We have just got back from a weeks holiday at this fantastic campsite. The owner and staff are so helpful and friendly. The facilities are perfect even a proper bathroom so you can have a nice hot bath after climbing all the hills. The campsite is in a central location for walks to Watersmeet, the Valley of the Rocks and down into Lynmouth where you can get the cliff railway up into Lynton. There is a small shop on site that sells all the essentials and more. A pub next door that serves delicious food and it is advisable to book they are very popular. It's the little extras that puts this site on top for us. There is a large clean covered washing up area. The chemical waste disposal is an actual toilet with a hose so empty swirl round and flush away also in a covered area. There is a motor home service point, drive on open your waste taps empty and drive off. Large pitches with electric hook up and most have their own water tap. Not forgetting the fantastic views. Thank you Channel view for a perfect holiday.

This is a really nice site, if you want quiet with great views, this is for you.

The toilets and showers were always clean even though we visited very late in the season, and unusually there were enough to serve campers even when site is busy.

The lady owner was very helpful and friendly, and the shop seemed to stock most things you may need, and good news no charge for dogs.

The pub next door is very popular with great food, not the cheapest but you get what you pay for, good idea to book, and it's very dog friendly.

Just remember this area is called little Switzerland and some of the walking is quite strenuous, but worth it.

Only downside, no bus stop nearby, which is a pain for us lazy m/homers who don't like to move.

We came to Channel view as our chosen site was not able to take us. £18 per night (2 Adults with a dog, no EHU) in the camping fields, )Pitch where you like) Very strong ground pegs required as ground is very stony. The field is also fairly exposed as well as being high up. We unfortunately had some wind and very cloudy weather which caused us to spend some nights in the pub next door to the site. The campsite has a shop selling basics, maps etc as well as both Calor & Camping Gas Exchange. The facilities, WC's Showers, Wash basins etc were very good as was the W/U area. However it does need a little TLC overall. From what we saw the caravan and EHU Tent pitches looked a good size with more wind protection than in the fields where we were. Very good walks from the site, but the climb up from Lynmouth to West Lynn is very steep.

Not much to add to the previous reviews except to mention that there is A VERY NICE PUB AND RESTAURANT NEXT DOOR!

Great joy as so often we are looking for pubs with campsites or vice versa and here is a gem, 'Beggars Roost'.

The pub has been closed but is now under new ownership and serves good beer and food.

Free WiFi is available from both the pub and the campsite.

We have just had 4 nights on this site and found it very relaxing,

The walking in the area is very good but you do need to be quite fit to walk down to Lynmouth, its quite steep! The views over the channel are quite stunning.

The pub next door, the Beggars Roost has just reopened and has a good range of Ales.

The grounds are very well kept and the toilet and shower areas are very clean, there is also a laundrette on site but we didn't use it so cant comment on the cost etc.

The facilities are very good, the only very small gripe would be that the showers only have about 15 seconds on the push button!

We spent 3 nights on this lovely little site. Very relaxed friendly atmosphere. The owners are lovely people who always have time for a chat. The site was very quiet when we were there, and although it was the beginning of October the weather was really warm and sunny. The views are stunning.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We visited the Lynhton / lynmouth railway, Watersmeet, and the local steam railway.

We had a lovely relaxed few days.

The showers were nice and warm, toilets clean. Completely adequate for what you need.

Thankyou Channel View for making us feel so welcome.

We stayed at this campsite for 7 nights in our tent on an electrical hook-up pitch. Over all we were very happy. Our tent is quite large but the pitches are spacious and there is a very relaxed feel from the managers. In the past we have stayed in places where there are constant reminders of the 'rules' everywhere, but there was none of that here. The little on site store is adequately stocked and the lady who runs it was very friendly and helpful. A couple of places where improvements could be made: The tumble dryers in the laundry room simply do not work well enough, which is a nuisance to discover when you've got a load of wet laundry to dry. Secondly, although the ablutions are kept clean, they are outdated and the taps are frustrating to use. That said, overall we were happy and impressed with the level of dog friendliness that the site offers, including an area where they can be walked off the lead. We will be back again next year as it is well maintained and run and is ideally located for Lynton and Lynmouth with excellent views and a good base site for some interesting walks.

Just got back from 12 nights at Channel View, brilliant site, very friendly, quiet, good facilities, if you are on the electric hookup field take with you some rock pegs. Toilets and showers were excellent, shop could have done with more fresh food and papers, and it is a shame the pub next door had closed down, because you need to drive to the next one. Walking the dogs excellent no roads just fields down to the coast (if you are fit). Could do with a bigger play area for the kids, only 2 swings in tent field. If you need a big supermarket i. E. Tesco about 20 miles away, otherwise there is a Costcutter in Lynton. The only thing was the weather which no-one can do anything about. We would go again

I recently camped at Channel View for 2 nights over a weekend with my small dog. I rang the site in advance as it was in the school holidays to check that they had room. I was asked whether I wanted a pitch with electric hook up and when I said no, I was told there was plenty of room.

Arriving on site, I had a pleasant welcome by the lady in the shop. She asked if I had been before and when I said it was 3 years ago, she said that nothing much had changed - which I think is a very fair statement and reflection on the facilities.

I was told that there was plenty of room in the overflow field and that both parts were open. When I arrived there was 1 tent in each part. I went for the larger part of the field and was glad that I did as several other parties had arrived by Saturday afternoon (but all went first thing on Sunday morning).

Although there were pitches marked around the edge, some groups camped in the middle, which didn't seem to be a problem.

The only negative things I would say was that both of the large groups had a dog which was allowed to run around. Although this didn't cause a problem, I felt that this was taking advantage of the relaxed attitude of the site owner. The rule about being quiet after 11pm also wasn't enforced and one of the groups continued to be noisy until the early hours. There is also a dog walk area on site, but unfortunately some people hadn't bothered to clear up after their dog.

Those minor gripes aside, I had a great weekend. The site is near footpaths. Lynmouth is walkable if you are prepared for the steep hill! The coast path has stunning views and you can also walk to Watersmeet inland.

The on site shop seemed to sell most things you might need, but the pub and hotel next door seemed to be closed.

The shower block and toilets were slightly dated, but clean, with plenty of hot water. The washing up area also had plenty of hot water.

I enjoyed my return visit and would love to go again. Don't go here if you want a very commercial site with children's playground, amusements and evening entertainment. Do go here for the relaxed atmosphere and views from the field.

Spent three nights here in May 2014. Great weather, great area. The site is only 5mins drive to both Lynton and Lynmouth with excellent views out to sea and local countryside. Very friendly owners and staff, very helpful, the sort of place where nothing is too much effort as long as you have a great time. Felt like we had a lot of freedom as the place is aimed at a more relaxing kind of holiday. Facilities are fine for what you need, plenty of toilets and showers. Plenty of electric hookup points. The site is very clean and tidy, with a fairly well stocked shop, although not too much in the way of fresh food, more frozen foods. There is a pub next door, although it never really looked open. One set of ageing swings so if your kids are in tow, you would need to make your own entertainment. Excellent value for money. Ideal to get away from it all. Would recommend!
