Just returned from a 4 day stay at this camp site. I have to say, what a great location. Toms Field Camp site is a lovely site. Facilities are a bit dated but outstandingly clean and tidy. Staff seem friendly. My Wife loved the rabbits roaming around. Good campsite rules. I. E all dogs to be kept on a lead at all times and quiet at 11:45 onwards. Will definitely return.

Stayed for one (Friday) night early September. Thought we'd try it as a comparison to Acton Field which is just up the road. There were various music/walking/steam train festivals that weekend, which may have contributed to numbers. Also weather was good so perhaps just the usual climbing/biking/hiking people out as well.
Good things about this site - toilet/shower facilities are well kept, showers require tokens (25p) but give a very generous three minutes, and are fully adjustable with plenty of hot water. Also a good number of them, and of separate wash-basin cubicles. Washing up facilities also good. I like the positive emphasis on environment and sustainability (recycling bins, solar hot water, birdfeeders etc). Good on-site shop, open from 8 a. M. - midday, then again from 4? or perhaps 5 p. M. Until about 7 p. M. Pop-up breakfast café in the mornings very popular, but £3 for a bacon sandwich seems a little more than I would expect. Local produce though, so that's a plus.
Not-so-good things - site it very well known and popular, but quite small so when we turned up on the Friday at about 5 p. M. It was already busy, and the remaining spaces were basically next to the access route around site, so there was no quiet corner to tuck ourselves into. Also as it is sheltered it loses the evening sun quite early at that time of year. Quite busy with new arrivals driving in (and past our spot) through the evening, and then pitching in the dark using car headlights - possibly a bit disturbing if you're in a tent close by.
Would go back, but maybe during the week or at a quieter time of year.

Stayed two nights, 10th and 11th July 2013.
Very busy site, but so well organised it did not feel crowded. Owners very hands on, friendly and caring about their site and customers. Each day they were about several times to help if needs be.
Very good shop, ice blocks for hire, excellent recycling system.
Most amazing views over Swanage and the surrounding area.
Only slight downer was not all pictures are level but that was the pay off for the view. Showers and hair dryers on tokens and seemed good value.
Lots of walks around, Dancing Ledge for swimmers and climbers. Good shop down road into village and some pubs, which we did not visit.
Lovely site, excellent value for money, will return.

We've stayed here several times, but had not been back to the area for several years.
Tom's Field remains one of my favourite camp sites. The facilities continue to improve, but keep to the same tradition with a strong emphasis on green issues. For example the new urinals in the gents are waterless ones.
The biggest change for me this year was the opening of a breakfast cafe (The Bower) serving full English breakfasts, although I didn't get a chance to sample them.
We arrived just after 2pm on a Friday at the start of the school holidays so were very pleased to get a pitch. The 'full' signs went up just after we arrived. I note that it's possible to book a space if you are staying for 5 nights or more. Five nights in this area and staying at Tom's Field would be a great: it's a super site and there's no shortage of things to do in the area.

We had a great holiday in May half term, despite rainy weather.
The site is in a gorgeous location close to unspoilt coast - walk from the site to the cliffs nearby for gorgeous views. We stayed on the small field with hook ups which was handy for the loos etc. And sheltered, but the larger tent field looked to have better sea views if this is important.
There is lots of chilled out entertainment nearby - we walked over fields to catch a steam train to Corfe Castle for the day, and explored Swanage. The Square and Compass pub in Worth Matravers is lovely on a sunny day for a pasty and a pint looking out to the blue sea.
The staff are friendly and the site well maintained. The shop sells fresh bread / croissants, groceries and a surprising range of camping equipment.
Washing facilities are ample and well maintained, with hot showers and separate basins for private teeth washing, and we never queued.
I definitely plan to return.

We stayed at Tom's Field this month for a long weekend. The campsite was very quiet (well, it was quite early in the season I guess). We were allowed to pitch wherever we wanted. The site is nice and flat, immaculately clean and well laid out with fresh water points all over the site. The staff are extremely polite, cheerful and helpful. The toilet block facilities are perfectly adequate and clean. The showers work on a token system at 25p for 3 minutes which is fine for a nice hot shower.
The site is well located for some great coastal walks and local attractions of Southern Dorset. It's a short drive in to Swanage for some nice pubs and supermarkets although there is a well stocked shop on site and the Langton Matravers village shop sells locally sourced produce.
The pubs in the village are fine although The Kings Head is not particularly welcoming to tourists / outsiders. The Square & Compass in nearby Worth Matravers is a must for the great selection of local beers and ciders. Their home-made pasties are also great (note they only serve pies and pasties so don’t be disappointed by their lack of extensive lunch time menu).
We would definitely come back to Tom’s Field again (although probably when the weather is less inclement).

The best site I've been on near swanage, very clean, nice shop and helpful staff, this would have been my 6th stay at this site. Ideal for a cycling / walking holiday base camp. If on arival the site is full there is another campsite just up the road which always seems to have spaces.

Toms Field is nicely located under a mile from the coastal path, and about three miles from Swanage. Dog friendly beaches at Studland, which is about 6 miles away, and is lovely. The site has about 100 pitches, and has a lively atmosphere, particularly when full. However was lovely and peaceful when the Saturday campers left. The facilities are a bit dated, but were clean and quite adequate, even when the site was full.
Good walks from the campsite, good bus links, friendly efficient owners, nice part of the world. Recommended, but we would only visit out of season, not on a weekend as it can get a bit busy.

Returning to camping after 30 years, this was a nice site to use.
A big thank you to the climbers in the next pitch who helped to put the tent up I had borrowed (with no picture of what it should look like or instructions. School boy error !) in the strong wind.
The lady in the shop was polite and helpful. The toilets were immaculate. The showers were clean and did the job.
The site was well managed, clean, tidy and people were having a good time without too many boisterous / screaming children disturbing other campers.
I found the Ship Inn to be over priced and I did not think the advertised 'Fine Food' justifiable -£9 for a very average plate of scampi struck me as a bit steep. To be fair the staff were nice - as was the beer, but again this was expensive in my opinion.
I would stay here again.

Great site in a great location, especially for the surrounding rock climbing locations that can be reached on foot from the campsite. The nearest pub is not fantastic but can walk to the square and compass in Worth Matravers which is excellent. Very well stocked shop. Toilets an showers are a bit basic but fine, could do with improvement. The site is very well suited to small tents, there is not really the space for large ones.
