This was our first visit to Home Farm and we didn't really know what to expect from reading some mixed reviews.

Good points:

We stayed on the Green hard standing area, next to the motor-home section and had good access to two toilet/shower blocks, which were kept clean and tidy at all times.

Our kids liked the fishing lake, although this was an extra charge.

Inside pool was good but this was also an extra charge.

Well stocked shop.

Best access we've ever had to a campsite, straight of the motorway and down an A road, turn off into the site. Great!

Secure access.

Didn't use the entertainment so can't comment on that.

Tesco 5 minutes drive away.

Burnham about 10 minutes away, it's all a bit run down but it's a change of scenery!

Bad points:

Outside pool was freezing and a bit dirty.

Some of the pitches were very small and quite tricky to get on to if you have a long unit (like we do!)

Some parts of the site looked a bit run down and needed a bit of a spring clean.

Some kids were left unsupervised (as I am noticing more and more when camping, it's like normal rules go out of the window!) one young girl about 4, was run over by a teenager on his bike tearing around the site. Luckily she wasn't too badly hurt.

It was all in all very good value for money as we paid under £200 for the week! We will probably return in the new year.

First visit to Home Farm for about 15 years. Site is is an excellent location, being only 5mins off the M5, and about a mile from Burnham on Sea, which has dedicated parking in a car park on the seafront for motorhomes - a very rare facility!

Entrance to the site very appealing, wonderful hanging basket displays, level grass pitches, new leisure block. Booked a hard standing in the Green field (no pets), arrived on a Thursday so had the pick of the pitches. Come Friday afternoon, the field was full, and pitches quite close together! Also, some outfits had dogs in them - was told it is a no pets field - but disabled visitors are allowed to have pets with them in this field! Strange, because these people would have a long walk to reach the dog walk in the Red field (pets allowed)! Why not pitch them in disabled pitches there?

Toilets and showers clean most of the time, until you get a lot of children using them on their own. Indoor leisure centre, fabulous, very helpful staff, warm pool, brilliant sauna, steam room, & jacuzzi. If you book for 3 nights you get a free 2hr swim for each day of your stay for each person. The spa facilities are extra but only £1. 50 per person. Gym looked good, but too much effort for us!

Lounge bar (over 18's) and amusements, clean and welcoming. Tv's in the lounge & pool table. Entertainment on the Fri and Sat night, very good, large cabaret room. With a bit of 'tweaking' could be a first class site.

Get rid of weeds on hardstandings, cut and de-weed grass more often, place coded locks on toilet/shower blocks, so children cannot use these facilities alone. Get security to ensure noise after say midnight is kept to a minimum. Heat outdoor pool a bit more!. A good site for the pitch fee, & would return again

Just spent 7 days at home farm on hard standing pitch during a very wet and windy period. Our field was very wet and muddy.

Must mention the showers and toilets were kept really clean and tidy being cleaned about four times everyday.

The site itself was kept litter free considering windy conditions.

Don't know what entertainment was like as we didn't use.

Just up the road is a very well stocked caravan dealership plus ASDA super store and Tesco.

There are plenty of good eating places in Highbridge and Burnham.

This is our forth or fifth visit here and would highly recommend.

Just returned from a weekend here in march 2012. Country & western weekend which was good to see people dressed up. Kids had good time in park, but we requested to be near this when we booked, but was not mentioned obviously due to the event on. We were put down at back of field.

GOOD POINTS: Nice clean park no litter, but another play park for kids wouldn't go amiss.

DOWN POINTS: Couldn't wash hands in toilets in bar area as they didn't work. Security on the door in club let our young children just walk out at night. When we used toilets in the block the water was dark brown when flushed. A bit of a put off for cleaniness.

EXTREMELY BAD POINT: Indoor Swimming pool you have got to pay on top NOT FREE to get in - would have cost us in excess of £12+ to go swimming, despite pool being on the site ( outdoor cold pool is free ! ) We walked away when we found this out and didn't use it.

Would use site again only in summer time to make use of the free pool outside etc.

We have just spent 3 days on this site for a Country & Western event.

We would not recommend this site to dog owners as all visitors with dogs are located in an area which we found to be extremely muddy and sub-standard, compared to other site locations within the complex.

The dog owners site is located next to a high speed railway line and a very busy road and you can imagine the noise from the traffic and the trains which operate throughout the day and night.

Additionally we found the facilities to be adequate but lacking in maintenance and cleanliness ie showers not working, toilets not flushing.

We had 4 days here in August.

Booking was straightforward over the phone, written confirmation with passes were received before we set off, however we received more when we got there. There is a pass arrangement you have to display in your car and in your caraven and you have to pay a fee of £2 for the barrier card. (You get a pound back if you hand the card back when you leave)

The site is well laid out and the pitch size is adequate. There was enough room for our 4 birth a porch awning and our car on our pitch, but no room for anything else. We were sited very close to the shower block and just around the corner from to open air pool and shops which was very convienient, however I don't think you can be too far away from anything no matter where you are on site.

The pool looked very good if not cold and was always attened by a life guard when open. There was also an indoor pool in the 'health spa' which was available at an extra cost.

The shop was well stocked and reasonably priced.

The showers and toilet block were generally clean and modern.

The club house was great entertainment for the kids and they had various acts on which our daughter was never awake late enough to see, but she enjoyed the party games and Hooty the Owl.

Burnham itself was like a fifties version of Blackpool, the shortest pier in England and a few amusement arcades along the promenade which was always clean and tidy. Further afield, cheddar gorge and caves is only 10 miles away which is worth at least a drive through, Glastonbury & stone henge is only 20 miles away and various other sites that make this a good spring board to get around the south west.

One thing I would say is that access to the site is on a tight right hand bend on a busy road, so be careful when turning right as you often are when going into Burnham. We witnessed a fairly nasty crash there which had the main road blocked for several hours. Turn left out of the site, the roundabout isnt far.

We have just returned back from Home Farm after spending a week there in our tourer. We had a great time and would return back without hesitation. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the facilities are very good. The outdoor pool is cold, but then again I have never been to a UK site where an outdoor pool isn't cold. It did not stop us going in although it took me a while sometimes :) The on-site club is excellent with reasonable prices and good quality basic food (Burgers, Pizzas, Chips etc). It cost us £12 for 4 of us to have something to eat which is great value!

The indoor pool is fine but as mentioned by other people there is an additional charge (£8. 50 for a family of 4). Shower/toilet/desposal facilities were very good and clean and we never had a problem with them being too busy. The entertainment was of a very good standard (although not always my taste) and was varied so everyone would see something they liked over the course of a week.

One of the best things about this site is there is lots to do and visit in the surrounding area. We had a great day at the local farm and visited Weston-Super-Mare which is only a 20 minute drive away with it's good beach and 'seaside' feel. In addition, there is a Tesco 2 minutes drive away and we had a fantastic meal in the Hungry Horse pub just down the road.

Some of the comments on here are justified, especially around the ground becoming muddy after some rain. However, we were lucky as we got set up just before a heavy shower and so the ground in out awning remained fine and the surrounding area recovered quickly enough. The only other concern I would raise is there is no entertainment during the day. We have 2 children and they occupied themselves and we did go out on most days, but there is nothing run by the site during the day apart from dinner with 'Hooty the Owl' on one of the days we were there.

The pitches are not very big, and despite the owner's best efforts, some of them become rather muddy if there is a significant amount of rain.

The shop has better than average variety and reasonable prices. There is an excellent well supervised swimming pool and an indoor leisure centre (rather expensive).

Burnham has a newly refurbished promenade, excellent beaches alongside the, the smallest pier in the West and lots of traditional shops. A decent sized Tesco is near to the site and a very good Morrisons in the town centre.

Spent a week here, agree with everything others before me said. Everything was on site but was disappointed with the prices in the shop, there is a tesco's just down the road.

Beer in the club was expensive and went flat really quickly and the food was diabolical.

Outside pool was freezing and then they charged for the indoor pool which they don't tell you till you get there. The indoor pool was suppose to be 30 degrees, but the heating was switched off within an hour of the session.

Shower blocks need some work, only 4 out of 5 showers working in one block and only 1 of them was actually hot and worked properly, the other 3 dribbled rather than showered.

Toilets covered in damp toilet tissue as the kids found it highly amusing to throw it at each others, and toilet cubicles are too small with the sanitary bins and toilet roll holders and I am only a size 10/12 so I am not a large person.

Quite close to lots of nice places, Weston, Burnham, Breen and Wells which is nice day out.

I visited Home Farm for a 4 day break with my wife and two boys (aged 7 and 10) with a touring caravan.

THE GOOD

- A good clubhouse with usual fast-food, amusements and bingo.

- 2 swimming pools, one inside, one out and a good gym.

- A convenience shop

- Kids playground and football pitch

- Diggerland is 40 mins away and a great day out for boys.

- Plenty of local supermarkets and a short drive to the 'beach'.

- Good hookup, water and grey waste facilities.

THE BAD

- The outside pool was heated to only 15 degrees Celsius and hence empty.

- The indoor pool was an extra cost - £8.50 per swim for family of four.

- The gym closed at 5pm to non-members (not us!) and again an extra cost.

- Not enough shower facilities, just 4 + 1 OutofOrder in our local block.

- Broken tiles on the shower floor - an insurance claim waiting to happen

- My shower only worked when you kept your hand on the button - ok if you can shower with one hand and even then it was a mere sprinkle!

- The local beaches are more mud than sand and generally very open and windy.

In short, I was looking forward to a nice 4 day relaxing break by the pool but it was just too cold even for the most hardy - only the ducks went swimming in it. With some minor changes, this could be a really great place to stay.
