We stayed 2 nights at Hollins Farm and really enjoyed it. It cost £7 per night and we had a pitch that allowed a camp fire. The camp fire was there waiting for us and we bought logs for £3 from the house.

There are 2 toilet and 2 showers and although not the best facilities we never had to queue to use them and the owners tried to keep them clean.

The site is well away from any shops or pubs but only about 15 minutes from Whitby, when arriving we did think we had got lost as it is so far away from anything but once there it was brilliant and everyone was really friendly.

A great cheap and cheerful site!

This is a lovely little site and the views are unbeatable.

We stayed here with our two year old, we had a pitch near to the chicken coup and in front of a field full of cows, and our little boy really enjoyed being up close to these animals.

The farmer and his wife were really nice and very helpful.

The facilities are very basic but clean.

The value for money is excellent, at only £4 per night this is cheapest site we have stayed.

I would say make sure you have good directions to this site as we did find it a little difficult to find, or maybe that could just be down to my partners bad sense of direction!

We would certainly return to this site.

My husband and I spent 3 nights at Hollins Farm last Bank Hol weather was lovely, also my daughter son and their families were also with us. The views are idyllic and it is lovely and peaceful. Mrs Mortimer was very friendly and welcoming. Washing up facilities showers and toilets are basic but clean water a bit hit and miss red hot going to cold but only 30p. Free range eggs are a must taste delicious at £1.00 for 6. Most of the pitches are on a bit of a slope but this didn't deter from having a good time. No shop on site but a shop come post office in village only open until 12noon on bank hols. They operate apick up service to a local pub where you can have a meal and they bring you back on site we didn't try this but have heard good reports about it. Lots to do out and about Whitby Scarbourgh Goathland ( Heartbeat country) all with in easy reach. Had a really good time would recommend and will definitely pay another visit in the near future.

There are 2 toilets and 2 showers. These were kept clean and well stocked. There is a washing up area and lounge room. Three fields to camp in all of which slope a little, though relatively flat areas can be found for smaller tents. The rural location of this campsite is fantastic, set in a quiet valley in the N York Moors. It is within a few miles of the North York Moors Railway and the coast around Whitby is a little beyond this. For a rural retreat at a value for money price, enjoying what is on offer locally, this is the perfect place to camp.

We have just returned from a weekend at Hollins Farm. This is a fairly basic campsite but the views more than make up for this.

Per night we were charged £3.50 per adult £1.00 per car

The facilities on this site are basic to say the least yet were always relatively clean. Showers cost 30p and there's always plenty of hot water.

There is an old out building with a tv, some comfortable chairs and a few toys for children. There is also a fridge where you can keep your milk and butter.

In one field there is a drying shelter with washing lines and a couple of picnic benches which could be handy if it rained.

I was amazed at just how much Mr and Mrs Mortimer(an elderly couple in their 60s) manage to do, they always seem to be on the go and are more than willing to help when needed.

All in all we had a fantastic stay and will hopefully be returning soon.

We are a family of 6 with 4 children aged between 8 and 16.

We have just arrived back home after spending a long weekend at Hollins farm! well what can I say about Hollins farm.

The farm is a very relaxing campsite, fairly basic but pleasant.

Prices per night

£3.50 per adult (16 and over)
£1.00 per child
£1.00 per car
£1.00 for campfire (so I'm told but only 3 pitches for this in the top field, we took a BBQ)

We camped in the field where the drying shelter is, apart from a family who stayed the one night we had the field all to ourselves. The field was on a slight slope but we camped at the bottom corner.

The facilities were basic (2 toilet and 2 showers)but very clean 24/7. The showers take a bit of judging when trying to get the required temperature. The first night I showered my water went from between very hot to very cold, but it added to the whole camping experience.

The swing and slide were a little old but I felt ok letting my two youngest boys play on them. The room with the tv in was a bit grim but you don't have to sit there if you don't want to.

The chicken were very friendly and laid the most tasty eggs, perfect cooked for your breakfast. At 90p for half a dozen, they are well worth it.

The area around the campsite was the best views I'd seen in a long while. The village of glaisdale is about half an hour walk. The village of leasholm is a bit further (we took the car there on the search for a cash machine which we didn't find, but the post office allows you to cash money from there). Whitby is about 9 miles away , goathland (heartbeat country) about 8 miles away, scarbrourgh is about 18 miles away. There are lots of places to explore around and about, if you fancy a scenic walk ( don't forget your picnic like we did)

And last but not least .The delightful mrs and mr mortimer (a couple in there late 60's/ ealy 70's) were fantastic hosts, they were there if you needed them but on the other hand left you to get on with your holiday.

All in all a very pleasant experience, children loved it too. Hoping to return in the near future.

Tucked away well off the beaten track, you are a couple of miles away from the bright lights of Glaisdale with its three pubs!

The facilities are basic, but this is fine if that's what you are expecting (which we were). This is more than made up for by the beauty and silence of the place, which even my three young kids appreciated! The 5.30am alarm clock in the shape of the farm's crowing cockerel was a lovely - if abrupt - reminder of the fact that you were on a proper, truly rural campsite, complete with charming, salt-of-the-earth owners.

Wonderful.

A peaceful rural location, top field was on a slope for the tents therefore the bottom field may be more suitable. Facilities very basic, however, considering the rural location you still have a shower facility. A good half hour walk to local pub but the food is delightful! A nice base for a weekend break.

Well what can I say, this campsite is certainly different ,if you are looking for peace and quiet then this site is for you. The facilities are basic but clean, the shower in the shed certainly made us laugh, and for what you pay you cant complain. Unfortunately Mrs Mortimer does not do the full English breakfasts anymore, which was a bit disappointing .We had booked to stay for 5 nights but because our youngest child was feeling unwell we came home 2 days early. The shop in the village is well stocked but shuts at 1pm and I don't know if it reopens later in the day,the local pub sells food but is very expensive but you do get a fish and chip an that goes to the village on a Thursday evening. We enjoyed our stay at Hollins farm and are planning to return in a few weeks.

Visited for a couple of days rest and relaxation and that is exactly what we got. The site is in a beautiful location with stunning views. The facilities are basic but adequate with electric and shaver pionts for those of you who like to stay well groomed.
The farm owners are very friendly and helpful but allow you to get on with your stay. They also sell the best free range eggs perfect for breakfast and at 80p for six a bargain too!. The site is a perfect base for visiting many of the local attractions in the area, walking or just chilling out and taking a break from it all. We will definitely be back.
