A lovely out of the way site, family run, very friendly & helpful owners/staff. The pitch was a good size with plenty of room to sprawl. Wifi was better than at home!

Showers/toilets were clean with plenty of hot water, washing up facilities were also clean with plenty of hot water.

Most of the site is taken up with caravans whose occupants appear to be mostly retired, we saw very few children, noise was minimal. There were plenty of bins provided with allocated bins for recycling. Local pub is within walking distance, great beer and fantastic food. Main towns (Helmsley & Pickering) are appx 15-20 min drive.

Where to start with my praise for this site. Firstly, James and his family could not do enough for us, friendly, pleasant and just so helpful.

We have very large tent and had EHU and was only £20 per night. The pitches are well spaced and plenty of room. Facilities and next to none with ample showers, constant hot water and they are spotless. We used the WiFi service provided for only £2 for three days and the whole site is covered, so never had a problem getting online.

Very close to Flamingo Land (20 mins) and Eden Camp, as well as Pickering. So many places to visit from this location. If I am ever in this area again this is the site I would visit. 5 STARS.

Very clean and tidy site, staff were friendly and helpful.

Toilets and shower block were kept very clean and you got adequate time in your shower for 20p.

The grass pitch that we had was level and roomy but if you go for a hard standing the gravel is on the large side which will could make it uncomfortable under foot. ( They need to put smaller chippings on to make the ground more even ).

Apart from the that everything was great, good position for visiting all the surrounding areas of North Yorkshire.

The local pub ( The Plough )was only 1ml away and had great beers and food with a friendly welcome. I am a keen cyclist and the local roads were quiet and also delight to ride around the beautiful local villages. We will definitely go here again.

Ps There is nothing here for children.

Just got back from a three night stay at wombleton caravan site. I can not rate this site highly enough.

The owners are extremely friendly and helpful and we hope to visit again very soon.

A really well placed site, lots of places to visit in the area. Also excellent pub in wombleton, the Plough, which does very nice food.

Stayed here for a weekend in September, will never stay again. Felt far too 'dictatorial', and when taking our dogs to the 'doggy' walk area which is off site was twice guided to the 'off site' exercise area.

Must be back in before 10:30pm as there is a 'no noise' policy after 10:30pm and the automatic barriers are locked the keypad will not work! If you go out and are late back from a having a nice meal somewhere your car will be locked out as there is only pedestrian access you must leave your car parked outside the security of the caravan site. I can understand the need for 'no noise rules' but think it is very unfair to stop you from enjoying your break.

As for the shower/toilet block it could have been cleaner and checked more often.

The pitches were quite cramped and you had to park in front as not enough room at side.

Second visit to this site and it wont be my last. The staff are great and very friendly. The pitches are large and well looked after.

The toilets and showers are well maintained and are very clean and there is plenty of them so there is no waiting for one to become free.

There is a small charge of 20p for the shower but the water is hot and you have plenty of time before the water cuts off.

There is a small shop on site.

We stayed her for 2 weekends leaving the caravan on site. The site is nice however the pitch sizes are small compared to others we have stayed at. We left the van on site during the week at a cost of £5 per night which is the most expensive and we only paid it due to friends on the site.

You need a car to go everywhere a local pub is about a mile away. All dog have to be on a lead which is normal however there is one one waste bin at the entrance to the site and not the best dog walking area.

We have booked to stay at Hutton le Hole site in June and they only charge £1 per night to leave the van, during our stay a local farmer decided to set off a gas bird scarer at half six every morning then every 15 mins after. Have been informed that this has stopped.

We have visited lots of site, away every weekend and this is one of them we will not be coming back to.

Our third visit to this gem of a site. Facilities are spotless. Site is well maintained. Owners are polite, friendly and always willing to help. Having stayed at many sites over the past 18 years this one is at the top of my list. First class.

Pitches are large enough to take our tent which is 29 ft long, they are spacious and you do not feel you are camping on top of your neighbour. Site is quiet.

Close to many picturesque places, Helmsley, Thirsk etc. We are big walkers and only a stones throw from the moors and Sutton bank.

Wonderful 6 night stay at this beautiful site. Great pitch with plenty room. Good facilities which are very clean. Great little on site shop too.

Central location if you like exploring with so many things to do. Took 2 teenagers who were delighted with the wifi so they could upload details of their day.

Lovely people who were so friendly and helpful. You must try the chippy in Pickering called The Lemon Tree. Great value for gorgeous fish and chips.

Helmsley is a smashing little place to visit with lots of lovely shops selling fresh local produce. Loved the peace and quiet this lovely gem of a site offers. Will be returning as soon as we can.
