Just spent a fortnight at this site and were very pleased with our stay despite the weather being very wet and windy at times!

Most touring pitches are sloping and will need a couple of chocks to sort. We asked to have a different pitch than we were allocated as the slope was quite severe. This wasn't a problem and found one nearly flat ( Pitch No 12 ) Discovered on putting the awning up that the ground is very hard after a couple of inches and will require good rock pegs. They do sell them at the site shop - 99p each.

Friendly and accommodating site with not too many restrictions. One comment I would make would be that the site requires a few dog bins as we had to use the main bins for our pick ups.

Would definitely return again.

Have to say in all fairness we arrived here on sat of the May bank holiday in the rain and strong winds and continued to rain for most of our stay so from the start things were not that promising.

The welcome we received was friendly enough, and the site boasted a good little shop, cafe and a nice pub next door. Unfortunately we found the pitches to be quite small and that we were crammed in with other tents. We had just enough space to walk child and adult abreast between each tents lines.

Plenty of washing up and toilet facilities but very basic indeed and not overly clean, the rain didn't help but the floor was very wet and there seemed to be not manners from other campers eg mopping floor after showers or rinsing your dregs of washing up away.

All in all in was basic and served a purpose, wouldn't visit again but on a dry hot weekend it may be a totally different experience still squashed in though.

Have just returned from a long weekend at this excellent site. The showers and toilets were spotless even though the weather was awful with plenty of mud about.

The staff were great and the cafe was great value for well cooked food. The pub at the entrance to the site sells good food and good beer and the staff couldn't do enough for you, would have no hesitation of recommending this site to anyone.

If you enjoy walking in beautiful countryside this is the place with the Valley of the Rocks being breathtaking.

I was really impressed with this campsite and would definitely recommend. Pitch was nice and flat, toilets were always clean and the facilities were very good.

Two slight minor point are (1) the taps in the toilets spurted water out to fast and I got wet several times and (2)the field we were in was very exposed (but that didn't really bother us)

All in all we had a good stay and we would definitely go back next time we are in Exmoor.

We have just returned from the week at this site. We stayed on the top field, which is the one with the EHU's. You don't get the 'channel view' on this field, but all the other fields have the view. You can just walk to the next field for the view across the Bristol Channel to Wales (c.12 miles).

The facilities are excellent here. Full laundry room with:

- 2x washing machines (£2.00 per load)

- 2x driers (£1.00 for 40 minutes)

- 1x hand washing sink

- 1x iron / ironing board (20p)

The bathroom facilities are very good too, with private washing areas as well as (free)showers and hand sinks. The showers were lethally hot most of the time though, despite twice asking the warden to turn them down!

There is even a cold water dog shower! The site is very suitable for dogs by the way, so Fido will definitely be happy. Plenty of areas to walk them too. No charge for dogs, unlike 'Sunny Lyn' campsite down the road (£2.50 / night). Cheeky.

There is a well-stocked shop on site, and the prices are quite reasonable. Same with the on site cafe. Very good food. There is a pub within easy walking distance. Good Devonshire ales and ciders. Food is good but quite dear. You do get a decent size portion though.

The staff were very helpful at Channel View, and laid-back in their approach. With this site you do not get the 'everything-is-extra' attitude which seems to be the ethos of a lot of campsites these days.

The surrounding area is beautiful, very hilly though so be careful in planning your route if you have one of those dreaded caravans which block up our roads ;-)

All-told, an excellent site then. We will definitely be returning soon.

Lovely views across to Lynton and Lynmouth with beautiful walks with cream tea stops along the way. Campsite very clean and peaceful. There is a field for dogs to go in.

But what better way to start the day than with an English Breakfast served up in the cafe with plenty of toast and tea all for only £4 (excellent). Can't wait for my next mini-break.

The staff are very knowledgeable on walks in the area whether it be long or short and very helpful in every way.

Usually use Caravan Club Site or Camping and Caravan Club but to get a booking for Lynton for August Bank Holiday at short notice not possible.

Channel View confirmed they had space and would reserve a pitch for us. When we arrived the hard standing had been reserved, and staff very pleasant and forthcoming.

Pitch was fairly level with the advantage of its own tap. Electricity 16 amp so no problems there.

Showers were of the push button type, which is annoying and they are continually stopping and some kind camper had decided he needed his dirty pawed dog to view the palce as well. But the water was hot so 8 out of 10 for that.

Staff very helpful on walks. (saw afterwards that the pitch guide had footpaths on the back) so can get into Lynton and also Lymouth without walking the roads.

They do a superb breakfast. £4 for a fry up with toast butter marmalade and a pot of tea. 10/10. What was marvellous was a dog shower with hot water.

Check the weather, if windy consider another site.

We used this campsite as it was the 2nd closest to the towns of Lynton and Lynmouth. There is a good downhill walk from the site to Lynmouth and you can then walk though the town and take the train up the cliff to Lynton. Both towns have places to eat and good shops to look around etc. The Lynmouth flood of 1952 museum is worth a look.

We we told that we could just turn up at the site as there was lots of space and didn't know that we could pre-book. It turned out that the only spaces that were left were in the overflow field. This field was very exposed and if there is any wind in the area this is a very windy place to camp and even though our tent was well erected it was very noisy and hard to sleep with the constant flapping and movement of the tent. Other bookable parts of the site looked more sheltered so consider those. Showers, toilets, washing up facilities a bit dated but all clean and worked OK.

Shop sells gas which is handy and owners are pleasant and helpful. Excellent beer and food in pub next door.

This site was the first of 3 we visited on our annual camping holiday. We tried to choose sites near to the South West coast path.

This site was very well situated for our purpose. The Campsite staff were very friendly and helpful at this relatively small site. The pitches where split between those which were quite exposed but with good views and more sheltered ones. We were advised some of the pitches were closed due to weather conditions, and staff gave us a rundown of the advantages of certain pitches. The pitches were quite damp because of the weather, but we found a nice sheltered one.

The facilities are clean and well kept, with adequate showers and toilets and wash cubicles.

The campsite shop was quite basic but had the essentials. There was an on site cafe which unfortunately we did not get to use as we wanted to try it on our departure day, Monday. Sadly this is the only day that it was closed! It wasn't obviously advertised that this was the case. The pub next door was fantastic, with a lovely atmosphere and the best food, in a home cooked style that we had tasted for a long time, all with reasonable prices.

The campsite was quite a trek into Lynmouth / Lynton but manageable and worth the visit. The bus service was limited near to the site, and the nearest bus stop was around 15min walk away, but the buses serving this part where not that great anyway.

Overall a lovely site that we would visit again.

First and foremost, I would highly recommend this caravan site! Plus points: (a) Free hot showers/water, (b) great price (c) great location (d) pitches with own water supply (e)sea views (f) pub/hotel next door (g) well maintained / clean site (h) free hairdryers (i) great family wash room (j) lots of showers and toilets.

Negatives: (a) steep hair-pin bends surrounding the site! However to all you fellow caravanners, this should not cause you any problems if you avoid the A39 via Minehead / Porlock route, unlike us! (b) non-adjustable showers They are a good temperature but if you've managed to sunburn yourself during the day (ie, as I did!) and you want a more tepid shower, then this simply ain't possible! (c) annoying sink taps. They were the type that spray out tiny jets of water which I found made teeth cleaning a bit of an annoying task, but that's a completely niggling point and overall this caravan site was the bees knees! A+ from us!
