Just returned from a week here and can't fault it. Facilities spotless, and unlimited hot water - no having to feed 20ps into the shower to make it work. Very friendly and quiet, ideal for families. Children loved the small play area. V. Heavy rain whilst we were there causing some flooding on the roads, but pleased to say the water drained quickly on the site.

Great base for exploring the local area - loved the beach at Bigbury. Will return.

This is the third time we have visited this site but will definitely not be the last.

We love the peaceful and friendly atmosphere, the well stocked and reasonably priced shop and the spotlessly clean toilet blocks.

We have pitched in various parts of the site. In torrential rain in 2008 we did have some flooding in the tent when we pitched in the upper field. This year, we were on one of the new electric hook-up pitches in the lower field and despite lots of rain, the tent stayed completely dry. (Any worries about the car not making it up the hill were unfounded.) We loved the fact that, even in peak season, we practically had the field to ourselves - lots of room for the children to play.

We thought the trek to Tesco at Lee Mills was worthwhile for larger grocery shops. (Ignore SatNav telling you to use the tiny lanes - stick to the big roads because it takes the same time!)

We especially enjoyed a day out at Morwellham Quay (near Tavistock - about 45mins drive but worth it) and our walk from Bigbury to Burgh Island.

Have just spent a very enjoyable week at this site.

The wardens are friendly and helpful and there is a great little shop which has most of what you need and you can also order papers. The statics are on a hill with glorious views across to Dartmoor although it was covered in cloud for most of the week! Looked in the toilet block as we are also tent campers and it all looked very clean and well equipped.

This is a lovely area. The beach at Bigbury on sea is great for everybody and the car park is practically on the beach. Dartmouth and Salcombe are busy interesting towns on picturesque river estuaries. Went to the Ferry inn in Salcombe and had a great seafood platter, sitting in the sunshine watching the boats go by. Will definitely come here again.

What a lovely site. Everything stated in previous reviews is spot on. We stumbled upon this site by chance when touring South Devon and visiting Bigbury last week and wished we had found it earlier on our trip. Excellent value for money, spotless toilets and showers, everything as you would want it to be. We shall certainly return and use it as our base for touring the area again.

Another great Whitsun week holiday - see my previous reviews.

This my wife was taken on a tour of available pitches on a golf buggy before being allowed to select her favourite.

A new roundabout in the kids playground has replaced the rather aged wooden one and our boys loved it.

All previous comments still apply - can't wait for next years fix of yum-yums and fish and chips!

What a fantastic site, we only stayed one weekend but it is perfect. Went over to Bigbury On Sea for a day which was great. Make sure you visit The Bay Cafe in Bigbury On Sea, just above the car park, outstanding little cafe, with great views and food.
The campsite staff were hospitable, the toilets and showers spotless. Our pitch was quiet and clean. Spacious and friendly. Perfect weekend away.

This is a wonderful campsite, large and clean toilet facilities, a lovely little play area for the kids. Lovely friendly and welcoming staff. Shop is open from 8 - 8 and has fresh bread etc every morning. We had a wonderful time in the good old British weather - it didn't stop us going to many of the little beaches everywhere where the kids loved body surfing and making sandcastles. Plenty to do on really wet days too.

This campsite is well worth staying at and we will be there again next year.

I agree with the previous review - we stayed for 5 nights and its a little gem. The toilet / shower blocks were clean with hot water at no extra charge, there is a laundry room, a shop, a kids play area, bins emptied regularly and all at a very good price. How camping should be. There was no on site entertainment either so it was fab. Will definitely return.

The nearest beach at Bigbury-on-Sea - 5ish miles away has lovely sand and great for kids - the sea is shallow and not shelved like it is at Blackpool Sands and the walk across to Burgh Island when the tide out is good and easy too. There is a huge Tesco at Lee Mill (just outside Ivybridge) which we visited many times - it is a bit of a drive but if you need things like extra pillows /spare clothes it is a godsend.
There are lots of places / things to do all within a drive away, we visited Newton Ferrers / Noss Mayo (good Pubs in the estuary), Mothecombe with its former school room now a tea / icecream shop, Ivybridge (gateway to Dartmoor) Kingsbridge, Salcombe and Outbecks House (National Trust), Blackpool Sands and Bigbury. We ran out of time for anything else! We had a great time, not bad weather, and will surely return.

This is how a campsite should be, absolutely wonderful. A warm welcome we were shown to our pitch and made to feel welcome. Two of our neighbours sited their caravans all year and I can see why. The site facilities were clean and checked on the hour. This was a great holiday for my family never mind the weather it rained every day! British summer time fantastic ... The bins on site were always tidy and emptied daily. So to sum up good value good facilities good family site handy little shop and a nearby petrol station and pub at California cross

We updated our tent for a better model and had some friends who were first time campers with a new tent, so we all decided to nip somewhere close to home for the night and try the tents out. We checked this website out first (as we always do)for reviews of sites in our area and found Pennymoor. A really lovely site!we pitched our tents together in the bottom corner, near the bottom toilet block. Only a small site, but 2 toilet/shower blocks. They were absolutely spotless! we didn't bring food but at reception they had take-away menus for Modbury places that delivered to the site so we got some curries delivered. The kids had fish and chips from the site cafe. Nice hot water available to wash up.Modbury is only 5 mins drive away and has some nice shops, pubs etc.

The kids enjoyed the small play area.

After pitching, we discovered there was another ajoining field below us which was almost deserted and looked lovely, next time we will pitch in that part.

Had a slight problem with music playing late at night but it seemed to be coming from the campsite next door.

We didn't use the showers as we were so close to home that we went home grungy and then had showers!

Would definitely visit this site again!
