What a campsite! situated in a beautiful part of Skye, just on the outskirts of Portree surrounded by the mountains. The toilets and showers are really well maintained and cleaned thoroughly. There is a covered washing area with free hot water and a washing machine and tumble drier.
Mostly all of the pitches are on a slight slope, and are maintained perfectly. Unfortunately we went during a period of bad weather and the site was a little waterlogged, but don't read this as a negative as the site was still lush and green, not caked in mud. The only very minor thing we could say is the site could do with a little play park or set of swings, just to keep the kids entertained while the tent goes up. (This isn't me whining, as I know people do, just purely an observation)
Portree is really nice, very picturesque. A 20 minute walk away, there are a few shops, nice pubs and really nice fish and chips! The walk is all downhill from the campsite, but it will take a bit longer to get back with a belly full of fish and chips and a few beers!
The warden is very friendly and happy to help. At £5pppn and children under 12 £1 we felt this was excellent value for money and we will be heading back there again in the very near future.

Lovely site with friendly people working there. Toilets and showers very clean and stocked with loo roll and soap. Portree is a 20 minute walk from site, here you'll find nice places to eat and lovely shops to browse in. Been coming to Skye for the past 3 years and for ammenities nearby this is the best site we've stayed at, will definitely be coming back here.

What a great campsite in a fabulous area. The site is frequented by backpackers, cyclists, motor cyclists, motor homes, caravanners and tent campers without any problems. Plenty of space. The caravans and motor homes have their own hard standing areas.
The real campers can select their own pitches on slightly inclined, very well maintained grassed areas. The facilities are modern and kept spotlessly clean. More so, they are free, (excluding washing m/c and dryer).
At 5.00 GBP pppn, what can one say, free hot water in the washing up area, in the washhand basins and showers. Although there is no shop on site, the capital of Skye ( Portree ) is within 20 - 25 minutes walking distance of the site. Everything from supermarkets, cafes / restaurants to giftshops are available in Portree. Once an old fishing port.
During my stay ( 6 days) the site seemed to attract a lot of Germans and Dutch visitors along with Robert the Bruce's revenging army (the infamous midge). So go well prepared with nets and spray.

Stayed over night at this great site whilst touring, very well kept camping area, most pitches slope slightly. Keep away from the trees at the edges if you want to avoid the midges, clean and tidy toilets, very friendly owners and an easy walk back into Portree. There's a good selection of information in the office for local attractions. If your going up 'The Old Man of Storr' its a short drive or fair walk up the road. Cheap and well worth a look. Will go again.

This is one beautifully located site and the owner John deserves all the praise for the spotless facilities and his helpful and unobtrusive nature.
We were fortunate with the most glorious weather during our week on Skye and fully appreciated the wonderful scenery and that island.
The town of Portree is 20-25mins walk and everything that a camper requires can be purchased there.
The roads on the North of the island are mostly single track but the surfaces are in excellent condition and no problems were encountered when meeting oncoming traffic. There are so many places to visit it would be hard to single out one, so go there and see it for yourself.
I just wish that we could have spent longer at this location as there is so much to see and do, but hopefully there will be a return visit in the not too distant future.

Stayed for 5 nights, £5 per adult per night and £3 electric per night, excellent site, clean toilets, showers with plenty of hot water, dish washing sinks, laundry machines.
Site very clean and tidy, based 1.7 miles up Staffin Road from Portree, we just walked into Portree.
Had glorious weather which made our stay perfect.
John the owner was very helpful about walks and directions in Skye and everything else we needed to know.

Great campsite, visited Torvaig campsite when I was a boy with my mother and father about 30 years ago. Visited Skye last year to see the highland games with my own son and used Torvaig as a base. Its the same family that own the site now as it was then. Great facilities, great view, great value for money.
The best site on Skye by far.

Stayed for three nights at this excellent caravan site. We have spent a month touring round Scotland and this was one of my favourite places. The scenery is breathtaking,
We went to Portree to get shopping and enjoyed some fantastic fish n chips from the chippie down on the harbour.
We also visited the Isle of Raasay which is a short ferry ride away, the grandchildren loved being on the ferry.
A clean and tidy site which we are visiting again in a few weeks.

Stayed at site for two nights on way back from Outer Hebrides. Had brilliant weather but unfortunately this brought the midges out in force. Site very well situated for Portree which is about a mile and a bit down the road. Site slopes so choose your pitch carefully. However the owner is a friendly chap who collects the money each morning and at £4.50 each for two people with a three person tent and one car it is the cheapest site we have visited for a while, especially as the showers are free and the facilities are clean and well maintained!
We only used the Co-op in Portree so cannot comment on the eating places but have used The Granary in the past which was good.
By the way in order to escape the midges in the evening we climbed up the little hill by the site where there was a gentle breeze that (mostly) kept them away!
Would stay here again (in non-midge season)

This was our fifth visit to this site, it has not changed, toilets and shower block very clean.
Still a long walk for water/waste disposal as the one tap/drain is down by the shower block. Caravans are on a slope so recommend leveling blocks or device. As usual John gives you a good warm welcome and always willing to give information on the Isle of Skye, walks etc. Site a good walk from Portree or excellent taxi service, which has plenty of restaurants gift shops etc. Site is ideally situated for touring North Skye.
