Pleasant site with most of the amenities you require.
Clean and tidy, with very good toilet block/washing facilities.
Slightly isolated (nearest village a good walk away @ 1. 4m), but handy for local town (Helmsley) which is very pleasant.
The weather was pretty appalling (Hurricane Bertha) some of the time but the ground drained very well. We were concerned by the large trees overhanging the tent/car during the very windy weather. As commented by others, rock-pegs are a must. We liked the tent pitch we were on which was astroturf making it a very even surface.
The dog walk field is very useful. The only criticism I would have is the ball play area which was full of rocks and a real hazard (an accident waiting to happen), whilst the fence separating it from the dog area was down allowing errant dogs access (I didn't see any). There were the usual suspects who did not pick up their doggy-doo in the walk area but there was nothing I saw in the park. All in all, a decent site.

Quiet site next to a small active airfield. Site staff very friendly. No facilities for small children but staff advised me of this at the time of booking. The facilities were clean and site very organised, clean and extremely well presented. There are a lot of pre positioned caravans and as a result the regulars all knew each. The local area is remote scenic although the access roads are as you would expect in a rural area drive slowly to avoid potholes. Overall excellent stay thank you.

This is a superbly run site by Family owners who really take an interest. On arrival you will likely be asked to unhitch, and your caravan will then be taken and placed exactly on it's pitch, with the jockey wheel right on the slab. The grounds are very well looked after and improvements are underway year on year. First rate shower and toilet facilities are on site, and water disposal and replenishment points are never far away wherever you are pitched. Families are welcomed but are encouraged to respect the peace of other, non children orientated residents (something I was pleased about). Excellent access to walking on the North Yorkshire Moors if that's your thing.

Superb site, we were camping with our tent when we came across this superb family run site. They will take dogs and although the site is mainly for caravans they will take tents, trailer tents and motor homes. The site is enters via a security barrier and you then proceed to a very clean site with hard standing and grass pitches with or without electric hook up, the site also boasts wifi which had a very good signal. The toilet block may look old but it has everything you need and more, loads of toilets and showers (20p for 5 mins) but most of all instant hot water and it's all kept spotless. I would have no problem recommending this camp site to everyone as its brilliant. (more for adults rather than kids).

Been to wombleton campsite twice now and have not been disappointed. A really nice site. Very clean toilet /shower block and a nice level site.
Very close to helmsley and whitby and there's a pub that does really good food just up the road.
Hope to be booking a two night stay again. Would definitely recommend.

Second visit to this fantastic site, definitely not our last either. Nice quiet site, clean toilet/shower block, laundry room, wash up room, freezer, ironing board, fridge and freezer. Small shop providing the basics, fresh bread delivered on Thursdays and the mobile fish and chip can on Saturdays!
If you want a nice quiet stay in the middle of beautiful countryside then this is the site for you. Children are welcome but the website does stress that there are no facilities provided for them so this should be taken into account if you are a family.

Stayed on this site for the early May bank holiday. Site is very well kept. Toilets and showers were spotless but only one problem they cost 20p a shower and the shower does not last long enough to wash properly so works out 40p every time. I would not recommend visiting this site in a motorhome, we took a car with us and had to pay extra for the car. Were given a pitch which was a very large patch of concrete and did not make for a very pleasant stay. This site also did not have any play area for children.

Just spent 2 nights at this site. It is a very quiet, the showers and toilets are clean and well looked after. Adam was very helpful and open the shop despite being busy with all the other jobs.
The biggest down side for us is that despite the pitch fee including 2 adults and 2 children, there is no play park and it was stressed that it is a quiet site (no riding bikes etc. ).
The location of the site is good with village within walking distance and Helmsley close by.
Please be aware there is no tail gateing at the barrier as they are automatic barriers and there are no notices informing you of this

Further to my earlier review. We have just returned from another week there whilst visiting Olivers Mount in Scarborough. You cannot add to perfection! but I would like to tell other members about a great pub we found at Appleton le Moor, 15 minutes drive away. It's called the Moors Inn and does good food at a great price. A very friendly family owned pub who are very welcoming to visitors.
Looking forward to our next visit to this site, just a shame they don't do Christmas.

Absolutely fantastic! We came across this by accident while visiting the steam fair at Helmsley and stayed for a week.
I cannot fault it. Spacious plots, immaculate toilets and showers and if anything, overly friendly! Just kidding, the staff are all family members and will do anything to make your stay a real pleasure, they even pitch and level you van if you so wish.
Great area to visit, with Thirsk, Pickering, etc all within a short distance and Whitby is just a short drive away.
The local pub in Wombleton, although recommended by one of the family was very expensive. However, many restaurants are quite close and it's curry night in Thirsks Wetherspoons on a Thursday!
We are returning next week for a long weekend and no doubt many times again in the future.
