Back from a wonderful stay at this camp site.

Very helpful Staff on arrival, with member of staff to take you to pitch and check it is to satisfaction. Really impressed with all facilities- clean and well maintained.

Overall a bargain of a camp site with rates some of the best we have come across and at least £10 cheaper than other sites nearer the coast. The location is ideal for exploring this part of the country, lots to see and do for the family, and an enormous variety of beaches to visit.

If in tent, try to pitch on flatter ground as when it rains, water drains down towards camping area.

Also be aware that bikes are not allowed on site, which did disappoint my children.

Overall, would strongly recommend this to others.

We have just returned from a week at Pennymoor. What a wonderful time we had. Plenty of room for our 7m tent. Very dog friendly which these days is rare. Lovely clean showers and toilets and best of all no rowdy teenagers. Lovely peaceful site with no blaring club house and beautiful views with Bigbury beach not far and easy routes to Kingsbridge, Plymouth and Dartmoor.

Shop very well stocked with gorgeous pastry smells in the morning and very friendly staff. Would I come back again. Certainly as this is my 39th year coming. Apart from new shower blocks nothing has changed since I was 8 and that is that is what makes me return. Wonderful memories. Now I bring my grandchildren here.

We have just returned from 12 nights at this site and cannot speak highly enough of it. We were warmly greeted upon arrival and shown to our pitch, the facilities pointed out to us and offers of help extended should we need it by one of the wardens.

We were on the lower field - unfortunately on a bit of a slope - just a challenge, not a set back my husband informed me! The site is well located, peaceful, very well looked after and extremely friendly.

There are numerous leaflets in the Reception of nearby attractions. My son's favourite was Dart Rock in Buckfastleigh - a fantastic newly built climbing wall with the most patient instructors I have ever come across.

My husband and son went Geo - caching around Modbury and had a great time - apparently there are lots of sites around the area! The couple in the shop were always very cheery and put in very long hours but nothing was ever too much problem - when I mentioned we had had a problem with late night noise, it was dealt with swiftly, discreetly and successfully!

The lady in Reception not only explained how to get to Cadover Bridge - but gave handwritten - and spot -on ! - directions to my teenage son. We have used many Caravan and Camping Club sites, but this sites surpasses them in every way! We are so pleased to have found the site and can't wait to return.

As I have said before, I like to update reviews as sites often change owners, introduce new rules, remove or add facilities etc. Therefore forgive another review of one of our favourite sites in the UK.

Since my last review nothing has changed. See my previous reviews. This really is a gem of a site, in a beautiful area and everything you need and nothing you don't.

We enjoyed another fantastic Spring Bank Holiday week with only one wet day. The toilets and showers are spotless with endless free hot water.

The warden and shop staff make the site. They can't do enough for you and if you ever go, try the fish and chips, the freshly delivered pastries every morning (except Sundays and Bank Holidays) and stay for a chat!

We'll be back in August for a week and can't wait.

This was our second visit to Pennymoor and we did the same as last year ie. arrive bank holiday Monday just as the weekend hordes left.

Stayed 5 nights over half-term on a half empty site and couldn't recommend it enough. The staff are always welcoming, friendly and helpful. Even with add-ons for dog / hookup the daily rate is very good bearing in mind how well kept the site is, the clean loo blocks, the views and the pastries in the shop (get there later than 08:30 and they'll all be gone!)

As per the previous entry, we pitched at the top of the lower field and had the very wet night, but the the remainder of the week was stunning. We spent most of our time on Bigbury beach with kayaks etc, and had a few great pints in the Pilchard Inn on Burgh Island. Dart Meet is always worth a visit, as is Dartmouth for crabbing off the quayside.

Shop at the large Tescos at Lee Mill or Sainburys on the way into Dartmouth.

Ok site. They tend to pack them in a bit though to close for me. Also drainage is poor when it rains expect surface water and streams running under your tent or as our friends through it. On closer examination that grass that only grows around marshes grows here so it must get wet and stays wet. Lower field is a good games field which will used for family rounders. Toilets were clean and tidy and seem to work with a busy site. Ideally placed for bigbury etc. Probably wouldn't go back due to risk of flooding and pitch sizes.

Our first visit to this site in a brand new tent. Wardens were welcoming and gave us a choice of a few pitches. We chose one at the top of the lower field. Not too far from the clean & tidy wash block. Plenty of hot water. Shower cubicles would benefit from a couple more hooks to hang up clothes, towels & toilet bags.

We had a lovely view from our pitch out over the sloping field. It rained heavily one night but the ground didn't become sodden.

There was a small play area & a well-stocked shop.

The site is located in beautiful countryside, with the inevitable narrow Devon country lanes, but they weren't a problem.

We visited Bigbury, Burgh Island, climbed some tors on Dartmoor, walked the coastal footpath at Wembury and had a wonderful half term week.

Would love to come back again.

The road to the site is fairly narrow in places, but there were lots of passing places.

Because it wasn't busy we were able to choose any pitch, although the park wardens did tell us that when it's busier the owners like to keep the caravans nearer the main facilities and the tents further down the site.

We had a gently sloping pitch near the play area which was great as we could relax and keep an eye on the kids playing at the same time.

The shower and toilet blocks were nice and clean as was the washing up facility.

The shop was well stocked, (we only forgot cooking oil), and the fish and chips was very tasty, although the portions were very big. A Child's portion would be big enough for most people.

Maybe it was the time of year, but when we went to Bigbury, it did seem uncared for with lots of litter, and as dog walkers could use the whole beach still, there was a lot of dog mess around the beach and paths leading up to it.

As we only had 2 nights there we didn't explore much more, but we found the site was very handy for Dartmoor too.

Would we go back? probably not any time soon, but that's mainly because there are many other sites in the area we haven't tried yet, and not because there's anything wrong with Pennymoor.

Me and my wife went to this site for 5 days and ended up staying another 2 days, this is a lovely and friendly site. We could not believe how big this site is and not bad prices either. We paid £14 a night with electric hook-up. If you can help it do not go at the bottom of the first field, left hand side near the thatch village, the crows or ravens make a right racket and mess of your tents.

We had the fish and chips from the shop of site and they were ok apart from I do not like frozen chips, the shop is not bad for your daily stuff like eggs, bacon, bread, things like that, the eggs I had from there had all double yokes

The shower’s and toilets was extremely clean at all times.

We found tesco’s which is just 3miles from camp site, Coop same, there is loads to do and see.

The other down fall we found was the ground is uneven and no water taps near by apart from the near the toilets at entrance as you go in.

Other than that thumbs up for this site

This campsite was great we booked with little notice,on arrival we were greeted with a friendly and warm welcome. We could pick our spot where we wanted to pitch our tent.I got the car stuck and was taken on the back of a quad bike across to another field to find another pitch nothing to much trouble for the staff. With 3 fields available there was plenty of room for everybody and lots of electric hook ups available and a little play area for the children.

The toilet and shower block were just spotless the showers very hot the staff were just great. The little shop on camp was simple but had all essentials Bidbury beech had everything for the kids nice safe beech and rock pools for crabbing. The whole family gave it the thumbs up and would go back again next year for sure Lee (Wilts )
