Quite a small site with pitches close together. A small play area and we found the toilet / shower block small, though there were two family rooms for those with children.
The shop was well stocked with fresh produce baked daily (scones and pastries were fab).
The staff made the site for me, friendly, helpful and always had time for a chat.
The location was good, close to Cheddar, Mendip Hills, Wells, Wookey Hole, Glastonbury and I am told (though we didn't do any) there were some nice local walks.
Would I go back there again. Sure.

Wonderful location just 10 minutes from the Cheddar Gorge and lots of lovely local walks. All staff were very welcoming and helpful. We were particularly pleased that the 'No noise after 11pm' was spelt out to all campers in the leaflet. If only this happened at all CCC sites! The shop was very well stocked and, unusually, we had no need to go elsewhere for provisions. We were also pleased to see extensive recycling facilities.
We would definitely visit again but two things to be aware of. Firstly, I would say most of the pitches have a slope of some sort. The CCC handbook says 'Some'. I think this is being kind. Secondly, the washrooms were very cramped - only 2 shower cubicles and no individual washing cubicles in the gents. This was not enough for a full site with 90 pitches. Be prepared for a long wait or go without a shower!

This was the busiest site I stayed at in a two-week trip, which was a bit of a shock after having whole fields to myself. However it was was quiet at night and not busy in the washrooms if you timed it right.
I was lucky to get one of the last few pitches and it was a bit sloping. I've got a new rather shiny camping mat and I kept sliding down in the night! Shoulda brought my old thermarest.
The facilities were very clean and all worked well. They seemed a bit municipal after the smaller, sometimes idiosyncratic campsites I'd been staying at.
The shop has good bakery products in the morning and there's a farm shop next door.
It's an interesting area with quiet lanes to walk or cycle along. I was only doing an overnight so can't really comment on the area.
I'm not a member so it was more expensive to stay but still half the price of some campsites. I was pleased to find that the Camping and Caravanning Club has low rates for cyclists/backpackers and I'm likely to stay in other of their sites.

This site is set in a fantastic location with easy access to the mendip hills, Cheddar and Wooky Hole. Within walking distance the village is great with 2 fantastic pubs serving good ale and food.
Unfortunately it now feels very dated. The toilet and shower block is small and cramped feeling cold and dark. 2 showers 4 sit down toilets and a trough in the gents side and 2 showers and 6 sit downs in the ladies side. 2 dish washing sinks inside and 2 outside. Washing machine and a dryer.
As with all CC&C sites they were all spotless and well kept but small and inadequate for such a large site.
The shop was good and well provisioned with lots of local produce on the shelves.
The camping field was in general sloping but our hardstanding was level.
The playground was a joke consisting of 2 swings and 1 slide.
All in all for the price we paid very poor value, we will not return as there are better sites in the area including some lovely certified locations with better facilities.

Myself, OH, 14yo and 11yo just returned from 5 wet days and nights on this site. As per previous reviewers the facilities were kept spotless at all times (a credit to the staff), but the gents toilet block was very cramped with only a 6-700mm wide corridor between the sinks and toilet doors which meant that anyone leaving a toilet cubicle had to squeeze past anyone using the sinks. Also only 2 showers which often had a queue of people waiting to use them.
The shop was very good although a little expensive (£1.70 for a small bloomer) and all staff were friendly and helpful. The site is in a good location with Cheddar gorge only 5 miles away (well worth a visit). This was only our 2nd outing (previous CACC Moreton) and I must admit that we weren't really impressed with the size / number of facilities especially as this is one of the more expensive sites in the CACC guide book.
We visited and ate at both the Queen Victoria and New Inn pubs in Priddy food / staff were good in both but we preferred the New Inn as it had a little more choice on the menu and very friendly and helpful staff. Overall a very nice but wet break in a very beautiful area.

My husband & I visited this site for a long week-end over the Bank Holiday. The site is in a beautiful location not far from Cheddar, Wookey Hole & Wells. The site itself slopes, although we were in the top corner where it was reasonably flat.
The facilities were very clean & well maintained although very busy as it was a Bank Holiday week-end. The only criticism is that they could do with more showers when the site is full. The camp site shop is fantastic, probably one of the best I've come across. It stocks lots of local produce including local beers plus lots of other useful camping supplies. And every morning there is fresh baked bread & croissants.
There is a dedicated dog walking area at the bottom of the site but we found it easier to go out of the site to one of the footpaths.
The staff are all very friendly & helpful & always seem to be available if you need anything.
There are lots of walks in the area & there are two good pubs in the village within walking distance. We had meals in both of them & found the food & service to be very good. Both had areas you could take dogs in when eating. You can buy a very useful book of local walks from the shop.
I would definitely recommend this site to couples & families alike - with or without dogs.

We visited Mendip Heights last June which incidentally was the only good weather we had all year!
Could not fault the camp site in any way. We were in the top field right under the trees, which was fantastic as it provided shelter from the sun.
I have camped a lot over the years, but my partner was completely new to it so I was a little aprehensive to say the least. The staff were very welcoming, and the site must be the cleanest one I have ever visited. The showers and toilets are kept spotless at all times. There is plenty of space to wash up and you can even use washing machines and tumble dryers if needed. The pitch itself was a little stoney in places but nothing a good tent peg can't sort out!
We enjoyed a leisurely afternoon walk to the local pub (turn right out of the campsite and go ahead for about a mile, you can't miss it) which was fantastic. They sell the best cider and fantastic ploughman's lunches!
We both enjoyed it so much we are going to book to visit the site for another ten days this June.
We have been spoiled by this site and are hesitant to try any others for fear of disappointment.
(I know its a fab review but I promise we do not work there!)
NO NEGATIVES WHAT SO EVER ABOUT THIS FANTASTIC SITE - BOOK IT!

We stayed here over the bank holiday, getting there took longer than planned as their directions took you via wells rather than through the gorge which put 30mins on the journey.
As it was bank holiday the site was full. We had a grass pitch with electric which was reasonably flat, the other field for tents was slightly sloping. We were right next to the playground which was no trouble any children playing there went as soon as they saw me getting kids ready for bed. Main problem about the grass with electric pitches most seemed to be under trees so we now have a stained tent.
The toilet blocks were clean, with 2 showers in the male and female areas, I never saw anyone queuing. You need a pin code to enter them which meant my 7 year old had difficulty going to the block on his own, they also had two family rooms, you pay a £10 deposit for key. I used the room suitable for older children, which had two showers in an adult toilet and a child toilet and plenty of room for the family to have a wash altogether.
The staff were friendly, adequate site shop with the added bonus of fresh Danish pastries, croissants, bread etc in the morning all cooked on site.
Just down the road in Priddy (half a mile from site) is two pubs both with beer gardens, we tried the first one food was lovely and good children's menu. The second one had a children's climbing frame in the garden.
You are close to cheddar, wells and Glastonbury and also the beaches of Burnham, Weston etc. Lots of walks from the site and he shop sells a book of walks from site.

We stayed here over the Bank Holiday weekend. The site managers were very friendly and welcomed us to the site. The site was full, but you did feel a bit crowded in. Once the unit was up there wasn't much room to sit outside. It was a muddy weekend and the managers changed a lot of the heavy units over to hard standing. We were so glad as the field was a bit of a mess. The toilets were nice, only two showers and I had to queue once. I liked the area as it was very close to cheddar village and wells. The only thing that would stop me from coming back again is the price. We paid over £32 a night for 2 adults and 2 children with electric. My inlaws decided to join us in our unit and had to pay £18.50 per night! That was over £50 a night! I would maybe go back in the off season on the hope of getting it cheaper.

We have just returned from Mendip Heights, we stayed for a week. The weather was awful, but we had a fantastic time. Plenty of things to occupy ourselves with. The site was clean and tidy, staff friendly and always willing to help if needed. The shop was well stocked, farm shop next door with fantastic meat and vegetables.
We found the local public house 'The New Inn' very nice indeed, landlord very helpful and friendly. We weren't too keen on the Queen Victoria pub, quite dark and locals not quite as friendly.
We visited Bath - the best way to get into Bath is on the park and ride from Newbridge.
Wells is gorgeous and very historical.
Cheddar was brillant, lovely people very interesting. Many shops to drive in and out of when its raining. Caves and museum were fantastica and very interesting. Jacobs Ladder was hard work on the legs. But the view made up for it!
We found that Wookey Hole was more orientated for children.
Overall a fantastic holiday, would recommend this campsite to anyone, very organised and well kept!
