Great basic site. The showers were hot, but only two of them so queues at peak times. No hot water at the dishwashing sinks, we either washed up at the tents or filled the bowl in the sinks in the loos.
A friendly site, we were a group of 4 families (8 kids) and we acquired 3 more in the evenings and a couple of parents too.
Very close to Lathkill Dale, turn right out of the site and take the path down towards the Caravan site, this brings you halfway into Lathkill Dale. Turn left for the mines/caves and paddle-able river - end up at Over Haddon. Turn right for the water fall, again paddle-able and the quarry, the river is crystal clear. This way you end up on Monyash. The cafe is to be recommended.
As the site is so isolated and no lights we had a fantastic star gazing opportunity, the milky way, and satellites were seen.
We will be going again.

Stayed on this campsite with my young daughter for 2 nights. Great views when it was clear enough. The bottom field is much more sheltered, if you pitch at the top the slope isn't too bad. The top, flat field, felt very windy. You would really need a car to make the most of this site, we didn't and had to walk to the next village for a bus (about 20min), of which there is a very limited service. The owners were helpful. The toilets and showers are basic and were kept clean, this was a very wet weekend, but they were mopped regularly. It great value for what you are getting, and would go again if we took the car.

This is a site for walkers that camp, if you aren't don't go you'll be disappointed.
It's basic, a little isolated and not really a place to chill out, day or eve.
If your boots are made for walking then it does exactly what it says on the tin, if, like ours, your boots are made for popping out to the offy and straight off again when you get back, don't bother!

My partner and I have just spent a long bank holiday weekend at Mandale farm.
There is a choice of 2 fields the family field which is a bit flatter than the lower field. Best tip in the family field is to camp at the bottom near the gate/ toilet block (I know what people think about that but your far enough away for it not to bother you) you are sheltered by the wall and trees from the wind.
The toilets are ok, they're clean and there is toilet roll. There are 2 showers with hot water (but it does tend to run out so be early or wait till the made rush has been and let the boiler warm up again). Theres also 2 sinks to wash dishes in.
There are 2 small villages near by but not in walking distance if your heading to the pub. Bakewell has more pubs and is only £6 in a taxi.
The couple that run the campsite are welcoming and warm, they sell hot food in the morning, tea coffee ect.
Would recommend this site and will come back again.

My partner and I have just returned home from a weekend camping at Mandale. We are both in our early 30's and went with 4 friends.
The site is pretty hard to find theres no sign posts so make sure you study your map !Its a 5 min drive from Bakewell and has no pubs in walking distance.
This site has 2 fields 1 being a family field the other being more suited to our gang.
With it being a bank holiday weekend we were suprised how quiet the site was. Although it said ' site Full ' when driving through the entrance gates !
There shower and toilet units were very close to both fields. They were very basic and had toilet roll. There were a few sinks to wash dishes but we took paper plates so cant comment.
You can buy cups of milk, hot chocolate, tea and coffee from the reception area and bacon butties served in the morning £2 each.
We thouroughly enjoyed this weekend and would definitely go back to Mandale. It is a very basic site, not over crowded .Perfect for a chilled, relaxed weekend and you dont have to worry about being to noisy.
A tip. The best place to pitch if your camping on the none family field is on the right as soon as you go through the 1st field gate. Its sheltered and keeps the wind off you. Also you get the sun there most of the day.
The owner is very friendly and helpful.

Stayed here for two nights in july this year. Very nice area, lovely campsite, with decent toilet blocks (although often a bit smelly!) An outdoor sink for washing pots but sadly no hot water to do so. Only major downfall is that the main field is constantly windy making it a pain to pitch your tent, cook and makes you cold all the time! as soon as you walk away from the campsite the wind drops! Would go there again though as Lathkill Dale is lovely.

Site was very nice and good price for the facilities it has to offer. You could pitch anywhere and there was plenty of room even though it was busy. It was very windy when we were there and being in the top field it was extra windy. Stunning scenery and plenty of it. Basic toilet blocks with extra toilets in permanent porta-cabins. Toilet paper was good normally you get really hard stuff in these places. Lots of cobwebs to keep you busy whilst showering! One very annoying thing was that there was no soap dispensers so you either took your own each time you went to toilet or went without. Also no hand drying facilities. Could have done with a bit more of a clean in the showers areas as floors were soaking and you had to juggle to get clothes back on without getting them wet. Also a couple of more showers would be good only two showers. No hot water was a bit of pain in the washing up area. All in all a very nice site. Hot beverages and milk available from reception and bacon butties in the mornings was an added bonus. We visited Bakewell on the Saturday morning which was very nice with plenty of little treasure shops and mostly reasonably priced but very busy with loads of tourists. We also went on a very nice walk not far from the campsite. We would definitely go back there.

Stayed here on a very wet weekend at the end of May. The location is excellent but a sign at the end of the road would be helpful! Great views and wonderful local walks and cycle routes. Also a wonderful pub in Monyashe - the Bulls Head - which provided respite from the incessant downpour! Loo block very basic, a bit smelly and ran out of loo roll. Pity they haven't plumbed in hot water to the dishwashing area which is also very exposed. Reasonable site but could definitely do with a bit of investment.

We stayed here for one night, its a lovely location in the country about 2 1/2 miles from Monyash and 5 minutes drive to Bakewell. Loads of good walks to do in the area. The site is nice and clean and tidy but there is not many level pitches, but you can pitch anywhere you want except the field which is for D.O.E kids only. Showers were free and hot, but the shower heads are fixed and were level with my chin (I'm only 6 foot btw) so showering was a bit tricky! Toilets were ok. Friendly owners, they leave you to get on with things! They sell bacon butties in the morning too. All in all a good basic site and we will visit again in the not too distant future.

This was my first visit to the campsite which was a great location near to Bakewell and close to many foot paths. The site wasn't over crowded which was great especially being bank holiday. But I was disappointed with amount and state of facilities. There were only 2 showers & I was surprised by a cold shower at 9am on the morning, not what I needed. The floors looked liked they hadn't been cleaned for a year though the overall cleanliness of showers & toilets were good. Washing up facilities were outside and only had cold water. Not bad for the £3.50 pppn.
