Once I had got my head around the online booking and realised that the extras were adding up, 2 x children, 2x dogs we Paid £30 a night. This was slightly more expensive than some sites but I found the person on the phone very helpful. I chose a full serviced pitch as all the prices seemed the same. Booking was confirmed quickly by mail and only required a £20 deposit, which helped with the budget!

Satnav took me straight to the site no problem and on arrival staff were friendly. First impressions were of a very large site and I was concerned that we would be queuing for the amenities. Not so, 2 shower blocks meant that there was always a cubical or washing up space. Lots of hot water for washing up.

Shower block got very dirty when it had rained and there was a lack of sufficient soap in the 1 container to wash your hands. Showers were ok and did the job, the positive was a fold down seat which was useful for kids and disabled. Not the worst I’ve seen but extra cleaning during the day would make them more comfortable.

Children’s play ground fantastic but I recommend you choose a pitch away from it, as older children tended to be drawn there after about 8pm and seemed to stay up. Club was ok although did not tend to use it but staff again were friendly. Did not try the fish and chips so can’t comment.

Pitch was spacious and plenty of room. Take rock pegs if on hard standing and even these bent, but no condensation (or very little) Great location fantastic views, so much to do. (Would have been fantastic place to walk from had I not hurt my leg before going)

Shop had all the essentials needed, nearest supermarket we found was Penrith (10 minute up the road) but try out Cranstones fine foods store just off the roundabout towards Penrith.

Overall a good stay and would visit again.

Stayed here for 5 nights in june 2010, as good as ever, you no what to expect at this site, safe for the kids, lovely park, ideal location, friendly staff, fair price for the lakes.

Would recommend this site anyone, if you want parties everynight, loud music this isnt for you, it is a excellent family site which is why weve been going for the past 10 years and will continue. Next year my elderly parents are renting a cottage whilst we will be in our trusty tent.

The clubhouse is dated, but is effective in its job, keep kids and adults occupied, games room, tv room, pool table, selection of beers, wines and soft drinks, arcade machines, jukebox, it only opens on a evening 7.30- 8.00 in peak times, a bit later off-peak.

The location is ideal, not far into penrith or glennriding, short drive over kirkstone to windermere and ambleside, very convienient for visiting anywhere in the lakes.

We had a lovely 3 nights at this site. Initial impressions were good and we found staff friendly. We drove down past the kids area and parked up by tall trees. Nice pitches all over the site but much more privacy the further down you go. The main part was packed- families mainly by the looks of things.

Toilets/showers. Not bad, generally clean but with light showers of rain it got a bit muddy. Take wellies! or 'wet' flip flops! I personally wear flips as I'm odd about touching floors lol. We showered in the top block which seemed older. Generally these were quieter and cleaner but they are a bit tatty. The first shower was fine, nice and hot. I was able to plug in my hairdryer and found it to be near the mirrors. Only one socket available or use a token hairdryer. This dit not prove an issue. Second day we both showered in a warm/cold shower which was rubbish. A lot of people complaining about this! Third morning was fine.Get there earlier. Before 8.30am!

The chippy was not great.Fish ok but chips were rubbish! Don't bother! The bar was fine- DJ on the Saturday which was fine- better for families I would think.

Pubs.Brackenrigg near by but seemed expensive drinks. Cracking views though over the lake.

Horse and Farrier was a great find in Dacre- good home made food and they open for brekkie. We did this am before a walk from the lovely Aira Force falls and beyond. Really good service and friendly locals and dogs!

Do try the Yanwath Gate Inn in Yanwath. The food was superb in there plus good service. Helpful with special diets (I am gluten free) We found this from the leaflets in the shop/reception.

Overall a good experience. Perhaps this site would benefit from more showers and loos at the bottom end. We paid £22 per night which we think is quite expensive.

We are a family of four with children of 8 and 10 and have just had a fantastic bank holiday weekend at this site. We had an electric hook up and the pitches were large, flat and not too stony. Fitted our Norfolk lake with Montana 6 front extension easily.

Whole site had a spacious feel to it, lots of open space. Kids play area was the best we have seen,.

Toilets and showers were roomy and clean with plenty hot water, but would have benefited from being heated. Nice to see facilities placed in the tent field as well. Dishwashing was outdoors under canopy but plenty hot water.

Good shop on site selling basic groceries plus a good range of camping products and reasonable prices.

Did not go in the bar or the games room so cannot comment on these. Beautiful views of the fells from the site and fantastic view of Ullswater from a bench placed across the road from the entrance. Would definitely return here.

On arriving at the site the reception staff welcomed us greatly, but on our first evening we felt as though we were been watched all the time by a member of staff who made us feel a bit uncomfortable,

The next day we had been out all day & as soon as we got out of our cars this member of staff approached one of the women in our group & complained we had not paid for one of the dogs, he was very ignorant & started shouting at us cos we had forgot to pay the £1. 50 per night for the dog, his attitude was appalling.

As a group we had spent over £400 & felt very disappointed by this approach.

Apart from this the site was nice & clean.

Sorry but we will not be returning to this site.

Camped here for 3 nights in September 09, When we arrived the field was virtually empty, we got informed by the very helpful and friendly staff at reception that the pub was only open from Fridays, and over the weekend. There was no chippy on site as previously mentioned on one of these reviews.

They had a lot of rain so the ground was very wet, but as the week went on the ground was fine. The toilet/shower block by the main camping field, was ok, but feel I do have to mention that there was no soap for washing your hands after using the loo, the slatted ceiling was thick-ish with cobwebs dead daddy long legs and spiders, there was no mop to self clean the showers, my husband stated the gents were the same. We found another shower scullery area near the pub and launderette, which were very clean, had a mop on hand, plenty of soap and a plug socket if you wanted to plug your straightners in or charge a mobile etc, it even had the radio on too, the showers were better in this block too.

The shop was less than half stocked, maybe due to nearly end of season. We got the impression with this site it was right at the side of the marina, its not its in a nice rural position, and the marina is approximately 1 mile down the road. Dont think I would go back to this site next year

We have only just returned from the Ullswater caravan and marine park, despite the weather, it was so good we stayed an extra night. These 8 nights were the best we have spent caravaning, so far. The family who run the site were so friendly and helpful, and their hard work deserves to be commended. From 7am till 12 they work their hearts out, making sure the campsite is spotless and used to the best of the fields abilities.

The showers and toilets are cleaned 3 times a day, but due to the poor weather the showers were muddy in between, through no fault of the owners of the site. A mop and bucket in the facility would have helped the in between times and I would have certainly cleaned the floor of the shower and toilet after my muddy feet had walked on it.

The bar was quiet, except for Saturday when there was a children's disco and a very hard quiz; be fair our highest score was 4! and we are quite intelligent, but it was fun and encouraged everyone to mix. Surprisingly, we enjoyed the quietness of the club and found our children enjoying the holiday better than previous livleier holidays. There were amusements there, but not to the extent you needed a mortgage at the end of the holiday. Pool was a fair price and my children loved playing it.

It would not be a holiday in the Lake District, without taking the steam boat around the lake; it was fabulous. Highlight of my holiday had to be walking to Osprey Point and seeing those wonderful birds in the wild. Everywhere we went the staff were friendly and having been told previously the children would be bored in the Lake District, I can safely say they were far from bored. The wonderful park on our campsite, the indoor mountain climbing, trips on the lake and to Keswick, walks to see the Ospreys and Aira falls, bike riding around the camp and finding new friends. They both want to return next year, they loved it so much.

Hats off to the staff of this wonderful camp and to the two fab people from Ipswich, who provided the most wonderful emergency fish and chips in the chip shop. Thank you to the father and son owners of the camp, who provided wood on our request for the muddy pitch we foolishly pitched on, our faults!, without this wood we would have been in mud up to our ankles every day. Best camping holiday we've had so far, thank you.

Good campsite with helpful friendly staff which couldn't be said for the other campsites in the area. Plenty of space in the overflow areas where it was generally quieter and less muddy. A bit out of the way for walking into Pooley Bridge if you wanted to go there for a few drinks. Toilets near the tents were constantly muddy due to the weather but the one near the bar area were spotless. The bar was ok and on the Saturday night had a kids disco, quiz and karaoke for those who enjoy that sort of thing.

We have been going to this camp site for the last nine years and we will be going back this year too.The lay out has not changed much over the years just got a bit bigger. I have two boys one 11 and one 4 and they cater for all ages.

We also have a dog that comes with us and the dog walk is really good with a really fantastic view.

The staff on the site are very helpful always willing to help. The site shop caters for everyday needs.

Stayed at this site arriving on Bank holiday Saturday, the site was very very busy, in the camping field near the toilets and play park it was so crowded that we were initially put off and would not have stayed, however they had opened a couple of overflow fields and although these had a slightly longer walk to the toilet they were not at all busy (so if you drive in and think that it's too crowded for you keep going and you may find more space away from the main area!)
The toilets and showers were clean and managed well for the amount of people there. The play park was very busy, but we did not use it, nor the bar or the chippy so can't comment on how good they were! The staff were helpful and friendly, and we would go here again if we were to visit that area of the lakes again.
