Managed to get this as a last minute booking for Easter and we had a fantastic time - we are 2 adults 3 kids (12, 10 and 5) and one dog and we camped right beside the kids play park which is a really good one (so the kids say).
There is a small wooded area for adventures and a dog walking field further along.
The showers/toilets were plentiful (2 blocks) were hot and clean. We didn't go in the club so cant comment. The shop sold all you need (bit pricey tho) and we used the chippy one night but only got chips (a disappointingly small bag after queuing for AGES).
The staff were very helpful and friendly. There are statics and a couple of cottages to hire also on this site.
I would definitely return to this site purely because the park and play facilities were so good for the kids and that makes a relaxing time for us too.
Night times it was a bit noisy - people talking and laughing by camp-fires loudly and a couple of drunk teens messing about one night kept me awake - but that wouldn't put me off going back.

Went to check out campsite for my son and his friends ( male and female)to visit in summer. Facilities where good but over run with children.
Noise is supposed to stop after 11.30 but on 2 of the 3 nights we where there large groups partied well into the night. Was then told they don't take young groups. Pity young people are judged before they can prove themselves.
It has a good on site shop and shower/ toilet block was clean and plenty of hot water. Good campsite if you have kids or want to go with other families. Not if you want a quiet break.

My husband, I and two kids spent 3 nights in the tent with EHU on Easter weekend. I was quite concerned about shower block when I read the reviews however I found out that the shower block is newly refurbished and clean.
The staff are helpful, starting from the booking process until we left the site.
We didn't use the club house or buy food, so can't comment on that.
The playground is good.
We had a great time there!

We have just got back from a few days at this site, we have visited this site about 4 times now and I would definitely recommend it for a base in the Lakes,
The owners must have been reading the reviews, as the shower block by the main camp has now got a new ceiling and lights, no more spiders! and now feels a lot cleaner,
We had a great time and stayed an extra day! We had the camp to ourselves for the first few days, brilliant!
The club house has also seen a lick of paint which was good.
The fish & chips were fresh and excellent!
We will be returning!

Stayed here for a 2 night weekend break with my partner. He booked the site, and after I read some of the reviews by other campers I was concerned. My experience of this site was good.
We were the only tent in our field, so nice and quiet. The toilet blocks by the play ground were clean (except a few cobwebs). The showers aren't amazing, could be more powerful, but they still do the job. We didn't use the shop, etc, but there seemed to be far more here than your average campsite. I would definitely come back here again.

We have just returned from 2 weeks at this site and cannot identify the last August review as the same site. We have been to plenty of sites around the UK and found this to be one of the best.
Of course it has faults, what site does not? - we would have liked curtains in the showers as they were quite small and the drying area got soaked. The chippy was very good, the fish and chips both very tasty and the young lad serving was lovely but maybe more choice would be good, eg sausages for the non-fish lovers.
It was quite expensive compared to some other sites but you do tend to get what you pay for and the facilities were good at this site.
The plus points far out-weigh the negatives. The staff were very helpful and always willing to advise. The shop could maybe have done with a bit more choice and more local produce but was fine for us as all we tended to need were the essentials - bread, milk etc. Plenty of leaflets about local attractions etc available.
We found the toilet block (we only used the upper block near the reception) excellent- always clean, never smelled, always with plenty of paper and cleaned regularly. We had no problem with water in the showers - always plenty of hot water. It ran out of soap on our last day but that was the only time. Maybe more than one soap dispenser would be useful?
Our youngest son used the play area a lot and said it was good, particularly for meeting up with new friends. He says the 'spinning wheel thing was really good'!
We don't normally use the club house on sites and tend to avoid sites with one but as we chose a horrible fortnight, weather-wise, to visit the Lake District we did use it on this site. The boys liked the snooker room, the atmosphere was friendly and we felt safe to leave them there on their own. The staff were more than happy to accomodate endless children constantly asking for change for the machines! We would, however, agree with other reviewers that it does need a bit of upgrading, redecorating and bringing into the 21st century.
The local area is fantastic - beautiful countryside and lovely little villages. Good walks up Helvellyn and Scafell Pike (the latter not for the faint-hearted!). Good pub food and staff at The Sun in Pooley Bridge; lovely staff at the Glenridding Sailing Centre; good for wet days are Ostrich World and Rheged Discovery Centre.
One thing we did notice was that there were very few bakers - we like fresh, local bread, cakes etc for our picnics but could not find one anywhere.
Overall, this was an excellent site, we would happily visit again. Very clean, friendly, welcoming and not packed in like sardines, which we have had on other sites.

Just returned from this site and must say it has good points and bad
There was 2 of us and paid £24 per night. The kids arrived and they had to pay £4 each per night to stay in our van! Then they wanted a further £5 per night to park the car which the owner got a flea in ear. That would of been £37 per night with 2 cars!
I visited this site 8 yrs ago and nothing has been changed.
The bottom toilets have a problem, not cleaned enough when the site is busy as all tents and caravans are using them. The toilets have a flush problem (water pressure)the cisterns don't fill up quick enough so when you go, the contents of the previous persons is still there. They run out of toilet paper, soap and they smell of urine. Use the top toilets near statics.
It has a club and requires updating
The site is safe for children and a decent park.
Sorry but I will never use this site again until the park is updated and the tariffs are fair

We stayed at the site for 6 nights. It is easy to find and is well located. The site shop is reasonably well stocked and the prices are very reasonable.
The toilet blocks were, for the most part, clean but on a number of occasions there was no paper in the cubicles and none of our party thought much of the showers, which were cold on more occasions than they were hot, and at one point the lower block showers were not working at all.
My wife was impressed with the laundry facilities and had an enjoyable evening in the bar competing in the pub quiz.
The play area was very good and all of the children thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The site was clean and the bins were emptied regularly.
However, this was without doubt the noisiest site I have ever stayed at. We would have left after the first night had we not been camping with other family members who were not as flexible as us. There is a noise curfew but this was not enforced and on most nights loud music, shouting and foul language continued into the early hours.

We stayed on this site in the middle of August
Pricey at £72 for two cars four adults and one tent if you ask me.
Especially at the state of the toilets near the tent field.
No loo paper, one soap dispencer, no hair dryer or a simple thing like a mop bucket after you are finshed in the shower.
The power and water cutting out in the mens showers.
Its very strange that the toilets near the club house are better maybe beacause this is because it's next to the static caravans?
One good point good shop, chip shop is ok.
Good location for walking.
Will never use this site again.

Have just come back from a 7 night stay, when we arrived the site was packed, as it was the bank holiday. We camped in the overflow field, as there was plenty of space, The lady on reception did say that there was over 100 tents on site! The first night was the worst as it rained most of the day & night
The Shower block in the main area was heaving at peak time and mainly with dirty floors, full of cobwebs, and cold, it was queuing to wash the pots, It was easier to go to the top block, as this seemed cleaner, and warmer, also with a radio, and less spiders, but the showers where cooler,
My son spent most of his time in the play area and said it was good, the site was safe and fairly quiet as everybody followed the 11.30pm curfew,
The Chipshop was lovely, fresh and cooked to order, the reception was well stocked, friendly and very helpful,
The Laundry was very good, and due to the weather being excellent, the was a washing line which I put the washing out for the day.
The club was also pleasant, I found it funny that there was a TV & dart board behind the bar!
It could do with updating.
Overall, it is a fairly expensive site to stay and the wash facilities could do with updating, but a lovely place, and would visit again.
