We stayed at Channel view for two nights.
The site is only accessible by the A39, which is extremely steep and winding.
It is relatively inexpensive, at £17 per night high season for tent and electric hookup.
There is a toilet block with free showers, plenty of toilets, and a washing up area. The cleanliness was slightly below average, although the actual toilets were obviously cleaned regularly. There were lots of spider webs and dirt on the walls -- general inattention to cleaning anything other than the toilets and sinks.
There was a recycling centre next to the toilet block. Oh, and a dog shower! There were the usual waste disposal facilities for caravans.
There is a shop on site, and a pub next door. The walk to Lynton is 1. 25 miles but it is extremely stereo and rocky.

Very friendly people. Useful shop selling great farm butter for your toast in the morning.
The camping field towards the static caravan site was semi-level and fortunately we took hard ground tent pegs, as we did need them.
The field was well kept, very quiet and we had the hookup and wifi we wanted.
Unfortunately the facilities were not of a good standard, quite unclean, outdated and full of cobwebs, mould. The cold water taps were so fierce you almost couldn't use them without getting soaked. The hot taps were extremely hot and too difficult to use for long.
Because of this we wouldn't stay again as we have had far better facilities for the same costs elsewhere. Sorry

Stayed one night as part of a short weekend in Devon. We love this area and keep coming back.
First time at this site. They are very welcoming and relaxed, we arrived late so just pitched up and paid the next morning. Had evening meal in the pub next door, good fish pie and beer, nice and cosy beside the log burner. (note: food only available until 9. 00 PM)
Lots of pitches to choose from and we opted for a view of the sea. Pleased by the provision of a hook up and fresh water tap by each pitch.
The toilet block was impressive, clean and well kept. Good family and disabled facilities too.
As well as the usual sanitation services they also have a drive-over grey waste point which is not always found in the UK.
Should also mention that they were relaxed bout us staying till late afternoon before departing so we were able to enjoy most of the day walking etc.

Booked in at late notice for a few days walking with my partner and dog. Site well situated to take in many excellent walks without much travel. Off a steep but good road for those towing
Camped in the Beggars Field. Reasonably sheltered, flat, well drained and grass short with no cuttings. A very good pitch but definitely needed the hard tent pegs!
Shop had a good range and seemed reasonably priced for the area. Pub was warm and welcoming. Meals looked nice but didn't eat there. Two local real ales were good.
Facilities were good, very clean and ample for the few days we were there. I assume they may struggle a little at peak season but that doesn't seem to be unusual in my experience.
Staff all very nice and helpful.
Acid test, would I return. Certainly but not in peak season. But my personal preference is for quiet sites.

Booked for one night only as a stop off between home & Cornwall. Found Channel View initially on this website, but then viewed on Google Earth - Looked OK.
What a pleasant surprise when we arrived - Beautiful & well appointed grounds, mostly level & spacious pitches, well stocked and reasonably priced shop with pleasant & helpful staff. But best of all a local pub (within 20 metres of site entrance) full of character offering an excellent choice of beers & food (Although we didn't eat there the generous portions looked & smelled lovely).
Due to a combination of seriously heavy rain (Flooded most of Devon) and the fact that we liked the site so much, we booked a second and even more enjoyable day/night.
Lovely but steep walk into Lynmouth (Taxi back reasonably priced @ £6. 00).
Despite not seeing either the site or locale at its best due to the torrential rain, we would definitely recommend and will definitely return (for longer stay).

Recently went to this campsite, unfortunatly for us very bad weather, but the tent stood up to it.
First impressions campsite ok, on closer inspection the toilet and shower block need a really good refurbishment. In places you could see where mould had been painted over.
Starting to look very old and tatty.
No play area for kiddies near to the tents, which was a pain, and when you did get to the play area it was just 2 swings.
Not very expensive to stay with hook up it was £14 per night.
Shop expensive but does have what you need, even tent pegs.
My advice would be if your staying here then make sure you have pegs for rocky ground because it was very rocky.
Very long steep roads to get to campsite, and narrow so drive carefully.
The lady in reception was very nice and helpful but I don't think I would come back. Sorry.

We stumbled upon this site after originally deciding on another site nearby and after I had done my obligatory toilet/shower block check there, we had hastily driven away from!
Without a booking, we were told we could camp in the overflow field or the smaller field next to it. In my mind, the overflow field has the best views and for peak season was very quiet. One night we were joined by a large Dutch walking group for whom the 3m rule between tents was not abided to and we could hear all the goings on in the tent right next to ours!
The toilet/shower block is showing its age and a little tatty around the edges, however it was clean.
The pub next door was good, local beers & cider & the food looked good. The shop was well stocked.
The only niggle I had with the site was the lack of a serviceable hairdryer or a facility to use your own hair styling equipment. The hairdryer in the main ladies showers was broken with a sign saying to use the one in the family shower, there was no mirror in the family area, and that hairdryer blew out cold air.
Lots of great walks from the campsite. Lynmouth & Lynton are lovely with some lovely shops & cafes. Do be warned that some of the cafes/restaurants close as early as 7! There is a Londis & Costcutter in Lynton for groceries. We would stay here again.

Just returned from this wonderful campsite after a three night stay. The staff was extremely friendly and very helpful. The site was well laid out, a little sloping in places bit none too much to worry about. As for the price it was very good for what you get for your money, the showers and toilets was fine and it had a little shop and cafe at the entrance to the park. Some of the pitches had wonderful sea views out over lynton and lynmouth and some of the pitches was in a shelterd area with electric hook up points and water and waste nearby. There is a pub at the entrance to the park and it very nice and fairly busy during the evenings serving excellent food. The cafe was inexpensive too and served all day breakfast till 6. Pm. All in all had a wonderful time there and will be returning again in a few weeks, and again next year. Considering the price of all the other sites in the area, a full 10 out of 10 for this little campsite and value for your money.

I spent a weekend on this site. They weren't very busy, so I was given a map of the site and told the various parts of the site where I could pitch my tent. I chose part of the tents only overflow area, as at the time it was empty (although 3 other groups also chose this field later on). The ground seemed very stony and I bent a lot of my pegs, but apart from that, it was a great location and very peaceful.
There was a dog walking area which was useful and the field above it had wonderful views. There were 2 swings, which looked as if they had been there a long time, so I wouldn't choose this site if you were looking for a lot of entertainment for children (unless they are good at providing their own).
The washing up facilities were fine, as were the toilet and shower block. The water in the showers was quite hot - again maybe something to be aware of if you have children, but there were plenty of toilet and shower cubicles which were cleaned daily.
I didn't use the shop or cafe, but visited the pub next door. The beer was expensive, but the service was friendly and there was a good choice of food. The convenience was the main reason for going there and the garden was sunny in the early evening.
There were a few ways to walk to Lynmouth from the campsite - all involving a very steep hill on the return. The quickest route I found to walk back took me 30 minutes. There are plenty of footpaths from the campsite onto the coast path and around, so a great location for walking.
I would definitely return to this site.

Stayed mid week in June. It was a very peaceful site and we were given the choice of where we wanted to pitch. The field with the best view was rather exposed and as it was very windy we pitched elsewhere.
The facilities were very good, lots of clean toilets, clean showers, washing up and laundry facilities. The showers were quite scalding at first but after running a while seemed to cool down a bit. The taps in the sinks were a bit of a pain shooting water out everywhere.
The on site cafe was great, lovely food and there is a pub next door with good food, although a little expensive.
