We had a fantastic time at Pennymoors, it was a shame we didn't go a week earlier to get the glorious weather we had.
Site was well maintained and it appears that pitch rotation goes on here as I didn't see any pitch that were lacking grass. Some pitches are on a bit of slope. Our pitch had 2 sink holes (description by the OH) which meant certain areas of the tent we uneven, but as the area is quite hilly I don't think many sites can boast flat pitch IMO.
Facilities were always clean, I never queued for shower, toilet etc.
The on site shop stocked the basic bits and bobs you need and also had lovely fresh loafs of bread each day, quite expensive at £1. 70 but it made lovely toast and sandwiches so we didn't mind.
The kids loved the play park and spent many evenings playing while we cooked dinner and had a beer.
Easy access to many areas of South Devon and will defo be heading here again

The site is easy to find. Fabulous pitches and facilities. The toilets and showers are equal to 5* hotel. Plenty of room and facilities for children to play safely although we did not have any.
Very helpful and cheerful owner/warden with a great sense of humour.
Conveniently placed for visiting all areas of Devon.
All in all we had a lovely week staying at this site. Hope to visit again as I can't speak too highly of this site.

We stayed here over the May bank holiday as our first outing in our trailer tent purchased over the winter. We were rather nervous staying with two small children.
We could not have chosen a better site as the facilities whilst being simple, were perfectly clean, tidy, and the staff very helpful and friendly. We were sited right next door to the play area for the children who spent the next two days playing and making friends. Washing facilities very clean and tidy, and when I had a problem attaching my gas bottle to our stove the owners helped by lending me the required tool.
The shop on site is well stocked with provisions. The site here does not allow bikes / scooters / skateboards on site. Handy sited for nearby kingsbridge and the posher Salcombe
I would recommend this site for families with kids between 4-12. Plus being comfortably cheaper than elsewhere this is a bargain.

An outstanding example of great value for money! Stayed here for a short break with our two granddaughters (aged 5 and 9 years) who had never been camping before. I was so impressed with the friendly and helpful welcome, size of pitch and the general upkeep of the site. The South Hams area is also wonderfully unspoilt and uncrowded in peak season compared to nearby Torbay.
Pennymoor is located a fair way down a narrowish lane off the main Modbury to Dartmouth road so if you are towing a caravan you will need to take extra care but don't let it put you off as this site is a real gem
We were thoughtfully pitched very close to the playpark and toilet block and while this was great for keeping an eye on the girls and closeness of the loos much appreciated by all, the compromise is it could get quite noisy during the late afternoon and evening in peak season. I was however further impressed by the 10pm curfew being strictly maintained. There was sadly a very unsocial family on the site and the adults thought it OK to drink and play out their tiffs and problems in the park after dark, but within 10 mins of the curfew the night security watchman moved them on and they did not come back. Well done for this and for enforcing the 10pm rule.
The small shop and take away is lovely with all the essentials plus yummy bacon rolls, fresh home made bread, pasties and cakes etc. And fish & chips to order on some nights. Tea and coffee served too so you can grab a refreshing cuppa while you are pitching rather than having to wait to get the camp stove set up.
The site provides everything you need for a proper family camping holiday, no club or money traps just a lovely safe place for the kids to play outside in the fresh air, beautiful views over to Dartmoor and at £18 a night for our tent, 2 adults and 2 kids plus hook up in the peak season is totally affordable and amazing value. We all wanted to stay longer and will have no hesitation in doing so next year.
The grandgirlys have already told us we have to go back there!

We've just come back from a week in Cornwall, and as the weather was so good, we tacked a couple of nights on to the beginning here, also to break up the journey.
On arrival the staff were very helpful and directed us to a pitch exactly adjacent to the play area saying not to worry, as there is a 10pm noise curfew. We were told that we had been moved up here as the lower field was waterlogged. As we have two small children this location was ideal, I could sit and read whilst keeping an eye on them. The play equipment itself was all quite new and of excellent quality - the kids loved it.
The top end of the field is quite steeply sloping though, so not suitable for tents.
I was a little concerned as there was still much screaming coming from the play equipment at well gone 9pm while ours were going to sleep, but by 9. 45 all was quiet.
As has been mentioned before, the toilet block is excellent - well cleaned, plenty of showers and hot water. The shop is reasonably priced and open 8am-8pm.
Bigbury-on-sea is a short drive (and an expensive car park) away, but other than that there is not a great deal to do in the immediate area if the weather is pants. Modbury (5 min drive) has a chemist and co-op.
I would not hesitate to recommend this site, especially for the price.

Just returned from a 2 week stay at this gem of a site. Superbly placed for many wonderful beaches and other attractions in the South Hams. It's a quiet site with mainly level or slightly sloping pitches.
The children's play area although small is well used and a 10 o'clock curfew is strictly enforced. It has an adequate shop selling all the basics. Toilet and shower facilities are excellent and cleaned on a regular basis.
This was our second year here for myself and my two children both of whom wanted me to book again on our return home. It now has a reliable wifi service (£24 for 2 weeks to a month).
At £18 per night for our large tent and hookup it's an absolute bargain. If only all sites were this affordable.
We were lucky to get 10 days of sun starting the day of our arrival. Will be there again next year.

Have just returned from 2 weeks at Pennymore. On arrival we were given a choice of field and opted for the one, away from the main field. Although the grass hadn't been cut, which was not a problem, we were alone, which gave us wonderful peace and quiet and was not too far away from the main facilities. We found the staff to be both friendly and helpful, but the highlight was the on-site shop & cafe, run by Jim and his wife, who we enjoyed having daily conversations with. Every Saturday Jim will cook you fish & chips and his egg & bacon baps are to die for! As for the facilities, they are spotless and well maintained.

First time I have left a review but wanted to praise this site.
It is a really lovely site, immaculately clean and well kept.
We have just returned from a weekend in the school holidays and whilst it was busy, there was plenty of space and it was quiet which with 2 small children going to bed earlier was ideal. Large pitches did not feel confined.
Toilet/shower facilities were very clean and no queues.
The shop is well stocked and open daily from 8am - 8pm and is reasonably priced.
Our children only used the play park once however it was well received and well used by others.
Staff very friendly and very helpful.
Would definitely recommend and will return.

We were a bit dubious about this site, as it was jubilee weekend and half term, we paid 18pn for a large tent 2 adults 2 children with ehu, so thought there must be something wrong. How wrong were we. The grounds are immaculate as were the toilet and shower facilities. We were pitched in the lower field which is away from the playground, however this wasn't a real issue. Perfect location for all neighbouring towns good pub food served in the white hart pub in modbury, paid for wifi for a week which was £12. The only thing that could have been an issue was that bikes were not allowed on site, but luckily my son had made lots of friends and was quite happy at the playground. Would return and recommend.

This was our first visit to Pennymoor and we shall definitely be back again. The site was set in lovely countryside and very well presented.
The children's play area had obviously been updated this year and our children had a great time playing in a safe environment.
The toilet/shower blocks were immaculate. There was an indoor area to wash-up in - great if the weather is not too good!
The owners were very friendly also.
We have been to many sites and this was definitely one of the best and I would highly recommend it.
