This is a lovely, friendly site with great toilet and washing facilities - it even has a couple of family bathrooms which were invaluable with our 2 small children. We recommend paying the on-site cafe a visit - the fare is simple but freshly prepared and portions are generous. The area is fantastic and we'd recommend a visit to the beach at Lee Abbey (go into Lynton, through the Valley of the Rocks and along the toll road). Lots of rock pools and there is sand at low tide. Other attractions are Watermouth Castle outside Coombe Martin - its a full days entertainment for the family and you can revisit at a substantially reduced cost. We will definitely revisit this site

Loved it. Well managed by a family, clean & tidy Toilets / shower blocks every day for cleaning. Family bathrooms with baby changing facilities: clothes washers and dryers. All the mod cons you would have at home. Very friendly and helpful. That just about says it all.

This is a nice site, although the tent pitching field was slightly uphill, it didn't really bother us that much as it was a slight incline. The site amenities were excellent, with two family bathrooms, one with a bath and one with two showers. They didn't make us leave a deposit for a key, they were free for everyone. All the showers were free (no putting in 20p and rushing!). The shop had everything you could need, and the cafe did a really good breakfast for a few quid, and as many cuppas as you can drink. I didnt realise that the site is called Channel View as it overlooks the Bristol Channel, the views reallly were splendid. A good base for the area, and I recommend you see the lynmouth & lynton raft race if ever you visit, (end of july) it was the maddest thing I have seen, I wont tell you what its all about, you have to see to believe.!

Stayed right at the end of the month, arriving the day after the bank hol. Fantastic first impressions. Could choose anywhere we wanted, and settled on the lower tent field. There are 3 tent areas, the top: near the toilets and popular. Not as much choice of spaces due to popularity and location. The lower field is smaller, but with better views and more room to spread out. There is also a third field, the largest, which is used for peak times only. This can be sloping but shouldn't be a problem. It has the best view, so nothing to complain about. The owners are really friendly, and will do everything they can to help. The shop is good and has all that you need. Personally a fantastic site, and the best for seeing the area.

This is the 3rd visit to Channel View this year and we love it. We always join friends here for a weekend and have a great time. Staff and owners really friendly and now know us well and nothing is ever too much trouble. Facilities plentiful. Ladies 5 showers, private wash cubicle, family shower room and family bathroom available. So many loo's I haven't even counted. Washing up sinks under cover. Hot water to all facilities is free. Small shop on site, also a cafe that do great breakfast this is always our last morning treat before we set off home! Pub next door. Good atmosphere, friendly staff, food good and reasonably priced. Does get busy in the evenings if the weather isn't too good. The views from the site are excellent, lots of walking routes directly accessed from site but be prepared for the long and extremely steep walk back up!

This was our first ever camping trip so we were a bit unaware of what to expect. When we arrived, we were given a choice of 4 pitches to choose from, the owners were very helpful and we found the shop well stocked with the bits and bobs we needed.
The pitch we were given was slightly sloping (I mean really slightly), but within easy reach of the amenities. The toilets and showers were clean but the water was really hot, we spoke to the owner and he turned the thermostat down for us. The family shower room is a godsend! Big enough for all three of us to shower, it even had a low shower in it for our 6 yr old.
Just one thing, don't put an underwired bra in the washing machine, it puches the wires out!
I loved it here, the views were lovely, the local area all around is great with loads to see and do. Would recommend 9/10

Stayed here for our last night of traveling around Cornwall and north Devon. Nice site but the the field we were in was sloping and a bit lumpy. The owner was very friendly and chatty, even if we couldnt understand everything he said! The toilets and showers are dated and a bit grubby. They could do with updating. Also the water started off too cold and ended up being way too hot to stand under.
There is a shop and cafe and a handy pub next door which serves nice food. There are plenty of walkes you can do from the site but as we were only there one night we didnt get to do any of them but the views were nice.

Fantastic, relaxing site with welcoming friendly owners! We only decided to go camping at 6pm on the Friday of the BH weekend so were a little limited for choice.
Channel View has an overflow tent field and they don't take bookings for the majority of it. Parts of the field are slightly sloping but the views across the Bristol Channel to S. Wales more than make up for it.
No fancy facilities, but free showers and a very reasonable pub (for South prices) adjacent to the site all for £11pn for a tent +2 +car.

This is a very nice site in a fab location it is on a slight slope so be prepared for balancing items. The people who own / run the site are very helpful and friendly and the shop / cafe had all we needed for 4 days.
One of the reasons we chose the sight is that they had a childrens play area but apparently they took it out when it was damaged so it's no longer there.
The showers / toilets are cleaned a couple of times a day they were acceptable but need lots doing to them, little things like locks on doors falling off, mould on walls from condensation, only one soap dispenser and one hand dryer. There always seemed to be hair on the shower floor, showers are hotter at night than in the morning because of the amount of people showering in the morning. There was a shelf to put things and a hook but the shelf was always soaking wet and nowhere clean and dry to stand.
The washing up area is just outside the ladies shower block it is enclosed it is a bit awkward to get your bowl under the tap wrong taps fitted to sinks and you hold them down there is no delay on them. Fairly hot water though.
There is a launderette which looked ok but we didn't use it. The pub next door is very pleasant if a little over priced. Overall we had a good trip but we won't go back purely as there are so many other sites to check out.

August 2005 Hang on a minute! Are the previous reviewers talking about the same site, or was the cleaner on Holiday? I agree, the view was excellent and the position was great for access to local villages and the countryside, however the facilities fell well short on cleanliness. On the week we were there, the washing machine and tumble dryer didn't work, and the showers / sinks / toilets only seemed to get cleaned once a day. The showers were very cold and drippy, however the kitchen sinks were good and rubbish recycling was agood idea. I think the bottom field for tents should be terraced better to provide flatter pitches, overall 6 out of ten.
