As first time campers this was an ideal campsite and we were made to feel welcome by the owners. We stayed for 3 nights and had a great time. The ground was a little uneven but made it a lot more fun. The campsites facilities were always clean and tidy and well maintained. The views were beautiful and the local public house was very welcoming and the food was nice. We will certainly visit Hollins farm again in the near future.

We stayed on this site for 8 nights. It's a lovely quiet site, most people seemed to be in bed by 10.30pm! The owners were lovely. And the campsite facilities clean and reasonable.
The only improvement would be a couple of extra toilets (there are 2) for the times when the site is busy, although this was only at the weekend, and didn't bother us much.
There are 2 showers, a wash cubical, and 2 washing up sinks, all with plenty of very hot water. There's also a play/tv room with a fridge (with small freezer compartment) in which you can put ice packs, milk and butter.
The site is in 3 fields, so even when busy, it doesn't feel too full.
All in all, a lovely site, which I would recommend to anyone looking for a quiet family site.

We stayed at Hollins Farm for 3 nights. The previous reviews were right -- this is an excellent place to stay if you want tent camping, rather than being in a caravan site. The pitches were not too level, but we'd definitely go again. The owners are wonderful. I think they do the campsite full time so they have added a lot of nice touches -- the area around the long driveway was nicely landscaped. The price is great, too, at £3 per night per person and 30p per shower (payable directly to the owners) and £1 for each extra vehicle. This is a cheap campsite but worth a lot more.

A great campsite - tucked away in the middle of nowhere in the middle of great walking countryside and near all moors attractions. The owners are great and take pride in their site. The grass is nice and short and the facilities - although basic - are always spotless. There are great views wherever you pitch up and the sheltered cooking barn is v. Useful for drying washing and cooking when it's raining. If you love camping you'll love this site 5*!

We tried out this site after reading such positive reviews and were not disappointed. The owners were really friendly and helpful and were really keen to make sure that we had a good stay. We were pitched in the field that allowed fires (the other fields don't so you can have a choice about whether you want your tent to smell of wood smoke or not!) , and it was really pleasant, though as it was in a dip it got a bit muddy when it rained. The other areas seemed well drained. There are some outhouses that you can sit in if it gets too wet and the toilets and showers, though basic, were clean and airy. Highly recommended!

Simply the best camp site we have ever been to nice and basic. Very clean, views out of this world, owners very helpful. Loads of peace and quiet, lots of wild life and very well presented. Will return time and again.

August 2005 I chose to visit Hollins farm because of its excellent reviews. The views are outstanding, situated in the North Yorkshire moors national park. The owners of the camp site are very helpful and work hard to make sure that everything runs smoothly. The site is clean but basic. There are no hookups. Dogs on a lead are allowed. There are only two showers and toilets on site. The site is child frendly with a swing and a slide. There is plenty of wildlife. During my week stay I came across a toad, hedgehogs, bats, and the pet ducks! There is not a shop on site. There is however a very well stocked local post office, butchers and a good local pub in the village. I would recommend this site to anyone who is used to proper camping!

June 2005 Was impressed with Hollins Farm. Very pretty track down to the farm house, with flower borders and benches'on the sides. Very well maintianed area's. We had pitched on a slope, but wasn't much of a problem. Didn't see the 3rd flat area until we had the tent up. Brill views over the moors. The showers are a work of art and quirky ,won't suit everyones taste though. The eggs were tasty, and the kids liked the chickens, which we had pitched our tent near, but they were quiet. There is plenty of walking areas, but you have to use the roads to get to them. With us having small children decide to go to the beach instead at sandends. Will go back and try the walks. Hi to the Durham family if your reading on this site.

September 2004 We visited hollins farm last week in August and first few days Sept. Fantastic site the views are out of this world. The owners, Mr and Mrs Mortimer, were just so helpfull nothing was too much for them. Local pub runs a FREE pick up and drop of car with excellent food at realistic prices. Walking is great up the lane and onto well anywhere you wish over the valley or on to Glaisdale rigg. Showers and toilets excellent and clean, free range eggs on sale on site. All in all the very best campsite we have visited and will be visiting for years to come.

August 2004 We went to this site after reading reviews and were not disappointed. The scenery is fantastic and the site is ideal for anyone looking for peace and quiet. There are three fields which are well looked after, the field we were in had a bit of a slope, we were at the flatter, bottom bit which did get waterlogged after it rained constantly for 12 hours. I imagine it is not usually this bad. The showers and toilets are basic but always kept clean and tidy. This is a good site if you enjoy proper camping, just sheep, cows, and the view. It is very good value for money, Adults £1, children under 12 £1 and £1 for your car per night. Showers cost 25p and were lovely and hot and you could take as long as you needed. It is ideally placed for exploring, with Whitby only a 20 minute drive away. The owners of the site are friendly and helpful. We would definately go again and hope the weather would be a bit kinder.
