showers are push button and require you to keep one hand holding buttons down to shower and tokens, 3 tokens cost £1
I personally found the all the staff rude unless you are a static owner or seasonal
The electric is by meter and cost 14p a unit but the only refund in £5 or £10 if you don't use all the money you preload on.
The club is child friendly and the food is very good and homemade. If you decide to play bingo make sure you sit near the bingo caller we asked where we needed to sit to play and was told anywhere but when we won and called they carried on and the manager said he didn't hear us, 4 of us shouted bit strange! but a local ended up winning.
When you check out they never ask how your stay was, I and my friends thought and felt the site is for statics and seasonals but this is my opinion,
Use this site as a base but don't go with hi expectations

Just had a 5 night stay at Jacobs mount, Scarborough. The site is excellent, everywhere so clean and tidy, quiet, and staff very helpful and friendly. You pay a £5 refundable key deposit which enables the barrier to open and close and gives you access to the toilets and showers, toilets and showers very clean. First time on a campsite that had grey water drainage (make sure you take pipe and fittings to allow this) clean water on tap near your pitch, pitch was huge, electric hook up at opposite side to tap water. Its a 40 minute walk to town all downhill, (we like walking so not a problem) weather was good for us but wouldn't like to walk in bad weather, not suitable for anyone to walk if not good on their feet, pavement a bit hit and miss and a very busy road, we got a taxi back £6. 20 from the station in Scarborough. The bar was open 4 nights during our stay, very pleasant in there and people very friendly, I even won at bingo - 1st time I have played in 30 years! meals are available, didn't have food in the bar but it looked very good and plenty were eating(varied menu and ok prices) will definitely visit this site again and would recommend Jacobs mount. The camp is surrounded by trees and all areas are well tended. At £14 a night the price is great.

We stopped here for two nights, cant fault this site one bit. We took our little lad who is 5 and he loved it. Made friends very quickly and everyone who we met on this site were very friendly. The facilities were great and very clean!
The location was ideal for visiting Scarborough just down the road so need for travelling too far.
One bonus we discovered that our pitch had drainage and water on the same pitch which as were new to touring was a great experience. Think I will be always looking to book a fully equipped pitch.
Will certainly be booking again to come here again next year!
