Stayed for a long weekend whilst away walking the coastal paths in the area.
The is well located for walking, with paths direct from the site and Swannage about 2-3 miles away.
It was heavy rain for most of our stay but the pitch drained well and didn't turn too boggy. The facilities were ok, but got a bit mucky over the course of the weekend and generally could do with a bit of 'spruce-up' as appear dated.
The shop was well stocked and there is a breakfast bar serving hot brekkie. We only ventured in on arrival and to get shower tokens, on both occasions the lady on duty wasn't the happiest person!
There are two pubs in the village which are both within walking distance.
The best part about this site is its location for walking.

Had a great time, the weather was up and down but the views made up for it. We had excellent walks, the coast path takes you to Studland Bay and the beaches are the best. Langton Matravers is a must, great views. The showers and toilets were clean, and the shop was also well stocked. We have a dog and he loved it he went home very fit. Over all it is a very nice site would go back but you must be fit. If you like to walk or by bike, its about 3 miles from the town of Swanage, which is lovely and has a sandy beach.

Such a great site in such a beautiful part of the country. I would highly recommend it to everyone.
Helpful and useful shop, Great pitches, Quiet, Stunning scenery, great pubs nearby, good walks, near to lovely swanage. Everything you need to have a lovely great British summer camping holiday.
If your lucks in, you might get the 'Lucky shower', this shower was passed on via word of mouth. Basically you didn't need to pay for it! no rushing in this shower, great after a long day on the beach.
The drying rooms great too. Lovely and warm, perfect for getting young children ready for bed in. You can even bath the little ones in the dry room sinks!

One of our first camping trips in last couple of years, not sure what to expect but in the event it was a gem actually,
Staff helpful from minute you arrive, place quite strict on dog control so obviously our springer made us look bad by barking,
Just outside Swanage and bit far to walk but bus comes past entrance,
The coastal walk (can go to swanage to) & reached across a field behind site has stunning views of sea,
Shop on site, another on village high street a few hundred yards away.
Owner seems such a nice fella, and loaned me a roof box when he noticed I was short of space on way home.
Fully anticipate visiting again shortly

We always camp with friends for my husbands birthday and this year chose this site. In spite of a dreadful weather forecast the site was full on the Friday night and one couple only just squeezed in, luckily they had a camper van and not a tent otherwise it could have been a problem so perhaps, as they advertise, not a good site to meet other people on.
That said the pitches are large and not regimented and there are lots of interesting areas to pitch.
Shower block is Ok, lots of buildings joined on to each other and you have to walk past the showers to get to the loos. Personally I hate token showers but there was plenty of hot water for washing up and the drying rooms were great.
If it is no noise after 11.45 then the barrier should also be locked and cars arriving back after that time should have to park outside and walk in. Where we were camped cars woke us up both nights revving engines when stopping at the barrier and with radios on. This would be no problem on areas away from the shop.
The owners were helpful and friendly at all times.

Plus points - easy to find, wonderfully kept site, hot water, helpful and friendly staff, recycling, no caravans - only tents and small motor homes, good toilet, shower, laundry and washing up facilities, well stocked shop. The Sunday was the first day of Bowers Breakfast Bar which looked like it went down well with some campers.
Not so good - gets very busy and we had a number of families who were all friends pitch up just in front of us. They were quite noisy but quiet at night. Very open so not much privacy.
Nearby - Swanage - great little town, Corfe Castle, Lulworth Cove, Lulworth Castle, Durdle Door (stunning)

Tom's Field has a great outdoors feel to it, with lots of climbers staying on the site to go to Dancing Ledge. There were also a few kayaks and boats on site.
The site is on the coastal path called Priests Way. Dancing Ledge is approx 20 mins easy walk from the field via a footpath a few meters from the entrance to Toms Field.
The site is an easy 3 mile cycle from Swanage seafront. Downhill all the way there - but up hill all the way back!
We stayed on a busy weekend, but despite the number of people the toilet and shower blocks was kept very clean. They showers work on a 25p tokens bought from the shop and last a good three minutes.
The shop on site has everything you would need for camping. And more! Anything from groceries to spare guy ropes and tent poles. Good recycling facilities are also provided.
Overall, this site is excellent in both service and atmosphere.

I visited Tom's Field Camping site at the beginning of a two month trip around the UK, I was pleasantly surprised how quiet the site was. I think I paid £6 per night which bearing in mind that the site is fairly sheltered was a bargain.
Others have commented on the fact that the showers worked on a token system, but for £6 per night I feel this is totally reasonable. The showers were very nice and the other facilities including the shop were fantastic.
The coast is only about a 10-15 minute walk away and I spent a fantastic day walking into Swanage, and then back along the coastal path.

My hubby and I went to try this site out after reading reviews on here.
We arrived at 10am Friday to a site full sign on the gate but went and spoke to one of the girls in the shop who rather than turn us away or suggest another site as some site owners do, she took us round the site to find a pitch that we could use and suggested that if we were not totally happy we could wait and see if there was any movement after lunch and move over if we wanted to.
Staff on site were really helpful and accommodating all over the weekend, and considering it was a very busy BH weekend, they were appreciated - one of the girls even reserved us some of the locally produced pork and apple burgers when the next delivery arrived - delicious by the way.
The site was clean and tidy and again, considering how busy it was,the staff worked really hard to keep things that way. I will definitely be coming back during my next week off.

Discovered this site at the end of March, and first impressions was good. So fortnight later, we went back. We arrived late, it was dark and I first ever camping trip.
My 12 year old son and I erected the tent, we bought the previous year, and had never put up before, however by 1.00am we were in bed and no-one complained about the noise we made.
The shop and toilets were what we would expect, my boys commenting on the cleaning products on the wall inside the toilet block, had a cobweb between them, also mold was growing on the spray bottle. Yet despite that, it was clean.
The shop was packed and we had no facilities for coffee making, so the fact they sold hot coffee was bliss after a cold night. Now that we've lost our camping virginity we will return, earlier so I can see what I'm doing.
Oh, and we bought those disposable bbq trays, they lent us house bricks to sit them on, which was good for the ground, and you can hire a proper bbq for £1 a night with a £10 deposit.
