Couple - early 50's - look for peace, quiet and tranquillity, but with a few mod cons. Easy cycling is a massive bonus!
Stayed 3 nights - Fri 12/08 to Mon 15/08
Cost - Grass pitch - 2 adults + Tent + Car + EHU £27pn.
First time at this site, and first in the area for many, many years!
Booked by 'phone on the Monday prior to arrival. Was asked for a £20 deposit, with balance payable on arrival. Not a problem of course, but still a rarity for us to pay a deposit, when booking as late as we do.
The cost was around 50% more expensive than we are used to, but we really wanted to camp (and cycle) in this area, and the site reviews were encouraging, so why not!
We received a confirmation Email, a code number for the outer barrier (gets you access to the car park and reception), and the warning not to rely on the postal post code for directions to the entrance.
The booking process, reception on arrival, and the whole approach from the staff were nothing short of welcoming and impeccable. Just like the site itself. Very well tended to, with plants and flower beds throughout the site, all looking immaculate. After settling the balance payment, and handing over a (returnable) fiver for the access card for the inner barrier (to access the site proper) we were escorted to our pitch (G1).
Average size, nice covering of tidily mowed grass, but sloping down from front to back. Having a short fat tent, and pitching across the pitch gave us the all important 'bum to wind', as it was most definitely windy when we arrived. As a bonus, this also gave us a partial sea view (only available on this first tent pitch, whilst pretty much all hardstanding pitches (The vast majority) offered a sea view. I suspect a long tunnel tent would either face down-slope to the trees at the back, or up-slope to the site (and rather attractive mountain beyond), (which may mean sleeping with head lower than feet!)
Anything deeper than 4' got quite stoney, so I'd advise rock/hardground pegs. Held very well though, without a doubt.
Once pitched (our neighbours abandoned their attempt and left site, leaving us as sole representatives of the tenting community, amongst a vast array of wheeled units), the owner/warden, without prompting, very kindly added their Land Rover as an additional windbreak alongside our own MPV. As the winds were regularly throwing gusts in excess of 40mph (and nearer 60mph later that night!), it goes without saying that that little gesture was very much appreciated!
(For the record, the wind dropped considerably throughout the Saturday, and didn't even merit a mention on the Sunday and Monday morning, so just because it sit's high above the coastline, don't presume it is permanently windy here, as it wasn't!)
Very nice amenities block. Always clean, never busy. Water always hot and plentiful. Lots and lots of 'local leaflets'. No shop on site (suits us!). A laundry and wash-up room, again all spotless.
There was a pub just outside the site entrance, which appeared to be nice. But we didn't try it on this occasion. We would have done if I had my way! Next time, hopefully!
A good 5 minute trundle (on bikes) to get down to the promenade/cycle path, then a perfect (for us) ride East through Conwy, and on around the estuary to LLandudno. 90% traffic-free.
If I had to be negative, we both got the feeling that a small number of guests gave the impression that they considered themselves too high and mighty to raise a smile, or even return a 'good morning' in our direction, wot wiv us only 'avin' a tent, innit. Not really experienced that anywhere else, in all honesty. But thankfully, they were by far the minority, and we did get some lovely comments from others regarding our tent, and it's determination not to be beaten by the elements!
I'm tempted to say it's a little expensive here, but for us, with the setting, the condition of the site, the welcome from, and professionalism of the staff, the location, and proximity(ish!) to our target area of Llandudno, and of course, that there are no kids running about (It was the main summer school holidays) I'd just about say it was value for money. There were enough all round positives for us to be tempted back to the area, and back to this site.
Thanks for having us, and a mega thanks for the loan of your 4 wheel drive windbreak!
Hopefully see you again soon.

We have visited here 4 times now. It is a beautiful site with superb scenery, or so I am told (I am blind). From the moment of arrival Pam and her team make us very welcome and take the caravan off the car and manoeuvre it into place. A new addition to the pitches we have been on is a waste water pipe making bringing a wastemaster unnecessary. The toilets are excellent and very clean. I tend to use the accessible room if available and I have a minor issue in the fact that this room is enclosed and needs better ventilation A nice touch is the fact that the drinking water taps have a flexible pipe attached. The wifi signal is good although we now have the facility to pick up BT Open Zone. The site is quiet and the people are very friendly. The site is conveniently located for many areas including Angelsey, Llandudno and Conway to name a few. There are useful shops within walking distance. Penmaenmawr is an interesting town and is quite quirky. It can be very windy on this site and sometimes it seems to come from nowhere. Take advice from Pam about whether to erect an awning or not. We have been twice this year and neither time did we put up our awning.

Just spent 3 amazing days on this caravan park. Everything about it is truly outstanding, the Staff, cleanliness, views, and more. We will most certainly visit again, hopefully very soon. I can honestly say one of the very best we have visited, and we were very lucky with the weather. Gorgeous! Love the wet room!

My parents stayed here for a long weekend as their 30th anniversary treat, and found the caravan to be very clean and well-kept, and very comfortable for their break.
Beautiful scenery and you can see across to Puffin Island on a clear day.
There is free WiFi however sadly the signal was extremely weak and couldn't even be used for sending low resolution photos back home.
The owner Pam is very polite, it's just that some of the emails my parents received in reply to the occasional question (ie. Dates of availability, deposit etc) were very short and blunt, though.
All in all, my parents probably won't be staying here again but they really enjoyed staying in the caravan.

We just spent four nights here, what a lovely site!
The team are helpful, kind and friendly.
We had an amazing view from our tent over the great orme and harbour.
Showers and toilets are clean, spacious and well lit.
As the place is near mountains, it can get a bit windy, so ensure you take some strong pegs, that said, we only had one night of wind!
Oh, also, watch the beach near Llandudno, there is loads of glass on it from an old dump that washed in during a storm, I worry for dogs.

Lovely site with amazing sea views. Our pitch was on the raised terraces with an uninterrupted view out to sea. Our only criticism of the pitch was that it was badly in need of weeding, I think our area was the worst on the site, just looked a bit unkept. The toilets/showers were good although dimly lit and push button showers with no control for temperature, would never be my first choice. The wardens were friendly enough and the way they take your caravan off the car and pitch up for you is fab, particularly after a long journey. The Gladstone pub at the entrance to the site is worth a visit, steak night was fantastic value for money - just a shame they didn't let dogs in. Nice walk to beach from site, dogs allowed all year. Wi-fi not included and quite expensive for the week. Lots to see and do in the area, everywhere we visited was lovely. Overall a good site, but a couple of improvements would take this site in to league of its own.

Welcoming and friendly owner. Terraced, , secure site in an absolutely lovely location set between Llandudno and Conwy with stunning sea views to the front and welsh mountain at the rear. Nice and quiet, gardens and all plots well maintained and a credit to the owner. Electric hook up points close by pitches, water taps near by.
Shower facilities, toilets and laundry room well maintained and decorated. Although terraced and near to the A55, the site is very peaceful and a short walk takes you to the beach and surrounding areas i. E. Local pub on doorstep, village shop nearby, etc. Also close by are all North Wales hot spots so convenient for touring the areas.
Adult only site so no playground but plenty of beautiful flowers, shrubs and lawned areas including dog walk/area.
Will definitely be returning soon. Thank you Pam!

Just spent four nights at Tyddyn Du, and what a great site it is. Reception is right at the entrance along with a large parking area if you arrive a little early. The staff are all very friendly and professional from check in to being sited on your pitch is very efficient. The guys even unhitch your caravan and position it for you and provide you with all the info you need to start enjoying your stay.
Our pitch was in a superb location on the terrace and gave us amazing views of the coast and hills behind. Pitch number withheld because we want to book it next time we visit!
Toilet and shower facilities are good, but the lighting is a little dim in the shower cubicles. I have no problem with push button taps as I have said before, they save water.
Tyddyn Du is a great base to visit the towns and local attractions of North Wales, we had an amazing day touring Snowdonia National Park, the views are stunning and the day was glorious which made it wonderful. We also visited the National Trust properties Bobnant Gardens and Penrhyn Castle.
Tyddyn Du was the second site of a three week tour and we are now off to the Lake District.

Wonderful site the views are amazing. Facilities are outstanding everything immaculately clean my one and only comment was the loo brush holders, they could be a bit deeper so as to be not on view as they did look unclean and rather nasty. A bit petty I know but I felt it let the toilet block and the cleaners down. Everyone was so friendly and helpful, even before I got out of the car they had sited the van so my motor mover was redundant! We have gone to another site in the same area for years but this will now be our site of choice we enjoyed it so much. This is well worth a visit.
