A great place to visit
Beautiful views and walks.
Excellent new shower block and very very clean. My family have visited this area for many years and never tire of its beauty and it has this in abundance.
The incline to the campsite may be a little daunting in bad weather but I have never seen anyone have a problem with it. There are many local places to eat out and Holgates do have a good menu although prices can be a little high.

Just back from our second visit to Hollins Farm. Since our visit last year, the portable cabin loos and showers have been replaced by an excellent modern block with heated floors, showers, disabled loo and baby change area.
In addition, there is now a large pot wash area, laundry room with ironing board and a kids playroom with TV, table football and a pool table. There is also a new small play area for the children.
As with last year, this site is spotless, the toilet block continuously cleaned and everything well maintained. The kids love the space to play, the pitch is a very generous size and the views over Morecombe Bay a lovely sight to view anytime of the day.
I highly recommend this site, it is a bit pricier than other sites but having full use of Holgates facilities with pool, sauna, restaurant, bar and play areas make up for this. A truly beautiful location.

Gone are the portable cabin type facilities(even though they were excellent) replaced with stone built building with everything including a small games room with a tv for the important football matches! or if you cant cope with missing the soaps.
Overall an excellent site that as only got better.
Still very family and pet friendly
Very good base for exploring the lakes and surrounding area you find difficult to imagine that you are only fifteen minutes from the motorway.
Will definitely visit again

First time at this site & it was as the majority of other reviewers have said; portable toilets & showers but immaculate & clean plus very hot water. Yes only 1 pot wash but that wasn't a problem at all.
The pitching field is sloped but if you pitch right then
There isnt an issue.
Plenty of space for kids to play & roam & safe area. Kids got to feed animals & collect fresh eggs :)
Could do with a play area though.
The weather wasn't great so field was wet but apparently it's had very heavy rain for weeks so it's not surprising. The wind howled on a couple of nights & there were storms but again didn't cause too much hassle. Just stayed in
The tent till it stopped & then it was lovely. Views are amazing from the top of the field especially.
We had a choice of where to pitch so can't complain. Ehu available.
Use of the main site was great. Swimming free & games room & small soft play. Also a little shop.
We ate in the restaurant most evenings & the food was very very high quality. Around £8 per adult meal. Kids menu £4. 95 including drink.
Sunday lunch was lovely - home-made Yorkshire & a pile of meat & veg.
The bar manager remembered us each day too & was more than helpful. Staff were great.
I did think the fees to camp were a bit much as it was £132 for 1 6 man tent, 1car, 3 adults, 1 child of 7 & 1 child of 1 for 3 nights as we had to pay a supplement for a large tent etc - I paid less for a week in pooley bridge & the facilities were outstanding.
Overall though it was good.
Easy walk to the beach but I wouldn't say it was the best for children under 4 for example.
Wardens were brilliant.

This was our first camp ever and we were really pleased with the site. We were pitched on a gentle slope (but no problem) near to the toilet block which was ideal for us as we have young children. We had EHU and a water tap next to our pitch.
The toilets were really clean and kept nice. Still only a temporary portable cabin as they are about to construct a new building, but they have very thoughtfully built a decking area round it and complete with hanging baskets-lovely!
Beautiful views across morecambe bay, we actually walked to the beach one night in about 15 minutes. Its not a sandy type beach, more pebbly but our children enjoyed searching for crabs and little fish. We also walked to the nearby silverdale site in about 5 minutes (across a field) and we took the children swimming for free.
There is a small games room there with air hockey and video machines which they enjoyed, and a small but very well stocked shop. There is also a bar and restaurant with a good menu and not bad prices.
The Hollins farm site itself was very well kept, with sheep and ponies nearby for the children to look at and free roaming chickens which were a delight!
It felt very safe there, with other families camping with children of all ages, but not a large overwhelming site, more homely.
Overall I would thoroughly recommend it and will return again next year.

We have just come back from a fantastic week at Hollins Farm. The wardens (Kevin and Lynn) are really great people to get on with, nothing to much trouble, and very child friendly.
We took our grandson (age 10) he absolutely loves it. Chickens running around, fields with goats and horses in. It is just a short walk over the fields to the main site (at Hogates) where you are able to use the facilities free.
The swimming pool, restaurant, games room and shop. There are activities on for the children ie. In the form of tournaments, which gives parents a 2 hour break.
I would recommend this site to anyone.

Have just returned from 3 days at Hollins Farm and we had the most fabulous time. The site is spotless, even though there were temporary portable cabins for showers and toilets they were pristine. This is a site to watch it has a lot of change happening all positive for campers and tourers.
Our view was overlooking the bay of Morecombe was stunning and surrounded by beautiful scenery. The children were overjoyed by the chickens walking freely around the site, popping in to see what goodies are on offer.
Just over the wall was a field of Shetland ponies which the kids fed daily. The field in the middle of the tents was a fab area for the kids to play safely and carefree.
Just a ten minute walk through the field took us to Holgates Silverdale site where we were able to use the pool and facilities free of charge. There is a restaurant and soft play area for the kids and a well stocked shop.
Not forgetting entertainment and a bar. I recommend Hollins Farm 100 percent you won't be disappointed.

Just returned back from Hollins Farm this weekend- 1 day early!.
The warden is lovely, very child friendly and always obliged my little boy taking him up and down on his mini tractor.
The site however, I was disappointed with. We were pitched at the site entrance near to the portable loos. The serviced pitches were steeped and incredibly crammed in (not more than 1metre) between tents. The whole tent field is very exposed, with the cove and lack of natural coverage creating a wind tunnel effect.
Because the British weather let us down, we campers all felt it and poles bent, pegs lifted out and even 2 families had to go due to the tents getting ripped due to gales.
During conversations with the manager at the main holgates site, unfortunately he said the older sheltered field is not allowed to be used any no more, and there is no further plans to develop and more tent spaces that are afforded the shelter and space that the tourers got. So no I won't return to this site, as I felt like a poor relation / afterthought (and a not reasonably priced one at that).
Sorry hate being negative but I had 2 young children and I feel it is more for hardened backpackers, not families

Just got back from a weeks camping at Hollins farm site. Found the site very clean and tidy and well looked after by the warden.
Although the site had porta cabin style toilet facilities they were always immaculate, plenty of loo roll and hot water.
The site was very busy at weekends, but tents are pitched around the outside of a large field, which left plenty of room in the middle for kids to play, making it an ideal site for familys.
The use or the close Holgates swimming pool was also a bonus to keep the kids entertained.
The surrounding area was a dog walker paradise, with well signposted walks, from coastal ambles to wooded glens and hill climbs all with spectacular views.
Silverdale and Arnside where both close by for the essential supplies of fresh groceries and of course a good supply of beer, but both sites did stock the minimum if you were desperate, for only a fraction more money.
All in all a very favoured site and would strongly recommend it,but don`t pitch in the gate way as we did due to strong winds off the bay.

Just returned from a 3night break at Hollins Farm. We usually stay on Holgates over the road which has the same owners so we thought we would give it a try.
This site is a lovely addition to the Holgates group, the wardens are lovely and really helpful, at 6pm they did a feeding the animals session and collecting fresh eggs with the children, mine loved this.
The site does have a lot of sloping pitches so beware where you are pitched, they all have water and tv hookup which is great. The showers and toilets are clean and the site is well kept. We enjoyed the walk over the field to Holgates for the pool which is fab.
The only thing I would say is it could do with a small play area for the kids away from the site as there is lots of spare fields to do this, mine really missed a park and they are too young to walk to Holgates.
I agree with previous comments that this could be done in the sloping fields and pitches put in on the flatter ones at the top. This site is great for campers and has a lovely atmosphere in a great area. I would definitely return to this site if a park was installed but I have to say I prefer paying that little bit more for Holgates as we love it there.
