I have just spent 2 nights at this campsite. The facilities are kept clean and spotless.
The shop sells any basics you might need and snacks. The shop is open for 11 hours from 8am in case you run short of anything, and the staff are helpful and friendly.
The views from where I stayed were spectacular, woken by the sound of the cows in a nearby field and birdsong. Very relaxing.
There is a gated entrance, swipe card operated which is open between 7am and 11pm. A parking area at the front in case you get back late from your days out.
The only bit that could be called the down side is literally that, probably because of the area, although your caravan or folding camper can be levelled, the ground where your awning is can be on a bit of a slope.
The Queen Victoria pub about a mile away serves a variety of food to cater for all tastes.
All in all, I would say this site comes highly recommended.

Second time here at this excellent site and can only reiterate the previous excellent comments. The pubs in the village is now down to one as the New Inn is up for auction and boarded up however the GBG listed Queen Victoria remains open all day, does food afts. and eves. Not a lot to do around the area, good for walking, no nearby buses so a car essential for sightseeing, though we were quite happy to just enjoy the tranquillity. As previously mentioned no mobile signals but good freeview reception.

Just returned from this delightful site, peace and quiet abounds. Fresh bread and pastries baked on site every morning (order the night before), some pitches slightly sloping but nothing serious. The dog walk on site leaves a little to be desired, but a large field direct opposite the entrance to the site, loads of wonderful walks near the site. The site toilets and showers are spotless 5 star, I would not hestitate to return again or recommend to a fellow camper. Wardens and staff very friendly and helpful in every way, all in all I would award this site a 5 star rating.

We have just returned from our second visit to Cheddar Mendip Heights and yet again we were not disappointed.
We received a friendly and warm welcome and were efficiently booked and shown to our pitch. The toilet and shower facilities are first class, especially the family room. The shop is well stocked for basics.
The site does slope but there was a pile of timbers and bricks available for levelling. The playground kept my boys entertained. This site is really peaceful at night as well as very dark, so make sure you take a torch for night time visits to the loo.
The site staff deserve special recognition for keeping the water flowing on what was a very cold weekend.
I recommend this site and will be returning.

We have just had 4 nights on this site. Perfect location and very friendly staff. Great shower/toilet facilities, good recycling, shop small but has the essentials. Pitches medium sized and some slightly sloping, small play area for children. Only criticism is lack of site lighting, its pitch black at night which makes going to the toilet block a bit tricky! Also not sure why toilet block needs a code to get in?! 12 of us ate at the Queen Victoria pub in Priddy and had a great meal. Would return and can recommend.

Some of the pitches are quite slopping so make sure you have chocks with you. The wardens are very friendly and helpful.
The site shop is very good and supplies freshly baked bread which you can order the day before there is also a farm shop next door which sells meat, veg etc
Toilets/showers very clean with excellent recycling area. Entry is a barrier with a £10 deposit for the card.
Dog walk is a little to be desired but the general area has good walks when you get off the road as some of the lanes have no footpaths. Wells is a very nice town Cheddar itself is very over priced and touristy
Attention needs to be taken when driving to the site as we did an incorrect turning and had to go through the gorge(do'able not ideal)
Local village is good and a 5 min walk with 2 pubs although we didn't go into them as a there was a folk festival going on at the time we stayed therefore very busy a lot of the attendees stayed at the site but it didn't feel crowded

A fantastic site with fantastic staff, we really enjoyed our stay here. Staff were hugely supportive and helpful when our car broke down and we were stranded on the site for 2 days. They were completely unfazed and extremely accomodating - even offering to help us take our tent down in the pouring rain!
Pitching:
The top field has slopes, be prepared to level up tables and get close to your sleeping partner when they roll down the hill at night! You could have a flat pitch by the boundary wall but these lose the sunlight in the afternoon. We didn't find the slope to be too much of a problem.
Facilities:
Top quality. Always clean (and most campers observed the 'mop after using shower' nicety). Plenty of hot water. We went in mid season and the site was busy but not full - we suspect you might have to pick your time in high season/school hols.
Lots of space for dishwashing (undercover and outdoors!). Good recycling area and easy access to fresh water.
Site shop is excellent, sells everything you could possibly need. Order croissants/bread/pastries the day before (baked on premises)and these were excellent with local jam that the shop sells.
Surrounding area:
Lots to see and do. The walk book that site shop sells is excellent. Cheddar, Wells and Glastonbury are well worth a visit. The Queen Victoria pub in the village is great.
We will definitely visit again!

At the time of visiting there were really hard-working, helpful and intelligent staff.
The beauty of this site is that there are so many good walks from the site– you don't have to drive. The shop sells a book of walks from the campsite. You could stay for three nights and really get a feel for the Mendips. The local hamlet, Priddy, is also charming in an agricultural sort of way.
The site shop is very useful, sells Mendip Moments ice cream and Cheddar beers The meat (steak, mince and burgers) from the local farm is sold in the site shop and very good it is too. And unlike most farm shops it is very reasonably priced.
No mobile signal but good wifi and not too expensive—£5 for 3 days.
Two good pubs in the village; one, the New Inn, offers its menu as a take-away for campers. It is the quintessential pub where you can sit outside overlooking the village green. The other, the Queen Victoria is the sort of old country pub we all dream of. Good beer and food, wonderful atmosphere and friendly locals.
A fried-food van (fish’n’chips, burgers, hot dogs, etc) visits the campsite every Wed ev and the village green every Fri ev.

This is an excellent quiet site. We have a 7metre long motor home and tow a KA and had no problems entering or negotiating the site. It is however an isolated site if you have no transport.
Bikes are not really suitable on the narrow roads, as is walking along the roadway. Yes, there is an excellent farm shop next door, a pub walking distance in Priddy Village, but if you want a paper its a few miles to travel.
The site owners run a small shop of basic supplies. With our KA we found it an excellent site to visit Wells and Cheddar and there is plenty to do in both places.
The wardens are very friendly and helpful and stop to chat to you on the site. One of the best sites we have been to, pity about it being miles from anywhere.

Just returned from a 3 night stay at this lovely campsite. We've stayed at several C&C club sites, and this one has to be the friendliest yet. It's not too big, the facilities are clean and well maintained.
We booked for a grass pitch with service, but before our arrival, the wardens rang to offer us a hardstanding pitch instead as they had a lot of rain. We accepted, but as it happens the weather was fine until the day of departure anyway.
The site is sloping so levellers are necessary. There are three fields, two of them hardstanding, and one grass. Entry to the site is controlled by a barrier that you have to obtain a swipe card for (£10 deposit). The same deposit can also provide a key to the family bathrooms (2 of them) which are fantastic if you have young children.
The showers are very good, and are operated by a pull cord, so no annoying timers that shut off every 15 seconds!
For children there is a small play area at the bottom of the main hardstanding area, but with Cheddar Gorge just down the road, and the beaches at Weston and Brean not far away, there is plenty to keep the little ones busy.
The site shops is very good, selling all the usual plus a very good selection of local ales, cider, and meat from the farm shop next door. The farm shop is well worth a visit. The meat and other produce is very good.
All in all, this is an excellent site, that we will definitely be returning to.
