Excellent site, great value. Ideal for exploring Lathkill Dale, and used it as a base for driving around the area. In the top field, there were a couple of well supervised DoE groups, no problems at all. Should have checked the location map a bit better, as there are 3 sites with the same post code! Guided in with a quick phone call. Clean toilets and showers, bit surprised that there's no hot water in the handwashing basins, but not a big deal.

I loved this site and because there are only two of us paying per person works well for us as it was only £5 each per night.
If you're looking for on-site shops and parks then this site isn't for you but if all you need are spotless showers, well-cut grass and amazing walks then you're all set.
The site was easy to find using the map on the webpage, I did this from memory and my memory is awful! You need the first turning and not the second into the site. The owners were friendly and gave us excellent directions for a circular walk through Lathkill Dale. This was simply stunning and although it means a seriously long and steep walk back up to Over Haddon the beer garden at the top makes it worthwhile and was vital to getting my partner out for a walk in the first place! There is also a second circular walk up to Moneyash so plenty for a weekend.
We drove out towards Longnor going out of Moneyash and the views from the road were outstanding. The Bulls Inn in Moneyash is great for kids with a zipwire and swing boats in its play area, I was desperate for a go. The food though is a bit expensive and not that impressive but I can only say that for what we had. We also had lunch at a lovely pub in Sheldon, I can't remember the name but think there is only one there.
On the site there are three fields. The bottom, which is quite separated, is for DoE only and has its own facilities which is good. When we arrived we were warned that a large church group would be arriving on the top field which is completely flat so we went with the middle field. As we were first there we managed to get on the reasonably flat bit at the top near the toilets. There was a slight slant as the air bed shifted down the bedroom over the two nights but it wasn't a problem. The rest of the field slopes but not excessively so.
There is an undercover and outdoor washing up area with large sinks and draining areas, You have to pay 20p for hot water. There are loads of bins and recycling points and these are kept clean and clear and there were no wasps which was fab.
The showers are 20p a minute and really hot if you're not careful. They made me shout out and turn it down quick at which point they went freezing and made me shout again. Once you get the temperature right though they are really good, but something to be aware of if bathing a child. There is a bench and some hooks so its easy to get organised before you put your money in. I spotted a couple of plug sockets in front of the mirror in the toilets. I didn't take my hairdryer so didn't try them but I assume they are free.
There are more than enough toilets and showers and I quite liked the fact that the facilities were in cabins rather than an old outbuilding with spiders. They were well lit at night and always had loo roll.
Hedges and trees surround the fields and so they are well sheltered and you can pitch wherever you like. I really liked the relaxed atmosphere and the fact that you can go on and leave when you like. This is important when only going for 2 nights.
There are no shops within walking distance so make sure you have what you need but Bakewell is only 10 minutes away and there are plenty of shops including a CO-OP and a Spar. There is a freezer for ice-packs as well and there was plenty of space which was good as I didn't have to go on my usual 10 minute ice-pack hunt!
I will definitely be going back to this site, the surrounding area is stunning and for £5 per person it was excellent value. I just wish it allowed caravans so that we could have our family weekend there with my parents.

Just spent 2 lovely days here. Great site with good views of the Derbyshire Dales and Bakewell is only a 7 mins drive for shops and very good chippy.
The facilities are basic but very clean and well maintained. 60p should get you a good shower with good hot water and pressure. Only 20p to wash your dishes.
It's a working farm too so there are animals around for kids to see and it's a 'proper' campsite where you make your own enjoyment.
The top field is flatter and more open and you really feel like you're in the middle of nowhere and can relax. Great hour or two walk down in Lathkill Dale gorge with lovely stream and wildlife.
One little tip - the loo doors do bang a bit so maybe camp at the other end of the site to avoid nocturnal disturbance.

A basic campsite but good value at £4. 75 per person. Plenty of showers and toilets. The groups field for DofE etc appear to have their own facilities which is a blessing. The showers are 20p/min which is a bit steep but they are hot and strong, and set against the price per night are a bearable cost. Good pubs nearby and Lathkill dale is beautiful.
The outlook is good, particularly from the top field, which is the least sloping.
Can't rate the customer service as all I did is pay.

A proper campers site. No EHU, no caravans or campervans and a remote feeling location. Great priceper person. 20p per min for showers is great as the water is hot and good pressure. Two fields with plenty of space. Top field is flatter but slightly more exposed and stony. Sloping field has longer grass and is slightly more sheltered. It is quite high up in the dales here. Monyash is hiking distance and Over Haddon is a 20 minute stroll. Both have pubs. Freezer in wash block for your ice gel packs. Thoroughly recommended

Just returned from a lovely few days at this site. Its a basic site which we prefer but its reflected on the cost £4.75 per person per night, with a coin operated shower and hot water, so pay if you use and don't if you don't.
Very quiet chap who owns it always about to keep a eye on things and is very welcoming
Pitch where you want which is great as we have a large tent. We will be back

Beautiful Site with all you need AND Fantastic People!
We have just got home from a weekend in the White Peak - (White to Dark Peak Walk) Starting at Bakewell ending at Hope
All the campsites in Bakewell informed me that they were fully booked (and would not even entertain us - even though we only had a 1 man tent)
We called Mandale House and they were VERY helpful! - Not only did they 'fit' us in but also allowed us to leave a car for the weekend AND after a phone call (from Bakewell) to ask for the local taxi company as I couldn't walk back (twisted knee) the owner came and collected us! - Such nice people!
The facilities are basic, but it's all you need. Showers & hot water in the washing up room are 20p per minute, but as the pitch prices are so cheap (£4. 75pppn) this is not costly.
With a 5 minute drive to Bakewell and 45min-1 hour enjoyable walk, the site is very well located yet it feels very remote, the views are wonderful and its so peaceful (after the tractors come in)

Spent two nights at Mandale and enjoyed every moment.
When you reach the end of the drive, there is a space to park your car, the reception is to your left, through a gate.
I had already booked prior so informed them who I was. They took my details and informed of the two areas available.
There is a sloping first field which although fine, I would imagine is more suited to backpackers.
Then following the road, past the toilet/shower block, you get to the 'top' field which is much larger.
I really enjoyed this site, plenty of room for us with out group of 5 children to run around without annoying anybody, we had the bottom of the field pretty much to ourselves on the second day.
In the morning, the chickens come around to inspect for any left overs which is rather amusing.
The facilities are basic, but practical. I have included pictures of the facilities to be uploaded.
Showers are 20p per minute, as is hot water in the washing up room. As the pitch prices are so reasonable, this fee is not even worth mentioning in my opinion.
No EHU, no caravans, I loved it. Felt very much like 'back to basic' good old camping.
With a less than 5 minute drive to Bakewell, the site is very well located yet it feels very remote, some great views.
It is what it is.

Nice, silent place with an awesome chilled out ambience.
Toilet block was clean & spacious. There were only
Couple of campers other than us and the place was spacious enough to accommodate many other campers. We were five friends and had two tents with us. Got to park our car very next to the tents and also did a bbq and managed to party without troubling other campers.
It is a bit away from main roads but very close to the top peak district attractions.

We had a lovely stay at this campsite. It was basic but suited what we were looking for. It was quiet and in a nice setting in the countryside. We took our two year old and she enjoyed the hens.
It was a short drive to Bakewell which is a really lovely place to visit. There is a great playground with splashplay which we used in a number of occasions when the weather was good.
There are plenty of places to eat in bakewell as well as supermarket, shops, pubs etc. There is plenty of parking available a short walk away. We would return to this Site in future.
