This site is just outside of Portree just off of the main road. The site is sloping, with some level standings for campers and caravans but harder to find totally level ground for a tent. We pitched up near an electric hook up, and on a slope - which found us both on the same side of the tent in the morning!
However it is a very pleasant site with good views of the Cuillins, assuming you can see them cos we couldn't! There are a limited number of electric hook ups on one side of the site. There is wifi available for a fee. There are two toilet blocks, only one open as it was late in the season.
The facilities were clean, but utilitarian with stainless steel sinks & all pipework exposed, no private cubicles for washing. There are two showers, one includes the diabled toilet. The shower is a press button one, which only runs for a couple of minutes at a time, there is no curtain so water splashes onto clothes & all the floor is wet so nowhere dry to stand when getting dressed, no stool to sit on either.
This site on a hillside which catches the wind! We were lucky not to be blown away!
Portree is just down the road and worth a visit, especially as there is no shop on site.
Despite having atrocious weather during our stay I would return as it is generally a good site in a good location.

I like this site, it is well run and the owner takes pride it seems in keeping things clean and tidy. Shower block is as good as any on the island with very useful shower/toilets for those with disabilities. Experience tells me not put my tent under the trees by the river. It can be midge heaven down there or hell if you are a homo-sapien.
Portree has several pubs and shops which is great for an evening out or just re-supplying. Its a short walk into the town but a slightly longer one back as its all up hill. If you use buses to get around the island say to visit Storr then they will happily drop you at the campsite entrance on your way back.

Brilliant site and really pleasant staff.
Upon arriving we were greeted with a member of staff who was welcoming and offered us free rein on where we pitched our tent. There was a good amount of space to pitch. We pitched on a gentle slope which was fine.
The facilities were really good! had a brilliant shower and toilet block.
Was within walking distance from portree which was a great place to be! a few good bars.
One complaint we had was the barrier which was put down which is fair enough to stop non-paying guests entering the site, although we felt that it was kind of restrictive as we had already parked the car in the site before realising it would be down and locked.
All in all an awesome site :D

Our second campsite and now 2 camping trips later still our favourite.
Yes it is a sloping site but so friendly and quiet. The gate was shut at night so no coming and going after about 11pm, everyone was friendly, the facilities were spotless and everything worked. The washing up facilities and laundry are were outside but under a lean-to so perfectly ok.
The owner came around every morning to collect the money and always asked if everything was ok, did we need any help/information.
I suppose if you want any kind of entertainment for kids this site had nothing, but we are all happy playing cards or reading so we just enjoyed the peace and quiet.
This is the site we judge all others by and none have come close so far.

Just back from a 4 night stay at this site,
Site is on a slight slope but never caused an issue good facility's and never ending hot water which is always a plus.
Site is a 20 min walk from the centre of portree which has a good range of bars/restaurants great location for visiting the rest of the island
Wardens were friendly and helpful
Would recommend this site and will be going back here on our next trip to Skye

A very nice site.
Great views of the Cuillins.
Sloping site but managed to level up reasonably well.
Toilets, showers and pot wash clean with plenty of hot water.
Really good value for money cost us £15 for the night for 2 adults plus electric hook up. Wardens very friendly. Needed to pay cash so had to nip to Portree to get some - no problem really.
A short drive from the site is the Old Man of Storr.
Hike up as far as you can and you will be rewarded with the most amazing views.
This is a great campsite and the Isle of Skye is breathtakingly beautiful.

Lovely site, very welcoming.
It's 1 mile outside Portree (the largest settlement on Skye), so the town is within walking distance.
It's a popular site, with a variety of touring units and campers. It's an active site, but not busy or noisy.
From the site you can see the Black Cuillin, so if you get a nice evening, you can take in the view. If you go to the top of the site, you can also see up to the Old Man of Storr.
Skye is spectacular, and this site is a good base to head out around the island.
They don't take payment when you arrive. Quirkily, a very friendly, soft-spoken young Scotsman does the rounds in the morning to collect the money and gives you the weather forecast :-)
Good value too at £15 for motorhome, 2 adults and EHU.

Just returned from a lovely 3 nights at this campsite. The staff are very friendly and the facilities always clean with plenty of running water. Most of the site is sloping, but you can find a few flat spaces or pitch sleeping downhill! Really well maintained site and reasonably priced too.
A perfect spot in the middle of the Isle of Syke with stunning views of the Cuillins and a short walk into Portree. Just make sure you take midgie repellent - it will be needed - it is the west coast of Scotland after all!

Most fortunate to visit Skye during a spell when the temperature touched 30 degrees.
This site, 1. 6 miles out of Portree is an excellent little spot. The terrain is a little on the hilly side, but flat patches (and hard patches for vans etc. ) were usually available. The toilet and shower blocks were kept in excellent condition throughout my 9 night stay. The washing up block likewise. The warden was as pleasant and helpful an individual as you would want to meet. He always had time for a chat and was always helpful with advise on where to go and how to get there. The costs were extremely favourable too. I would like to have had free (or certainly cheap) wireless access for my Kindle. Recycling facilities would be another plus. These are minor points and such was the overall pleasant experience of staying at Torvaig Camp Site far outweighs my trivial observations.
As a place Portree is very good for shopping and eating. I was rather disappointed with the quality of real ale on offer. It was often unavailable and not that well kept. Rather expensive too. Portree is a good central base from which to explore Skye and I would have no hesitation in staying there again.

A lovely little site situated about a mile or so outside of Portree. Site has both grass pitches and hardstandings for the motorhomes. The site does slope quite considerably in places, so levelling blocks in the camper are definitely needed. Toilets and showers all fine and clean with the normal drinking water, washing up facilities and toilet disposal point.
The owner of the site is the nicest and most helpful person you could meet, always happy to talk about walks, pubs and anything to do with all things Skye.
Portree itself was lovely with nice pubs - we ate at the Island Inn on the main square which was nice - it seemed to be the main music venue as well. We also eat in the Harbour view restaurant which was fantastic but not cheap - a lovely place for our last meal of our hols, but you couldn't afford to eat there every night (you do get what you pay for though!)
The deli on Whitworth street was also worth a visit - fantastic takeway Langoustines.
I really do recommend the site as it was nice and quiet, small enough and a real feeling of being out in the countryside. Only a couple of negatives for me - you can't pre book the site, it's a turn up and find a pitch and pay in the morning. Ok when we wnet but if you were to arrive later in the afternoon in the high season you might struggle to get a pitch. And the other moan from me is that hill into town - it took us 3 minutes to cycle in, freewheeling downhill all the way, and 20 mins of hard puffing and panting on the way back. Do yourself a favour and walk in (20 mins) and get a taxi back (£5)
