We have just returned from a 5 night stay at Watergate Bay. This should have been 7 but the weather had a hand in that! We had a very friendly welcome at the reception when we arrived and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful.
The reception also acts as an information centre, well stocked with leaflets for the surrounding attractions, as well as a place to hire freezer blocks if necessary and wetsuits if you’re going surfing. There is also a cash machine, which charges £1.50 per withdrawal. This is handy as the site shop does not accept debit or credit cards and only accepts cash for any purchases.
Pitch sizes were adequate if you had a medium sized tent and car but our neighbours had a large tent and had to ask if their car could encroach on our area. Pitch location could be a factor too. Some areas of the park seemed to be quite sheltered but some were victim to the winds coming straight off the Atlantic.
We had a corner pitch and a couple of times I had to move our car as others towing caravans could not make it round because of the lack of space. No choice of pitch was given but I can only assume that was because of the time of year.
The campsite was clean and well looked after and never noticed any rubbish around the park. The toilet block we used was always kept tidy and well stocked with toilet paper and soap.
The covered pool was clean and warm but did not have a life guard. This meant that, kids being kids, things were boisterous to say the least.
The evening entertainment was good on the nights we attended and the well-stocked bar was reasonably priced.
The site is (literally) just down the road from Newquay Airport. This didn’t bother us as we both work near Gatwick and are used to much bigger planes flying over us!
Overall this is one of the better sites we’ve stayed at and we may return in the future.

What a fantastic camp site in a great location. 10 minute drive into newquay town centre and with a lovely beach just down the hill.
The pitches were a very good size and the whole campsite was level. I did not see one pitch that looked like it was sloping.
The toilet block was spotless and clean, always had soap and toilet roll. The showers were free and nice and warm.
The shop on site sold everything that you needed. The Cafe/Takeaway had a good menu and the food was lovely. We never used the bar/club on site.
The swimming pool was free, just walk in and swim. The pool was warm and there were sun loungers around the edge.
The camp site is only a few miles away from newquay airport, this did not bothers us as most of the planes were not even jet engines. At most you would get 1 plane an hour and they do not run at night.
We would definitely recommend this site to couples and familys and we would return in the future.

Stayed here during the first week of the school holidays unaware that the Childrens club didn’t start until the 2nd week!
The pitches are excellent lovely and flat, the toilet/shower blocks was ok have been to better though.
The nightly entertainment was ok not very child friendly and didn’t start until 8.30pm.
The swimming pool is unsupervised so can get very out of control in the pool.
Café on site is very good and value for money.
Staff at reception and in café very friendly however security staff miserable.
Watergate Bay beach is beautiful and is a short free minibus ride from the site. Newquay is about 10 minute drive away.
Also note the site is at the end of Newquay Airport runway!

Fantastically located site north of Newquay. A 5 minute walk from the campsite will get you onto the coastal path, turn left 10 minutes to Watergate Bay or right 45 minutes for Mawgan Porth.
Views of the Northern Coastline are absolutely stunning! Both beaches are great for kids and dogs, lifeguards for those stupid enough to get out of their depth against the tide!
The Campsite is clean, friendly with good size pitches. The indoor swimming Pool is covered by a greenhouse type roof which means its always warm and tennis courts are only £2 an hour. Also its well laid out with plenty of green space for kids to run in as well as the playground.
Only downside is I missed the Guinness Premier Final as the don't have sky in the bar.
The surrounding area is full of great places to eat from Steins in Padstow (20 mins beautiful country drive by car) to Pubs and bistrows in every Bay. Be wary to book if you go peak season.
We recommend breakfast in the Island Bar on Watergate Bay (underneath 19) - expensive but the view and quality of the food make it worth a treat. Annoyingly they don't exchange anything you don't like, but even without this its Fab!

We recently stayed 4 nights at this campsite, and we must say that we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
It was our first visit to Cornwall, and it didn't disappoint.
The site facilities were excellent, the shower and toilet blocks were always clean, and looked very new.
The staff were extremely friendly especially in the on site bar and cafe, they made us feel welcome. Food reasonably priced.
The site had a very good idea with the freeze blocks. It is always a problem trying to keep them cold on a lot of sites, but here they offer you their own at a deposit of £1 per block. You just take them back to reception when you need some freshly frozen ones, and they swap them over for you.
They also offer mobile phone charging at the reception as well.
The site was very busy as it was bank holiday, but you wouldn't of thought so, because the whole site seemed to quiet considering there was a lot of people and children there.
The surrounding areas are beautiful too.
We would absolutely recommend this site to others.

Just back from an off the cuff weekend to Watergate. The weather was due to be fantastic so tent was thrown in the car and off we went.
Our welcome at reception was one of the friendliest yet, we were given a choice of pitch and details of how to get to the coastal path to walk down to the bay (which is a 15 min beautiful coastal walk).
The pitches are a really good size and very flat. Our 4 man tent and a car had ample room. There was one pitch by us that had two tents a gazebo and a van on it. Giving you an idea of size.
The facilities are good. There is a reasonably priced shop on site, cafe (open 7-8pm as out of season), kids play area, swimming pool and bar. With all of this we were thinking that it may all be a bit OTT as we normally prefer the quieter site, but this was not the case.
The toilets, showers and washing up facilities were all very clean and in good working condition. Showers are free, which is always nice.
Overall a thoroughly enjoyable weekend. Lovely site and lovely weather.

I would describe this as more like a holiday park than a camp site. We stayed here for one night and it was not my cup of tea at all. It is certainly a good location, which is why we chose it.
The toilet/shower blocks are clean but the older shower block had a problem with water pressure, the shower heads were no more than a dribble. I was told to try the newer shower block which did have better pressure but you had to press the button approx every five seconds to keep the water flowing.
The security was impressive, with a number plate recognition system to release the entrance barrier. A good site if you have kids, like fast food, cheesy entertainment and regimented pitches but best avoided if you don't.

This is a very friendly family owned and run site. It is very clean and tidy. The facilities are as stated with play areas and swimming pool.
The pitches are excellent and marked out clearly.
The club is excellent with a range of entertainment designed to please everyone. It is close to the beach, one of the best surfing beaches in the UK with a free mini-bus service should you need it. Newquay itself is approx. 4 miles away by bus or car.

This is our 2nd year on the site and once again we have really enjoyed our holiday. The shower and toilet blocks are always clean and when I used the washers they worked really well. The shop was stocked but if you wanted a croissant you need to up early as they soon go.
All staff very friendly especially behind the bar, they knew what my husband drank and when they saw him walking in they began to pour his pint, what more can a bloke ask for ?
We only really went to the bingo night but the atmosphere was live and kicking. We could here the bands on other evenings but this was not a problem we were so tired from been in the lovely clear sea surfing we slept like logs.
Roll on next year we shall be booking again once I know which weeks we are taking.

This caravan park was brilliant, it had working and warm showers, always had loo roll which was regularly filled, friendly staff, clean facilities (no spiders)! constant entertainment, dogs allowed, advice about the local area. I really cannot emphasise their attributes enough. They really did just get it right.
The local area was also fantastic, the site was located near the coast line - a short walk away with stunning views and great bars, restaurants and hideaways. The tide comes in very quickly though so beware! The local lifeguards are always on hand - I'm going to donate to the RNLI after seeing what they had to do whilst I was there!
The local towns are lovely - I recommend Padstow it has quaint and quirky shops and traditional Cornish Pasties! Everyone was so friendly! Also a huge bonus that most places were dog friendly too so we could take ours everywhere we went (except the Eden Project unfortunately!)
Overall I had a fantastic time despite the torrential rain - I did however, get my first tan so the sun is definitely hot when it rises over Cornwall!
