We have just returned from a weekend at this site. After a few mishaps enroute, follow the route in the book and take the turning before the traffic lights, we turned at the lights (and on that road we had no mobile coverage) so end up going down the Gorge which was highly stressful and had to do the 10mile route back to the lights.
On site, it is best to do a long sweep of the lower pitches to get an easier turn instead of a sharp turn to get to the upper ones. It is quiet and only the sound of sheep could be heard.
The toilet block was nice and no push button showers, which was even better. The wash up area was great and clean with plenty of space.
The local pub has nice ciders and are very welcoming.
All in all pretty good, but would probably recommend staying in other sites closer the town.

We have just returned from a 7 night stay at Mendip Heights and we loved it. The site staff are friendly and happy to help where-ever they can.
The facilities are spotlessly clean and are thoroughly cleaned every day.
It is a fairly small and gently sloping site that has got a play area for the children. My boys loved it and made lots of new friends there.
I would recommend that if you go to the toilet block in the night time, that you take a torch with you as it gets quite dark.
There is a butchers shop next door that sells lovely meat and the Queen Victoria Pub in Priddy village is well worth a visit.
I would visit this site again and recommend it to anyone that wants a nice peaceful campsite or wants to visit Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole etc.

Cheddar Mendip Heights is fairly small as C&CC sites go but is maintained and operated to the club's impeccably high standards. This is not a cheap campsite especially in high season but you get what you pay for - the reliability and peace of mind that comes with C&CC sites.
The campsite is situated one mile from the village of Priddy on the B3135 road midway between the towns of Cheddar and Wells. It is set in lovely rolling countryside within a few minutes drive from the breathtaking Cheddar Gorge. Priddy is about twenty minute's stroll from the campsite and has two pubs, both of which serve evening meals.
The campsite entrance is clearly signposted and is an easy turn-in for towed caravans. There is a lifting barrier at the entrance and campers are issued with a card to operate it (there is a refundable £10 deposit for the card).
Like all C&CC sites staff live on site. On my visit I found the wardens to be friendly and very helpful. There is a noise curfew at night which is enforced. Campers returning late in the evening must leave their vehicles in the carpark.
There are plenty of trees so the campsite is reasonably sheltered despite its location on high ground. Hedges and low stone walls subdivide the site into two areas: the upper area is for tents, the lower for caravans and motorhomes.
The tent area is on sloping ground so none of the pitches are level - the degree of slope varies across the field. Pitches are marked out and have adequate separation. On the night I camped virtually all the pitches were occupied yet there was no feeling of being crowded. The grass is in good condition, the soil is soft and takes tent pegs easily, and campers can park one car next to their pitch.
The well-equipped and spotless facilities block is near the entrance. There are inside and outside washing-up sinks and the gents has an adequate number of cubicles, showers and washing basins. Rubbish bins and sewage disposal are nearby. During my visit everything was clean and there was plenty of hot water.
The reception and the shop are next to the entrance. The shop sells a range of local produce including home-baked bread as well as camping accessories and gas. Look out for the locally-produced book detailing walks in the area which is good value.
In summary, this is a very pleasant campsite maintained to the usual C&CC standard. If you are happy to pay C&CC rates for your pitch, I recommended Cheddar Mendip Heights.

A high quality site in every way especially being on top of The Mendips, even the shop was well stocked with its own off-license and unusually stocking local real ales from the nearby Cheddar brewery.
Lots of walks available, we walked to Wookey Hole(about 3 miles) using the footpath after The Victoria pub, details from reception but be prepared for a steep walk back.
The Queen Vic. Pub itself is in the GBG and serves high quality real ales, open all day and does food, the other village pub New Inn has a couple of real ales also and has quite an extensive menu, both pubs about 15min walk from site.

I have stayed at this site many times over the last 30 years through several changes of owner and never have I seen it so busy yet so quiet. The shower blocks are a dream.
Two lovely wet rooms and several cubicles with just a sink, and several with toilet and sink. Something for everyone. I couldn't believe how well run it now is, and how all of the campers and caravanners went quiet at 10pm and there was little noise before 8am the next morning.
The only downside was being allocated a pitch without having seen it, but luckily we were in my favourite area of the site so this wasn't a problem.
How they've improved perfection I'm not sure but they have. Well done.

Superb site, bread, pasty's baked daily, local produce sold on site and next door in farm shop.
Excellent walking book written by local walking author has 8 circular walks all which can be walked from site we did four of them and they were all easy to follow book was inexpensive and available on site.
Large pitch, facilities spotless and the staff welcoming and friendly at all times. Cheddar 5 miles one direction Wells 5 miles in the other direction.
Priddy a beautiful village with events on the village green. Will definitely be visiting this site again.

On our way back from a week in Cornwall we stayed here for one night. The facilities are kept clean and, as is the norm for club sites they are closed for cleaning for a while mid day. The water was always hot and the showers were great and unlike some other sites we have stayed in you didn't have to keep pushing the button every few seconds!
We found the staff to be friendly and helpful on our arrival. Be aware that you have to pay a deposit for a barrier card for the duration of your stay, which you get back when you vacate your pitch on your last day.
The site is convenient for Cheddar Gorge and in the other direction, it is walking distance to the village of Priddy where there are a couple of pubs where you can get a meal.
As we only stayed for a night we have not had much experience of the site, but first impressions count for a lot and we were not disappointed. We would recommend it and would stay there again.

Stayed here for the first time over the Easter Bank Holiday, and the site was busy, however, it never felt over-crowded.
The facilities were very clean and tidy, as expected from a C&CC club site.
There is only one toilet/shower block for the ladies, and a short waiting time was the norm at peak times.
Great showers - ones that are non-stop until you have finished, instead of those annoying ones that you have to push a button and last about 20s!
There is a small play area for children with swings and slides.
Dog walk was very good and popular with all the dogs on site during my stay.
The staff were very helpful and understanding. When they realised I had mis-understood the instruction about pitch boundary and pitch my tent outside the allocated area, they kindly find a way to give me more space without having to move my tent and windbreak.
Be warned that some of the pitches are on a slope and one is advised to be prepared for being on a slope.
The area is excellent for walkers and hikers, being in the middle of the Mendip Hills, and the site's own guide book on walks starting from the site itself is well worth the money at 2.99 GBP.
There are a couple of pubs only a short walk from the campsite, and I went to one and had an excellent pint of their local ale.
The shop on the campsite sells local produce and some essential camping items. Newspapers are available at a local garage about 2miles away.
The campsite also sell discounted ticket for Cheddar Gorge, however, it is still over 15.00GBP per person!
Went to Cheddar Gorge on Easter Sunday and it was heaving. However, unused sections of the ticket is valid for 10years.
I have already booked for another stay in June 2011, and shall bring with me anti-slip mat and door stops for my aluminium roll up table.
I shall return to Cheddar Gorge and hope to enjoy the cliff top walk in relative quietness.
If at all possible, avoid going through Bradford-upon-Avon during rush hours / holidays, as it was a nightmare with very narrow roads and not-so-considerate drivers!

Friendly staff, good facilities including indoor dishwashing area which is good this time of year. I was at the bottom of the smaller hardstanding area below the static caravans and most of the pitches there were taken by the second night. The main field was fairly empty and as a result there was never an issue finding a free shower cubicle.
On site shop sells local produce - there is also a small farm shop about a minute's walk up the road. They also have a small bakery on-site, but unfortunately stock was low this close to the end of the season so no Danish pastries!
The pitch I chose was near a tree and with the wind blowing I ended up with a van covered in leaves both mornings!
'3' mobile network coverage was almost non-existent.I was occasionally able to get a signal but only for a minute or so.
Second time I've stayed here - in May I was able to walk around the area but this time I only had a couple of nights and the weather was pretty bad. Went to Wells instead - market was good, as was the cathedral. Bishop's palace (went in May) also worth visiting to see the springs and gardens. When the weather is good!

We had a great time at this site, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the toilets and showers were terrific even after heavy rain made everyone muddy. The shop was well stocked and not too pricey.
The site was interesting, it sloped in various directions, but mostly quite gently and the pitches were large enough to orient the tent so that it sloped only one way. I have never camped so close to so many animals. My granddaughter enjoyed that. We had horses and ponies on the road, both ridden and driven pulling small traps, sheep in abundance, a milk herd, beef cattle the other side of the road and several larger horses grazing at the far side of the site.
Information from the site staff was very useful. Both pubs in Priddy were good, some in Wells were excellent. The market in Wells was a delight.
