We are regular users of this site, which is very well kept. There are site rules as can be found at any site. They are there for the benefit of the camper's and caravanner's.
Our grandchildren have always been made most welcome and on occasions when they have needed to be spoken to about a little excess 'play' noise it has never been nasty. I have fallen foul of burning the grass, not deliberately, I must add. We lit a small barrel legged type barbeque with a disposal pack inside. To ensure it did not burn we placed a pyrex cutting board underneath. This did not work and although we did not notice at the time it burnt the grass. So beware and use the stands provided by the site.
A lot of time is spent at the site maintaining the very pleasant surroundings and the family are very helpful. If you want a pleasant peaceful site. This is it. If you want a club house and enjoy making a noise until the early hours please go somewhere else.

Great little site with friendly helpful staff. On arrival shown to our pitch and assisted in siting. Mixture of hard standing and grass pitches of good size and kept very tidy.
We stayed 3 nights over Spring Bank Hol so site was full but there was no queuing for facilities, showers, toilets etc which are kept very clean.
Small shop for those emergency things you run out of or forget. No kids play area, But the owners do have a supply of board games etc to borrow to help entertain.
David the owner organises the occasional demonstration / activity for visitors which are very interesting.
The village is about a mile away with friendly little pub, The Plough, serving good food, good beer and pleasant company.
Ideal for exploring the rest of the area and will be definitely be returning.

This a small, pretty, quiet and immaculate site, situated next to a disused airfield. Reasonably priced - it cost us £16 for the one night we stayed. It has an excellent toilet/shower block.
The site caters mostly for caravans, but we were able to park our campervan on a hard concrete area set aside for motorhomes. We overlooked the small tent field. There were some a-frame wooden picnic tables for us to use, which was very helpful.
The site is not especially suited to families with children, as ball games and bikes are not allowed, but our four year old made friends with some children on the tent field, where they were able to play with water pistols and frisbies. I would not have wanted to stay longer for that reason alone.
The site owners son was friendly and helpful enough, but there was an awkward moment when he approached us to tell us not to have an open fire. My partner had only just lit the charcoal barbecue, and there were some naked flames for a few minutes, but we were not intending to have a 'fire'(it was a very warm evening!).

Lovely site, owners David and Brenda extremely pleasant and helpful. Site kept immaculate, standards very high, Toilet facilities excellent, on site shop and information area.
Lovely peaceful location, close to Helmsley handy for York, Yorks Moors and Castle Howard Area.
Helmsley lovely, plenty shops and tea rooms. The plough Inn Wombleton good food, best to book in advance on a evening. Highly reccommend the chippy in Kirbymoorside, the Lemon Tree.
Will be visiting Wombleton on numerous outings during 2010.

Stayed for 2 nights and had the choice of pitching in the tent field at the back of the Site or on a caravan pitch near the shower block. We chose the caravan pitch which was spacious and flat. Only slight problem was the ground was rock hard - stony underneath quite close to the surface so it was just as well there was no wind. I think the tent field was 'softer' so we would choose that next time. Can't praise this site highly enough. Facilities immaculate, whole site beautifully kept and pretty with trees turning gold for Autumn and peaceful. Owners couldn't do enough to help and recommended a couple of places to eat.
Probably not a Site for children as no playground although there is a disused air field next door for bike riding/games/dog walking and the Site owners have thoughtfully provided a small room next to the office stocked with board games, jigsaws and books for customers' use.
There are no pubs or shops within walking distance but these are only a short drive away. Will definitely be returning.

Came to this campsite to visit a relative. On arrival we were abruptly stopped by the owner asking what our business was there. After telling him we were visiting relatives, he started being very inquisitive. Very strictly ran camp site! Facilities were brilliant but very unimpressed with the attitude of the owner.
Fantastic grounds and area, with excellent local surroundings. Lovely local pub and friendly town. Pity about the first impression!

What a little gem this site is. Just returned from a short visit (2 nights)and would highly recommend it. The showers are some of the most spacious we have used, the facilities are spotless and heated. The site is tucked away at the side of an old WWII airfield and is lovely and quiet, well once the farmer had finished moving his bales at about 12am! That didn't spoil our stay though. Would definitely visit again as there are still plenty of places to visit in the local area.

Lovely, well kept site, helpful friendly staff, loads to do in the area, coast, Helmsley, Pickering etc etc all nearby and plenty of great places to eat, we stayed 2 nights and were lucky enough to have perfect weather, we did not want to leave!
The facilities - these are what all sites should be like, didn't mind paying 20p for a shower, there was plenty of room in the cubicle and lots of hooks also a corner set of shower 'shelves' to put toiletries on whilst in the shower (very useful!)The shower was separated from the dressing bit by a shower curtain which also makes a difference. We shall be going back!

This is a lovely site with well spaced out pitches. There is a small shop that sells the very basics, you just have to try and catch somebody to open it! Toilets and showers were plentiful just make sure you have a supply of 20 pences. They were kept clean but are a little dated. The Plough in Wombleton was very quaint and welcoming sadly we were not able to eat as Monday is their day off but the menu was good and reasonably priced.
The only negative is the owner can be quite abrupt although his wife is the opposite, it did spoil our stay slightly but apart from that the site is lovely and peaceful with easy access to many places.

A couple of nights were booked at this campsite at the last minute. The owners are very friendly and helpful, and direct you to your pitch via a bicycle.
The camping field is not huge, but it was quiet and spacious during our stay. The site is level, and the facilities were very well maintained. Hot showers (20p for a short time), clean toilets and washing up area.
The local pub is 20 minutes walk, but is not open until teatime. This is also where the bus stop is situated. We would recommend a trip into Helmsley.
Overall a good site which we would recommend.
