Have been going to this site for several years now (2 or 3 times a year) and have always enjoyed our stay. Very organised, a shop for anything you've forgotten to bring and a more than adequate ablutions hut along with wash-up sinks.
Very much approve of the recycling ethos and the surrounding scenery is stunning. Charges are amongst the cheapest in the area and the site can become full very quickly on a summer weekend. My only gripe is that you are not allowed a wood fire even if its's in a barbecue some 18 inches off the ground (no scorch marks). We were asked not to have a fire whilst enjoying one. To me a camp fire (albeit very controlled) is the epitome of a camping weekend. Other camp sites do allow them despite what we were told at Tom's Field and some of the New Forest sites actually sell bagged wood. Surely cooking on wood as well as charcoal is greener than using gas! That said, would recommend this site.

A well sheltered compact site near to Langton Matravers. Good facilities all-round. Some good views too. Clean tidy site with a gated entrance. Was very busy at Weekend although this did not surprise me for this time of year. Camp shop provides basics.
Footpaths straight off the site to the coastal footpath. Indeed footpaths everywhere! About an hours walk to Swanage and a local if infrequent bus service.
The nearby cliffs are great for wild flowers and butterflies. Arne nature reserve nearby and miles of sandy beaches.
Great site.

Just got back from what should have been a weekend visit but enjoyed it so much I stayed for longer!
What a really nice site this is. It seems they will go out of their way to help you here. They have ice blocks for rent for a returnable deposit, they will even charge your phone batteries for you (they were looking everywhere for a charger to charge a phone who had left theirs behind!) They lent me the last remaining shop copy of a book of local walks for a day or so.
Showers are token operated (25p) and you get long enough. They are not the most powerful in the world it has to be said but the water was shot which is what counts.
Small shop on site which seems to be open most of the time selling bread milk etc as well as camping items you may have forgotten. There are plenty of water taps on site
Site is very friendly and quiet, although no marked pitches as such there is more than enough space. I got there Friday at 11 and by one the site was full.
Ideally placed for a number of walks in area and access to the dancing ledge is about 30 mins away from literally just outside site.
They try to recycle as much as possible and have bins for various items- one very minor niggle was that they have a compost area which doesn't have a front on so if its windy some stuff gets blown about but as I said very minor!
I will certainly be going back there soon

Lovely location, a pretty campsite with fantastic countryside walks and sea close-by. The staff were good, well stocked / priced shop, and facilities more than adequate (not new but well kept and in the spirit of things). The field itself is well laid out with water-taps and has good views.
However, this is not a big campsite. We were a party of 3 families with 5 6-year-olds, it was a busy week-end and us parents were concerned that our children (in usual 6 year-old mode) were not disturbing other campers, there was not a lot of space for them to run-around, do ball-games, frissbee etc.
Given those limitations, it's a delightful site.

Had heard about this campsite from friends but this was the first time we had stayed there. We arrived Friday morning and only just got a pitch as the site was full by the afternoon. We were in a group and couldn't all camp together due to space but it didn't really matter as the tents were all close by.
The site itself is in a beautiful location. I quite liked the small areas surrounded by stone walls but felt that the pitches were a little close together perhaps. My 18 month old loved it there, looking at sheep, rabbits and lots of birds. The 11.45pm 'no noise' curfew was well respected.
There are plenty of showers although the ladies ones could have done with a bit of a clean when I used them. Also, the water was a bit dribbly and ran hot and cold, especially in the parent and child cubicle which obviously wasn't great for the little one. However, others in the group said their showers were fine so I might have just been unlucky when I had mine. Didn't experience any queues for sinks, washing up, showers, etc despite site being full.
The shop is well stocked with lots of camping gear which is handy if you've forgotten something, and has fresh bread delivered in the mornings.
Staff were great (apart from one slightly moody woman) and bent over backwards for us.
Main drawback for us was that you aren't allowed campfires which is a real shame as that would make it perfect.
All in although a nice site, in a great location. Would definitely stay again.

Just come back from Tom's Field, we have been coming to Tom's Field for 9 years now. This site is the best site it has a very traditional feel to it a very good shop the shower block is old but everything is clean and water is hot at any time 25p for disc from shop.
It is very eco friendly big on recycling. Great walks from site to Dancing ledge and Square & Compass Pub at Worth Matravers

Two adults, two daughters and one dog. Our first time at Tom's Field and won't be our last. Well maintained, great position for walking the coastal paths or catching a bus. We only used the car to go to the supermarket in Swanage.
Toilet/shower block simple but always clean. The site was quiet at night. No playground but the children all played beautifully together. Proper camping!

This is a brilliant site, very helpful friendly owners. Ideally sited for visiting surrounding area, the local bus runs hourly and will take you to corfe castle, poole, and swanage all worth looking round. Many walks and cycle rides from site, 1 I would recommend is to the Scott inn at Kingston just for the view.
The facilities were basic but clean and what do you expect from the price of a pitch. Only gripe is the facilities I could not take the girlfriend there! shame

Stayed at Toms Field for one night late-September on the strength that it is a favourite of my boyfriend's. Arrived at about 7:30pm and there were still pitches available (you pay the site officer in the morning). The site is flat and instructs a 'no noise' policy to commence just before midnight resulting in an excellent night's sleep! The field is in the countryside, in walking distance of a village and 5 mins drive (2 miles) from Swanage. It offers excellent walks to the Dancing Ledge and links to the Jurassic Coastal Path. The site has a small shop selling basic necessities, has recycling facilities as well as washing facilities for utensils. The toilet / shower block was fairly ample in size and clean. The showers / hairdryers operated on a token / pay system. I didn't spot any electrical (3-pin) points for straighteners and such like but hey, who needs straighteners when camping! We paid £12 for the night and I'd definitely recommend it!

I usually leave reviews to my wife, but I was so taken with Tom's Field I've had to do it myself!
Heard about this place from many sources, however what stuck in my memory was a friend saying it was 'almost a festival atmosphere' - and do you know? he was right!. A lovely site with some little tucked away areas which would be great for a group of friends! - Toilets / showers / washup / chemical disposal - somewhat dated but very clean and tidy. The shop - well stocked with organics / fair trade but didn't sell booze! In the evening all was peaceful and everyone seemed to respect each other's peace and quiet. The site has a very strong recycling ethic and this applies to pitches that are left unoccupied to recover after heavy use. We didn't try the pubs in the village but walked down to Swanage - fantastic takeaway chippie at the 'Fish Plaice' and a Budgens and Co-op to stock up on the elusive booze. Walks along the esplanade. All in all a superb couple of days, we're now trying to work out how to get some time there before next year. (oh there is an annual folk fest which we missed but was told was 'very chilled' and a Blues fest in October.
It is a two mile mostly downhill / level walk into Swanage from the site. You will pass the post office and two pubs in Langton Matravers on the way. You may prefer to get the Number 40 bus back!
The showers take tokens (25p) which you can exchange when you leave if unused. It says you get three minutes but mine seemed to last longer.
To conclude this site is perfect for a chilled and laid back stay.
