This is our 5th time in the last 7 years. We usually go away June or September.
What a fabulous week! We were extremely lucky with the weather, which always helps but there is nothing to complain about with this site. Our 3 bedroomed caravan was absolutely spotless as usual and fully equipped, even a toilet roll (some sites don't supply this!) The whole site was immaculate, the play area has new equipment which is lovely and the kids loved the outdoor tennis table! It occupied them for hours! Even adults were enjoying a match or two! We always go for a walk around as our family also camp here and as usual the toilets and showers were spotless, I was surprised at how many tourers were in for the time of year. The staff are so friendly even if they are busy, they always have time to stop and chat. As usual we will return. Have found nothing to beat this site, the tranquillity, cleanliness, value for money and a safe environment for the children. The Ship Inn Ugborough (having just won Pub of the year) is fantastic, great food and character only 10 mins away, bar meals also good. Loddiswell Inn about 5/10 mins drive in the other direction is also good value. Even the chinese in Modbury delivers!

Upon arrival, the site looked lovely with beautiful flower beds and lush green grass. The reception staff were welcoming and led us to our pitch.
The site felt very peaceful and the children all meet on the little play area every day which is lovely. The toilets were ok, and the showers were a bit cramped but quite clean. When we set up our awning, we realised that we had been placed on a very soggy pitch.
The weather had been a bit wet, but nothing too bad so this was suprising. However, as the week went on and we had a few heavy rain storms, the pitch got very waterlogged and all our stuff had to be taken off the groundsheet as it was continually flooded.
The drainage on site was very bad, and we could see a shallow river running through the site that happened to go straight through our awning. Both caravans either side of us were affected too.
Apart from the flooding and drainage problem, we thought it was charming and would have returned if it wasn't for this.
The static vans seem very reasonably priced and I would consider returning to stay in one of these.
Beaches nearby are wonderful and there are beautiful walks too. There are some lovely little towns and villages, so the location is good.

Just got back from spending five days at Pennymore campsite and what a campsite !
Very friendly staff and very clean & tidy ( Toilet block cleaned everyday ), well stocked shop too ( open 8am to 8pm ! ).
Got a choice of various pitches when arrived.
Dog run was ample and there seemed to be plenty to keep kids occupied too with a nice playground.
Its a bit off the main roads but the benefits are there are no road noise.
Would recommend to anyone with tents, caravans & statics & will return again soon. Thankyou Pennymore.

We stayed on this site for 12 nights - 2 adults and children aged 8 and 12. I took ages to choose a site and to be honest, mostly went for this one because it was reasonably priced but still had a shop and laundrette. We paid £16 per night without EHU and didn't get charged extra despite our tent being pretty big.
The site was much bigger than I expected, with 3 fields. We went on the lower one, as it was a lot less noisy. Most of the families with small children opt for the main field. The field sloped but you can find reasonably level ground at the bottom. The only disadvantage was the uphill walk to the toilets. My children found the playground a bit basic and lost interest after a day.
The newer toilet block that was closer for us was always clean and well looked after. The staff were very helpful too but left you alone. I was impressed that I was taken on a tour of the site on the buggy and allowed to choose where we would like to pitch.
We didn't find any decent pubs to eat at. The California Cross was a bit upmarket and expensive for us. However, you can order fish and chips on Weds and Sats from the shop on site.
Great location for exploring South Devon. My children loved the beach at Bigbury on Sea, lots of rock pools at low tide and we had a great day out at Agatha Christie's holiday home. All in all, very impressed with this one.

Have visited this site with the kids over the years(20) with both caravans and tents. Also used a static. This site has never let us down.
Clean tidy with a friendly management team. I would recommend to familys. The not so young and sensible over 24s its a great site.
Turn right out of the gate and drive, just go straight and in 10 mins or so you will be on an excellent beach. Turn left out of the gate in a few mins you are in southern cross. The local pub 'california' it offers food.
Not cheep I have to say and the bar food is basic. Steak chips peas £16. Back in near by Modbury there are several other eating houses though better priced.
All in all a good safe site run by people who care. Try it! What more can I say.

We stayed here on our first family camping trip and it was a great site.
We were pitched close to the toilets and play park which was great for our 1 and 4 year old. Toilets and shower facilities were excellent and kept clean. On site shop had a good range of convenience items and for small charge, froze cooler packs.
Is an excellent base for visiting local attractions, Plymouth and South Hams area. Very Friendly and reliable staff were always on hand.

We have just returned from a week's holiday at the Pennymoor Camping and Caravan site and we were very impressed. We chose this site due to previous reviews and its close location to our family as we were visiting for a family party.
We found the staff very friendly when originally making the booking over the telephone.
A very clean and well maintained site. Very large pitches.
Immaculate toilets and shower facilities.
All in all a great week away and we would stay again when we come to the area again.

Just returned from a 4 day break at 'Pennymoor' and to be frank thoroughly enjoyed my experience. The staff were polite, helpful and made the break easier. The pitch was on a slope, which was a disadvantage, but wasn't that bad.
The toilet facilities were excellent although the ones in the lower field were better than the top ones and we all ended up using the lower ones. Everything was immaculate and the staff were so helpful the shop was great and had fresh cakes and bread E.T.C every single morning.
The children's park is excellent and kept the kids entertained for hour. The quiet by 10pm is wonderfully enforced as at 10pm the children were sent back to there accommodation. The dog walk is great and was respected. I can't say a bad word about this campsite, because if I did it would be a lie!
There is a mop and bucket for you to briefly clean the shower area after using and that was respected as all of the people used it.
The local area is wonderful, the beach at Bigbury was wonderful and there was a nice little pub called 'The Pilchards Inn' Burgh Island also sources some nice walks and on the island is a variety of views etc etc.
I would advise this campsite for anyone at all as it is lovely and I was very sad to leave!

This was our second visit to this site, and it has hardly changed at all, which is very good indeed.
In my view this is an ideal site for families. It is a large site, but safe with a small park for the children and a shop that sells amongst other things sweets and small toys.
The toilet and shower facilities were always clean even on the busy bank holiday when we stayed. There is also a laundry for guests.
The staff are always friendly, and even got us booked in ahead of schedule as our pitch was free on the morning of arrival.
The site is ideally situated for Bigbury-on-Sea, Bantham, Modbury, Kingsbridge and Salcombe. Even Plymouth and Dartmouth are well under an hour away.
All in all a great site, and one which I am more than happy to attend.

Just returned from a soggy fortnight - not the sites fault as this was spotless (most of the time!)
The facilities at the top of the first field were mostly spotless, occasionally muddy from previous users but a mop and bucket outside the showers would help with this! I wasn't over struck on the newer block at the bottom of the field as users didn't seem to respect this block as much as the top one.
Shop good, laundry room and indoor washing up area were great, and much appreciated. Plenty of hot water in all areas at all times of day.
Was very wet outside of our tent and just under the tent by entrance - 'Jelly' feel to ground by day 11 but we cant help the weather! Site was busy but didn't have to queue once for showers, always free, but by the bank holiday weekend a lot more visitors arrived and this may have changed
Visited Woodlands Adventure park this was great and had something for everyone - my kids 11 and 15 but we all found something to ride
Also visited River Dart country park - did enjoy this but would probably suit families with younger
Children as would appeal to them more
